Why did you decide to get into real estate?
To be honest, I was not enjoying the field I was in prior to real estate. I had been friends with Pam and Doug’s daughters for a while, so I got to dip into “The Shaw Team” before I even joined the team. I found the housing market fascinating and decided to pursue it full-time without hesitation. I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but I also knew how rewarding it could be if I worked hard. What does success mean to you?
Success to me isn’t money — it’s happiness. Life is too short to be doing something you don’t enjoy. Money is a factor, but it is certainly not the main factor for me. I would rather be making little money but be so happy that I couldn’t contain it! Right now, I feel successful every day because I get to help people. I have always been that type of person — the “mom” of the group — and I care for others deeply. Being able to help and make connections with my clients every day has made me feel successful. When are you at your best?
I am my best, without a doubt, when I am happy. Happiness for me is huge — it keeps me going. I am also my best when I am encouraged and surrounded by other positive people. I try to encourage the “negative Nancies” of the world to be more like the “positive Pennies.” Although I am not perfect, I also have my off days. I have been trying to take one day at a time to really be my best self each day.

has also been with me in my hardest times, encouraging me to get right back up and continue on. As a 2021 Best-in-Class honoree, what are your words of wisdom for the next generation of real estate agents?
Stick with it, don’t give up. Even when it’s hard, remind yourself that you did this for a reason and that commitment and hard work will get you where you want to be. Lean on your mentors and on those you work with to really learn the business of real estate. Work hard, smile, laugh and be encouraging to others. Make relationships, and be there for your clients.
