n 2007 Trinity College students challenged themselves in a variety of outdoor pursuits, learning about their natural environment and how to enjoy and conserve it for the future. Students in Years 8 to 12 were engaged in cycling, fishing, stove and Mr Brendan Chapman fire cooking, canoeing, Outdoor Education abseiling, rock climbing, caving, sailing, power boating and mountain biking. Students also undertook a number of expeditions throughout the year. All Year 8 Outdoor Education students cycled a section of the Mundaring Railway Heritage Trail. Five separate day-long expeditions were held over the year which exposed over 100 students to the joys of outdoor education. Over eighty Year 10 students ventured south to Karridale near Augusta over two separate expeditions. These students engaged in caving, abseiling, rock climbing and a high ropes course. Two expeditions flew north to Dampier for the Year 11 expeditions in September. This particular expedition saw our students navigating around the Dampier

Archipelago. Students sailed around the islands for five nights, camping on the islands and fishing at every opportunity. The boys were lucky enough to tour through the Burrup Peninsular and visit the gas operations at Woodside. Our Year 12 Outdoor Education students tackled the Munda Biddi trail for four nights on a mountain bike expedition. This required the boys to be self-sufficient in terms of navigation, food and equipment. Aims of this expedition were to develop qualities of responsibility, independence, confidence and cooperation through the use of outdoor activities. Congratulations to all students involved in Outdoor Education for a very successful and enjoyable year. Mr Brendan Chapman Outdoor Education
