IGLS Igls ist Teil der Stadt Innsbruck, wurde aber erst 1941 eingemeindet. Es liegt auf einer Mittelgebirgsterrasse auf rund 870 Metern Seehöhe am Fuße des Innsbrucker Hausberges, des Patscherkofels. Dieser ist mit einer modernen Seilbahn bestens erschlossen und Ausgangspunkt des beliebten Zirbenweges. Heute ist Igls bei Gästen als Urlaubsdestination ebenso beliebt wie bei den Einheimischen als Wohnort. Richtung Norden erstreckt sich ein kleines Tal mit dem Viller und Igler Moor, ein Naherholungsgebiet für viele Innsbruckerinnen und Innsbrucker. Der Lanser See, ebenfalls nur einen Katzensprung von Igls entfernt, lädt im Sommer ganz entspannt zum Baden. Überdies hat der Ort ein kleines, aber feines Kongresszentrum, das ausgesprochen malerisch im Kurpark liegt. // Igls is part of the city of Innsbruck but was only incorporated in 1941. It lies on a terrace at an altitude of about 870 metres above sea level at the foot of Innsbruck’s local mountain, the Patscherkofel. The Patscherkofel is well-connected by a modern cable car and is the starting point of the popular Zirbenweg trail. Today Igls is as popular with guests as a holiday destination as it is with the locals as a place to live. To the north is a small valley with the Viller and Igler Moor, a local recreation area for many Innsbruck residents. The Lanser See, also only a stone’s throw away from Igls, invites you for a relaxing swim in summer. The town also has a small but excellent congress centre, which is situated in a very picturesque location in the Kurpark.
