Age: 26 Number of Years in Real Estate: 2

Why did you decide to get into real estate? I have been exposed to the real estate world for as long as I can remember. I used to help my grandparents with their fixer-uppers and rentals when I was younger and even went to my first closing around age 4. It has always been an interest of mine, but it really got brought to my attention when I was going into my second year of college and a family friend thought it would be a good career choice for me. After I graduated and had a couple of different jobs — all of which never really gave me the satisfaction I needed but did give me the confidence for the next step — we talked again, and I decided to make the leap. Now here I am working at Real Estate One. Thanks, Abby!

What are you most excited about in your life right now? My husband and I just sold our fixer-upper 1890 farmhouse that we poured a lot of blood, sweat and tears into and just bought a new house, which is not a farmhouse or a fixer-upper.

What do you do to stay grounded/ centered/sane? I try and have fun in everything I do and see the light in it. I remember why I chose this job, and whenever I am feeling like I am falling short, I then, shortly after, have my busiest times. I also go for a run or walk, pray and always keep the wine stocked.

Who has helped you get where you are today? Cliché, I know, but my family and my friends. They are all so important to me. Each of them has helped me in their own special way. It is the little things that really go a long way for me. Of course, my husband as well — that pretty much goes without saying. I keep him on his toes every day, and he still sticks around to my surprise. We have been together for almost 10 years; he is my rock through it all.

As a 2021 Best-in-Class honoree, what are your words of wisdom for the next generation of real estate agents? Go into the office and just listen to other agents. You will learn so much from that. You will make mistakes along the way, but be sure to make it a learning opportunity for yourself — that will make you a better real estate agent and, most importantly, a better version of yourself.

FAST FACTS & FAVORITES Bucket list item? Open a soup and sandwich deli called Carter’s Café Guilty pleasure? Ice cream Most influential “teacher” or mentor in real estate? Abby Hotchkiss — the one who got me into real estate and who continues to help guide me along the way. Something you can’t live without? Family, friends, my

husband, my puppy Cash and country music Habit you want to shake? Being late — not sure if that is a habit or if it is in my bloodline because we are all always running late. Saying or expression that you probably say too often? “You wanna know what happened to me today?” followed by some crazy story like the time I was stuck in a car wash on my way to my first listing appointment. Something you loved doing as a kid that you still love doing as an adult? Decorating for Christmas Favorite school subject? Gym — I like to be on the move and active. It was a great outlet for me.
