The East London Green Link looks to reconnect Poplar town with its East London neighbours, and reconnect the neighbourhood itself with its heritage, through design interventions and policies that serve to protect and enhance the area’s unique character.
This vision recognises Poplar as an authentic puzzle piece of hardworking and vibrant East London. In celebration of its local identity, this plan aims to foster a genuine sense of place for both locals and visitors alike. In preparing the area for future population changes, this vision does not compromise on prioritising the needs of the long-standing residents, who give Poplar its dynamic character.
This reclaiming of Poplar by and for its residents will reinvigorate the local area with new living, working and social opportunities and an improved environmental outlook as a unique but integrated part of East London.
