Year Eleven Year 11
I
have had the pleasure of looking after the pastoral wellbeing of this cohort of young men since Year 9. It is one of the great positives of being involved in boys’ education; you can see the growth from boy to young man take place in such a dynamic and short space Mr John Montagu of time. To me this is at the Head of Year 11 core of what we do at Trinity. It certainly is the attraction of working in an all boy school.
titles won in 2007. What a year. With the family taxi service to rowing at 5.30am and then honouring the various winter fixtures at a variety of venues, it is not just the boys who are time poor.
This group of young men have been the most talented I have encountered in many years; they seem to cover all bases. Academically they are very bright and I am sure a good number will push for the 400 Club in the TEE next year. Their performances in national maths and various science projects and debating and public speaking competitions reflects their outstanding potential. The musical talent and the performing arts are well supported by this group; many lads are involved in the various bands, choirs or ensembles.
With so many highly talented students to choose from the selection of the 2008 Prefects was a perplexing process for Mr Banks and the Executive. There are a number of very strong, confident and capable leaders who are very much their own person. They have already stamped their leadership qualities by being genuine “men for others”. 2008 has the potential to be a great year for the College with these young men leading from the front.
The lads certainly learn about time management when they enrol at Trinity; with this group being involved in all aspects of College life everyone wants a piece of their time. The athletic ability of the group is demonstrated by their major contribution to the cricket, rowing, swimming, football, soccer, cross country and basketball
This group of young men are also personable and social. Most are upfront and talk straight to you which is refreshing to experience from lads of this age. We have had many involved in community service activities. Some have given up their summer holidays to help building projects in the Philippines. Father McMahon has been well received by the boys at our various Masses and his interaction with the boys who are struggling in the year group has been priceless.
It has been a pleasure being a part of their journey so far. I look forward to seeing what they can achieve next year.
