COUPLING A TRAILER
Position the tractor directly front the trailer .
Back the trailer slowly until the fifth wheel just contacts the trailer
Place the transmission neutral and apply the parking brakes.
Connect the trailer glad hands and electrical connector
Caution
Make sur e the trailer air lines and the trailer electrical cor d e operly supported they will not pinched caught while the tractor being backed under the trailer .
Check that the fifth wheel height matches the height the underside the trailer . the trailer too high, use the landing gear lower the trailer until fifth wheel and trailer height match. the vehicle equipped with air suspension and the trailer too low , use the air suspension control switch exhaust air from the suspension air bags until fifth wheel and trailer height match.
Caution
Failur e match fifth wheel height with trailer height will r esult the trailer being impr operly connected.
Back under the trailer slowly until the trailer king pin engages. Back slowly avoid hitting the king pin too hard, and stop soon the king pin locked into the fifth wheel.

10. Push the trailer air supply valve (red octagonal knob) supply the trailer system with air pressure. With the air system normal operating pressure, check the trailer air brake system for excessive leakage and proper operation.
