https://www.truck-manuals.net/mack/ OPERATION 97 CAB TILT OPERATION DANGER Before attempting to tilt the cab, be certain to take the following steps: • Park on a level surface. • Apply the parking brake. • Place the gearshift lever in NEUTRAL position. • Shut off the engine. • Secure all loose items within the cab. • Close the cab doors.
The cab is mounted on the chassis frame by two front hinges and two rear cab locks. This arrangement allows the cab to tilt forward to a maximum of 60 degrees, exposing the engine compartment for easy accessibility. The cab tilt system uses one hydraulic cylinder. It incorporates internal safety valves which lock up automatically if the cab moves too rapidly in either direction. The hydraulic fluid pressure imbalance forces the check valves to seat, holding the cab in a hydraulically locked position. If this situation occurs, operate the pump in the opposite direction to open the check valves. The system will then be returned to normal operation.
