• Frame and crossmembers not damaged

• Proper placarding.

• Check steps and grab handles for looseness breakage. Also, clean them there any substance that makes them slippery , which makes cab entry/exit hazardous.

• Start the check that exhaust rain cap opens when accelerating

• Check gauges and tell - tale light function. See the Instruments and Controls section.

• Check tail brake emergency flashers and turn signal lights for proper cleanliness and proper color

• Check function low air warning.

• Check clutch function. equipped, check for clutch brake function.

• Check windshield wipers and washers and including back -

• Clean inside windshield, door windows and instruments. Clean mirrors.

• Check temperature control and defroster check mirror heater

• Check condition warning triangles, fire extinguisher and flares.

• Adjust the Check mirror

• Check safety belts for function and damage.

• Apply service brakes. After initial drop, pressure should hold steady , increase slightly , with engine idle.

• Check slack adjusters and chamber pushrod

• Check steering wheel for excessive free play .

Step 16: Before Leaving the Parking Area

• Remove chocks from the wheels.

• T est parking brakes stopping a 20% grade and applying the parking brakes. The parking brakes shall hold the combined vehicle and trailer without moving.
