Why did you decide to get into real estate?

I wanted to help people find their dream home and help others achieve their dreams of homeownership when they didn’t think it was possible. It has grown into using real estate to create passive income. Leveraging real estate is one way to gain wealth.

What does success mean to you?

I have learned through helping others that if you love what you are doing, you will be successful. I feel that money does not always equate to success. Instead of focusing on the money 100% of the time, I am more interested in seeing who I can help.

What are you most excited about in your life right now?

Outside of my real estate business, I have created a way to generate passive income through rental properties. I just purchased my second and will have a third soon — with no cash out of pocket. I will be looking for properties out of state to use as an Airbnb investment. Also through eXp Realty, I have been able to help so many agents create a stronger business. Seeing them take off has been extremely exciting and rewarding.

What do you do to stay grounded/ centered/sane?

I love being able to come home to my girlfriend Morgan and our puppy Ozzy. Morgan is way more relaxed than me, so she knows how to keep me from going crazy and helps me stay grounded.

How did your challenges shape who you are today?

Starting out in real estate was a challenge itself. 80% of first-year agents fail. When I started, I had very minimal personal funds and a huge commute to my team and office every day. This made me determined to succeed — I didn’t let the thought of failure scare me away from doing what I wanted to do.

Who has helped you get where you are today?

I have had several great mentors over the last five years, starting with Mark Z. Z gave me the tools to be successful through his team, and I never took it for granted — I will use the information he has given me and apply it for the rest of my life. A few other members I have met through Z and who helped me in the beginning are Kirk Weber, Ryan Warren and Garrett Huffman.

As a 2021 Best-in-Class honoree, what are your words of wisdom for the next generation of real estate agents?

Don’t look at others to measure your success, and do the work. In real estate, so many people look for the magic pill — it does not exist. You have to do the work.
