06 PHASING

PHASE 3 15-30 YEARS • The third phase of the green link will complete the entire link heading North between Poplar and Bow. The extension will be carried out between Langdon Park DLR station (incorporating it) and the Limehouse Cut canal. The extension will be 440m in length, completing the entire covering of the DLR tracks. • East India Dock Road will be transformed through the traffic calming scheme. The improvements will create safer streets with direct crossing points for pedestrians, widened sidewalks and segregated cycle lanes. The transformation of East India Dock Road has been placed in phase 3 due to the prediction of lower vehicle dependence by 2035. This allows the potential for vehicle lanes to be lowered and more space to be allocated to pedestrians and cyclists. The works on East India Dock Road are expected to start and complete within the first 5 years of phase 3. • The final phase of the public realm strategy will be implemented on Hale Street and Woodstock Terrace, providing a continuous public realm connection between Chrisp Street Market and Poplar High Street. • The framework forecasts the Billingsgate Market site allocation to come forward for redevelopment. A new pedestrian link via the DLR station will cross Aspen Way and further improve connections between Poplar and Canary Wharf. The site will become a significant mixeduse neighbourhood easing the transition between Poplar and Canary Wharf. • There is going to be a significant refurbishment of the Lansbury Estate with potential for new built elements.
