Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) As an NVA hospital you most likely fall into the requirements to provide Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) for your employees. FMLA eligible employees are entitled to take up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job protected leave. Protected leave to eligible employees for the following reasons: • • • •
For incapacity due to pregnancy, prenatal medical care or childbirth; To care for the employee's child after birth, or placement for adoption or foster care; To care for the employee's spouse, son or daughter, or parent, who has a serious health condition; or For a serious health condition that makes the employee unable to perform the employee's job.
Employees are eligible for FMLA leave if they have: • • •
Been employed with covered company for at least a year Worked at least 1,250 hours during the previous year. Work at a location with at least 50 employees within a 75-mile radius.
