Why did you decide to get into real estate?

I reluctantly got my license at the suggestion of a prior mentor — so grateful for that nudge and so happy I took the leap of faith!

What are you most excited about in your life right now?

Watching my kids grow up — being a dad and husband are two of my favorite things. I am also super excited about my partnership with eXp and the growth plan I have in place for my business. Big things planned for 2021! grateful for her! My mom, dad, sister and grandparents, of course, for their love and support. My first broker and prior mentor, Brian Kirksey, of Ethos Real Estate. Sherry Swift and Anthony Gargaro of eXp Realty, and all the mentors I get to learn from through podcasts and books. Finally, my clients, friends and extended family. They constantly show me love and shower me with referrals, and I am so grateful for their support.

As a 2021 Best-in-Class honoree, what are your words of wisdom for the next generation of real estate agents?

Listen to what your client wants and provide that. It’s not about what you want. We are here to be knowledge brokers, to be of maximum service, and to take care of and keep our clients safe through some of the largest transactions of their lives.

What do you do to stay grounded/centered/sane?

Daily exercise, meditation, enough water and a healthy diet. Hanging with my family and friends, disconnecting for movie nights and/or reading at home.

How did your challenges shape who you are today?

I experienced quite a few challenges growing up. I was actively addicted to drugs and alcohol as a teenager and spent years in and out of treatment programs. I got sober on Sept. 7, 2009, at 20 years old and have been on a journey of recovery and learning about myself and the world ever since. I am still sober to this day! Many of my very close friends passed away, and I miss them quite a bit. Their passing motivated me to live my life to the absolute fullest — to honor them, their friendship and their passing. It’s easy to be grateful nowadays when I look back on and compare it to what I previously experienced. I went from living on a couch and being actively addicted at 19, with only a few very strained relationships remaining, to living in my dream home with a beautiful wife, two kids and a life I enjoy and am proud of at 31. So much pain, growth, sacrifice and faith to get here and so excited about where life is headed. I am truly grateful!

Who has helped you get where you are today?

My wife, Nicole, and our kids, Gracie and Myla. It would be so much more difficult to be doing the stuff I am doing if my wife wasn’t so supportive of my goals and dreams — so
