CYCLE NETWORK

With Poplar’s Cycle Superhighway, a local cycle network would feed into this existing network and promote a modal shift from vehicle travel to cycle travel. Poplars Cycle Superhighway is currently underutilised and has the capacity to accommodate for this modal shift.

Cycling is one of the cleanest modes of transport in regard to climate change. Promoting cycling will reduce Poplar’s dependence on vehicles and will lower households carbon footprints. The cycle network champions socio-environmental sustainability through promotion of cleaner travel and exercise. The network will improve connectivity with greater ease and safety for cyclists travelling to surrounding areas such as Bow and Canary Wharf.
