Values, Vision, and Structure
National Veterinary Associates is different!
We have a different vision and support method than many of the other “corporate” veterinary entities you may be familiar with. Here are some of the key differences you can look forward to:
• At its very core, NVA is an organization built around the idea of care; Care for animals, for clients, for DVMs, and for their staff. We pursue established, stable, successful hospitals and won’t change those things that make them great (the name, people, and medicine). That’s why we call it a “legacy” of care, it’s something permanent and enduring, and something no other company in our space can legitimately claim.
• We do not dictate medicine/medical practice (will not require specific procedures, RX, etc.): we want hospitals to practice high quality medicine consistent with or above local and national standards but that medicine is decided locally, by the Managing Veterinarian and DVM team.
We can provide support and education in some cases if a doctor or hospital has a special interest or wants to develop new skills. There is no formulary – we don’t mandate what medications can and can’t be used. Ordering and inventory is done at the local level as it has been done in the past.
• We will not change normal operations of the hospital. Hospital policies including hours, employee schedules, holidays, etc. will stay the same.
• We will not change your benefits. With the possible exception of health care, your benefits will remain as they are. CE and pet benefits will be the same as they have in the past. Health care is assessed for legal compliance and if we move a hospital to the NVA plan, it is one that is equal to the current level of benefits. If you do not receive health benefits now, you will have the opportunity in the future.
• Vacation, Sick Leave, or PTO – Will be assessed and matched to NVA Policy that best aligns with your current policy or slightly improves employee benefits. This will happen right away and be implemented when you join NVA. We will work with you to determine the best approach and provide you with policy language that you can use going forward that explains the new vacation, sick leave, or PTO policy and legally aligns with your state.
• We will not change personnel (no hiring and firing procedure will occur).
• We will not brand as NVA – hospital keeps your name, your culture, your logos, your legacy!
