INKUNDLA

Fellow Tablers,
I am honoured to have been voted in, during my last year of active member, at the national AGM as your magazine editor. You have my full commitment to produce editions during the year that I hope will make you and the organisation proud. I am very excited to say the least.
As this is the first edition, I would like to take the opportunity to share my ideas for the year. My vision is to take the magazine to a next level, ultimately improve reach and readership. I will encourage new ideas in addition to the normal typical reports such as projects, fellowship, assemblies etc. (which is very important).
The vision is that any young man/tabler should be able to take away something from the magazine in form of a life skill or learning more about this wonderful organisation. So as part of development, I encourage and challenge you to think outside the box and let’s teach each other and learn by thinking of new ideas for reports in addition to the standard ones.
With that said, with limited time following ARTSA I present you with my very first edition which is a dedicated edition for ARTSA 2023, Bosveld.
Enjoy reading, hope to make you proud.

Dear fellow members of the Round Table,
As I stand here today, I am filled with a mix of emotions - gratitude, joy, and a tinge of sadness. It has been an honour to serve as your president for the past year, and I am thankful for all the memories we have made together.
First and foremost, I want to thank God for allowing me the opportunity to serve and lead to my wife and children for allowing me to miss weekends, games, galas, shows, birthdays etc to follow this Rondel. I LOVE YOU All DEEPLY, then each and every one of you, exec, ASSCO and Tablers for your unwavering support and dedication to our cause. Without your hard work and commitment, our organization would not be where it is today. Your tireless efforts have helped us make a positive impact in our community, and for that, I am forever grateful. IMPACTFUL CHANGE!!!
But let's not forget the fun we've had along the way. From our lively debates during meetings to our unforgettable charity events, we have created some truly hilarious memories. I will always cherish the time we spent together, laughing and making the most of every moment.
As I reflect on my time as your president, I can't help but feel a sense of pride. We have accomplished so much this year - from raising funds for local charities to creating awareness about important social issues like Men’s health with the Don’t Camo yourself campaign etc. Together, we have made a difference, and that is something to be proud of.
In closing, I want to say thank you once again for giving me the opportunity to serve as your president. It has been a privilege and an honour, and I will never forget the lessons I have learned and the friendships I have made. As I step down from this role, I know that I leave the Round Table in capable hands, and I look forward to seeing all the great things you will achieve in the years to come.
Thank you, and cheers to a successful year!
Yours In Table - Outgoing President , Werner Swanepoel
I trust that you all will enjoy this month’s ARTSA edition Inkundla. It truly was an Artsa to remember, especially the opening evenings entertainment with that brilliant video and confetti blaster, masterminded by Sarel Ras.
The standard of the Area food tables has probably been the best I’ve seen in my table career. Well done to Gauteng for walking away with the trophy and well done to Wynand Swart, his team and the Bosveld area for hosting a brilliantly executed Artsa at Weesgerus…and let’s not forget the Owen Braai tour convenors, Stiaan & Johnny.
The first two weeks of the term was eventful and not short of any challenges. I’m lucky to have a very talented and experienced executive council that can handle any issue. 5 of the 9 members have been tablers in excess of 10 years and a total of 18 Assco years, excluding the coming term. We are grateful to the members for entrusting us with this duty!!
In closing, I’m looking forward to running the Oxpecker trail this month to help raise funds for Pevensey Place, that was started by RTSA in 1972.
YiT Louis Radley RTSA President 2023/24Good day 41ers-to-be! (If you left Table at Artsa in Weesgerus, that is you).
For those of you who do not know me, I am Ben Burger, 41ers Association President. I Tabled at Bloemfontein 25 for 11 years and George 30 for two years before I left at 40. I had the honour of being an Honourary Member of Bellville 65 after I had arrived in Cape Town in 2015.
I have been a fully-fledged member of the 41er Association of Southern Africa since I left Table and I have served on the Exec for seven years, now as President.
As you have now left Table – a place that you love and that has played a huge role in your life – remember that there is life after Table. It is called the 41er Association of Southern Africa. It was formed in 1968, so we have been around for some time.
If you attended Artsa 2023, I hope that you also attended the legendary 41er kuier hosted by Suren and Dellorin. I heard it was epic. There, amongst others, you would have learned more about our beloved 41ers Association.
The Association exists to keep the hinges of friendship oiled and to make sure that the chains of fellowship that bind us together remain unbroken. We do so inter alia by having regular gatherings and attending Table meetings because as 41ers we must give something back to Round Table, the organisation that made us the upstanding gentlemen we are today. Without Table we would not know each other, nor have become great friends. Your time in Table is now finished, but you can still make a difference.
Here at the 41ers you can be as formal or as relaxed as you want to be when it comes to meetings. Remember, we did our bit when we were Tablers, so now it is about fellowship and giving back to Table.
How we give back is up to each one personally, be it by attending Round Table meetings, or helping with their projects or just giving advice, but we must give back.
If there is no official 41er club in your town or area, contact me (or any of the Exec members, we are on 41er World) and we will gladly assist you. You can also find us on Facebook (Yes, I know it is social media for old people, but …).
I invite each and everyone of you to join as a fully-fledged member of the 41ers Association of Southern Africa so that we can ensure that the chains of fellowship that bind us together remain unbroken.
The 41er Association looks forward to welcoming you as fully-fledged members. If you have any queries, please contact me at president@41ers.co.za.
Yours in eternal fellowship
Ben Burger41er Association President 2022/2023
With ARTSA having been just 2 weeks ago, many of us are still recovering from what truly was an epic event. Many of us converged on Weesgerus to celebrate our achievements from the last year. Tablers from all over Southern Africa and many international countries came together in Bosveld to share in great fellowship and all things Round Table.
In just under 4 months from now, we have a chance to host the world in Cape Town. With more than 650 participants and more than 40 associations registered, this promises to be the biggest World Meetings outside of Europe ever. Anticipation is building internationally to come to South Africa, and it would be great to have many local Tablers present.
Our second early bird period runs from the 1st of May to the 30th of June. From the 1st of July onwards, an additional 10% increase will be added to all registration costs. This shows that securing your spot at the World Meeting as soon as possible is wise.
We have made registering easy and created many options for joining the World Meeting. We have registration packages, including and excluding accommodation. We also have registration options available for specific days only. You can build your own World Meeting experience to your exact wishes.
We realise that joining the World Meeting is expensive with the current exchange rate. With a prohibition against offering local Tabler's discounts, we are limited in what we can do on a pricing front.
Another common question is "What is included in the registration?". Your registration includes:
• Collection and return at the Cape Town International Airport during the RTI World Meeting;
• All transport during the RTI World Meeting to and from events and meetings;
• Accommodation at a 4-star minimum hotel, including breakfast for the nights as registered (if registered with accommodation);
• Lunch and dinner daily, with meal preferences to be catered for as registered;
• Access to all meetings and events as per the RTI World meeting schedule;
• Goodie bag worth R 3,000 when registering for the entire event; and
• Drinks, subject to reasonable limits.
Remember that this is a 5-day, 4-night event, and it is fully inclusive, with you having to spend very little, if any, of your own money.
Many more surprises are being planned, and without knowing the full number of registrations, it is impossible to know and list all that we have planned. It is essential to know that the goal is not to make a profit from the event but to ensure the event is as great as it can possibly be. All funds received are being put into making the World Meeting bigger and better for everyone.
Why not get your hands dirty and become part of the team? We are looking for hands to help us during the event. We have several roles that we need help with during the World Meeting. Should you be interested in helping out, please get in touch with us at convenor@rtiwm.org.
At the Nations night on the 7th of September, we will make 6 different potjies. We have invited areas to be involved and will sponsor 2 tickets per area to help us make the Nations night a great success. This evening is an unmissable highlight of any major RTI event, and with your help, it will be the best ever. Get in touch with your area Chairman, who has the details on how you can get involved.
Lastly, for those who has connections and those who know the right people. We are looking for sponsorships for items relating to the World Meeting. This can range from transport to goodies, gifts, or wine. We are incentivising anyone who comes with a sponsorship that we use with a rebate for the event. We will offer 25% of the value of the sponsored item we use as a credit at the event, so getting your tickets fully paid for is possible!!!
At the end of the day, it really does not matter how you get involved. The most important thing is to be there. Do not miss the Tabling event of the year!
Registrations are open now at www.rtiwm.org. To stay up to date on all major updates, follow the World Meeting's Facebook page at https://web.facebook.com/profile. php?id=100086965612436.
If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact us at convenor@rtiwm.org.

As a proud member of Round Table Gauteng, I feel a sense of excitement and pride every time I see our organisation's logo. It's not just a simple image - it's a representation of who we are as an organisation, and what we stand for.
Our logo is based on the Johannesburg skyline, which is a symbol of the economic and cultural importance of Gauteng. It's a reminder that we are part of a larger community, and that we have a responsibility to use our skills and resources to make a positive impact on the people around us.
But our logo is more than just a symbol of the present - it's also a nod to the past. The mining elements that are incorporated into the logo are a reminder of the historical importance of the mining industry to the region's development. It's a recognition of the hard work and sacrifice of those who came before us, and a commitment to building on their legacy.
When I look at our logo, I see a powerful representation of our values as an organisation. It represents our commitment to fellowship, community service, and personal development. It reminds me of the bonds of friendship that I have formed with my fellow members, and the amazing work that we have accomplished together.
But more than anything, our logo represents hope. It's a reminder that even in the face of adversity, we can make a difference. That we have the power to shape our own future, and to create a better world for ourselves and those around us.
As a proud member of Round Table Gauteng, I am honored to be part of an organisation that embodies these values. And every time I see our logo, I am reminded of the amazing journey that we are on together, and the incredible things that we can accomplish when we work together towards a common goal.
Yours in Table
Wesley de Kock Public Relations Officer Round Table Gauteng Area Wesley de KockRound Table Middelburg 126 “Legs” as they call the ladies behind the men at Round Table,(without legs a table won’t be able to stand)
Monique van Wyngaardt, Nicole van der Walt, Danielle Geldenhuys, Sara Tibboald and Sandra Lawrenson had their Easter Egg Project collection on the 8th of April at the Care Village Middelburg and collected over 3900 easter eggs and had load of fun and laughter. The easter eggs collected was donated to uMephi, Koppiestraat Project NPC, Lighuis Gemeente Middelburg and Care Village Middelburg.
Thanks to everyone who took part in our project that made this possible and a big thanks to Midwater Centre for allowing us to use their grounds and to the community for their continued support with generous donations.
Middelburg, South Africa - Round Table Middelburg 126 has been a long-standing institution of brotherhood, fellowship, and community work. Their commitment to giving back to the community is admirable, and their camaraderie is infectious. This is the story of how I became a part of this amazing organization.
As I embarked on my journey to become a Round Table Middelburg 126 Pipeliner, I never knew what kind of adventures lay ahead. I mean, sure, I had heard about their community work, camaraderie, and brotherhood, but I had no idea that I was about to enter a world of fun, hard work, and endless laughter. It all started with my girlfriend taking me to the Sabie Tube Race hosted by Round Table Whiteriver 64. I'll never forget that day because it was the first time I ever saw grown men in superhero costumes trying to navigate an inflatable tube down a river. It was hilarious, to say the least, and I knew I had stumbled upon something special.
But it wasn't until I met Wesley Warrick, a Tabler, and family member of my girlfriend, that I truly understood what it meant to be a part of the Round Table. Wesley was like a walking encyclopaedia of Round Table knowledge. He talked about the community work they did, the
friendships they built, and the impact they made in their local communities. I was sold.
Fast forward to 2023, and I finally got my chance to meet the Round Table Middelburg 126 Tablers. Cuan Maizey and Wesley Warrick went on a two-man mission to find the Middelburg 126 Tablers in a crowd of party-going tubers. And so off I went with Cuan to meet the people who would change my life and inspire me to do more for my community. We met at the Sabie Tube Race, and I have to say, it was like meeting a group of longlost friends. Foxie Lieuwes and Nj van Wyngaardt, (Chairman, and Secretary) of Middelburg 126, welcomed me with open arms and made me feel like I belonged from the start. It was clear that these guys were more than just a group of friends - they were family.
My first meeting was an eyeopener. I learned about the core values of the Round Table, including fellowship, service, and leadership. They talked about their upcoming events and how they planned to make a difference in their local community. I knew then that I wanted to be a part of this amazing group of people. The first event I attended was an airshow, and let me tell you, it was no easy feat. We had to wake up at the crack of dawn, set up tables and stalls, and make sure everything
was in order for the crowds that would soon arrive. But it was all worth it. Seeing the joy on people's faces as they watched the planes fly overhead was truly fulfilling. And the best part? I got to do it all with my new brothers and give back to the community at the same time.
But it's not just the events that make being a Tabler so special. It's the friendships that you build along the way. I have met some of the most amazing people through the Round Table, and I know that these friendships will last a lifetime. And now, as a I continue my Journey to Round Table Middelburg 126, I'm excited to see what the future holds. There's no doubt that there will be more adventures, more laughter, and more memories to be made. But one thing is for sure - I'll always have my Round Table brothers by my side.
So here's to the Round Table Middelburg 126 - the brotherhood that has changed my life for the better. And as we say at Middelburg 126, "Daar k@k 'n Haas!"
JR SmithI would like to share a very special story wich is close to my heart and what Round Table was and still is capable of. I (Foxie Lieuwes) had to go down to Pongola for a work project.I know the town and the people I was brought up in, Pongola, and my Father was a Tabler at Pongola 222 and also where my love and Pasion for Table started.
Pongola is a very small farming town based in Northern KwaZulu Natal, the Pongola Table has been placed in dormancy. So my story starts with I arrived the Sunday night at Pongola and booked in at the Guest House for the week. Myaelf and the work guys had supper and went to our rooms to have a good night rest for the morning to come.So on Monday morning we woke up went for breakfast and made our way to the sugar mill to report for Induction to commence work. To my surprise the main contractor did not submit our safety file and I had to make up a complete new Safety File before we could even think about doing induction. Without the required resources and correct equipment I could not have done it and to travel back and down from Middelburg would not have been productive and economical.
So I went to an old Tabler who have tabled with my dad in their good old days and of which I have so many memories. So of I went to Mnr Corrie Van Rensburg a past chairman of PONGOLA 222 to asked for Assistance from his office. With a great smile Corrie said to me,Foxie, you know it will never be a problem for one Tabler to assist another and help when in need. He made his own personal Office available and offered me a chair and logged me on to their Wi-Fi and gave me access to a Printer.
So I started to work and get my safety file in order and I could print all the necessary documents for my office who mailed mailed it to me. In about three days my safety file was complete and approved and we could start to work on site. I can with an open heart say this was only possible due to one tabler knowing a fellow tabler and to assist with any problem where they can. This is why I enjoy table so much and what we have to offer one another is truly amazing. I really hope that Pongola 222 will get active soon and Table like in the old days making a difference and sharing the knowledge with others. I can easily say that Pongola 222 will definitely be with me forever as my roots started there with table and how one more Matured tabler opens his doors and welcomes a you tabler in to assist and to share stories and old memories this makes my blood flow.
Thank you for taking Time reading this article and a very great thank you to Mnr Corrie Van Rensburg and his wife and office Pollol Nel Brokers for all the assistance and Help you have offered. May you all be blessed and see you soon.
Kind Regards

Daar was 12 uit die 16 tafels wat ingeskryf het en potte gemaak het.
Alhoewel dit op die dag gereën het, het dit niemand teruggehou nie en die potte het geprut met Saldanha 226 wat die eerste plek verower het.

Michael de Winnaar"May the hinges of friendship never rust May the chains of fellowship that bind us together remain unbroken"
Once again it was epic! The second annual 41er Association of Southern Africa Golf Tour was hosted in Stellenbosch at the end of March.
Past RTSA and RTI President Rikus “Running Bare” Badenhorst and past RTSA President Stuart Hunter were the conveners of the golf tour and like last year, the entire weekend was like hitting a hole in one on a Par 5 – absolute magic!
Attended by 12 golfers (and I am using the term very loosely) including two internationals and two non-playing bar cart drivers, everyone agreed that it was an unforgettable weekend of fun and fellowship where long-standing friendships were renewed, and new friendships cemented.
It started on the Thursday with a welcoming party where everyone received his tournament shirt and long walks down memory lane over a glass or two of wine was at the order of the evening.
On Friday morning – with dark clouds threatening to derail the day’s golf – everyone was in good spirits and ready to tee of at Stellenbosch Golf Club. With a slight chill in the air, the first four-ball started proceedings.
After about an hour or so, the dark clouds made way for blue skies and sun and the weather turned into perfect golf weather. Unfortunately, not even the best golfing weather could help some players get the ball past the ladies tee, but it is not about the winning, it is about the taking part…
The day was ended at the 19th hole with great food, fellowship and fun.
Day 2 started with even darker clouds over Stellenbosch and as everyone made their way to Stellenbosch Golf Club for the 3rd Exec meeting of the 41ers Association, the heavens opened.
The Class of 2023 in their fancy tour shirts prior to tee-off on day 1 of the second annual 41er Golf Tour in Stellenbosch. In the first row, from left are Tyrone Juul, Suren Packery and Ben Burger; second row: Jeroen Schuuring, Rob Gordon, Tony Stock, Stuart Hunter and Frankie “Two Hats” Baden; third row: Peter Harding, Dellorin Bornman, Tim Brauteseth, Rikus Badenhorst and Nico McNamara. The second round of golf, this time at neighbouring De Zalze Golf Club, due to start after the meeting, was in serious jeopardy due to the bad weather.
The merry band of golfers were however not going to let any amount of torrential rain ruin their second round and so they teed off just before noon in miserable weather. Unfortunately for the players, the bar cart was not equipped to go out in the rain (which was the official version of the story), so it had to remain at the 19th hole with two very disappointed bar cart drivers who could not provide their essential service to players on the course.
So, after 18 very wet holes, the players headed for the change room and after a warm shower and dry clothes everyone was ready for more fellowship and the prize-giving at the Stellenbosch Golf Club, which was the headquarters of the golf tour.
Winner of the inaugural event in George in 2022, Peter Harding (past 41er President) could not defend his title and Rikus “Running Bare” Badenhorst was crowned as the winner.
Everyone agreed that the second annual 41er Golf Tour was amazing and that this event is a must for every 41er, even if you are not a golfer.
The third annual 41er Golf Tour will be hosted by the Johannesburg 41ers next year, so start cleaning those golf clubs as this also promises to be an unmissable event.
Round Table South Cape is an area of Round Table Southern Africa that is situated in the commonly known, Garden Route. Currently Round Table South Cape Area comprises of 4 Tables, namely, George 30, Mossel Bay 32, Oudtshoorn 33 and Swellendam 179.
Round Table South Cape Area is perhaps best known throughout Round Table both locally and internationally, as the custodians of The Buffalo Club. It is here that the Buffalo Club and its rich traditions came to be, in 1991. Therefore, the reference to “The Original Buffalo Zone”, as can be seen on our Area Logo.
We are a small area that accounts for massive results. We are driven by our desire and passion for making a difference in the communities we serve. Thus, our motto, #MaaknVerskil. Each Table in our Area carries with it a deeply engrained role and responsibility to deliver and continue to grow lasting impactful change, that uplifts and restores the lives of all those that we encounter to a higher sense of self.
As an Area, we are responsible for various projects annually, which have garnered National and International attention such as the Beach Cleanup Campaign, founded by Mossel Bay 32 and later adopted by George 30. As coastal Tables, the importance of these ongoing projects can never be understated.
Our rich traditions are upheld by the close bond we have with those that came before us. This is evident, given our strong 41’er contingent who continuously interact with us to offer advice and assistance when needed. We also boast extremely strong bonds with various other service clubs throughout our Area, such as Ladies Circle, Lions, Rotary, Vryburgers and MOTHS. Through these relationships, we can combine and serve our communities to a larger extent.
As an Area that carries with it, all the beauty and splendour this country has to offer, we are an extremely popular destination for International and Local Tablers who visit our shores. This serves as a cornerstone of the fellowship and forever lasting relationships we forge with all who visit us.
If you are ever in our part of the world, we welcome you.

Niel Enslin South Cape Area IRO / PROOn the 7th of March 2023 our newly inducted Chairman Daneel “Shades” Meiring and his lovely wife Karlien Meiring made little Lienke Meiring a big sus, by welcoming into the world their second child, a beautiful and perfectly healthy little girl, Leané Meiring.
We as table and community is so happy and very proud of this moment in the lives of the Meirings, we know that Leané and Lienke are loved by all, and we are so excited to see what the future holds for them. One thing you can count on, its going to be bright one!!
Another thing I can tell you is, old Shades is going to have his hands full with all the boys that’s going to come knocking, but I am sure that he will have ample support to guide those lads in the right direction (in his words away from his daughters haha).
We wish you as a family all the best for the future, you all are loved!!

Estiaan FerreiraThe 6th annual Goals for Gogo’s took place at Kloof Country Club on Friday 21 April. The event was hosted by the Round Tables of Kloof 190 and
and a field of 88 golfers took part in the day.
While the day dawned cool and windy, the weather played its part and warmed up a bit before the teams teed-off. A phenomenal day was had by all with corporate sponsors coming on board to ensure that many of the holes had fun activities and good vibes. The evening was capped off with an auction of two holiday prizes, many thanks to Ian Wyles for coming through and conducting the proceedings. These prizes kindly sponsored by Pierre le Roux from MOZambique Magazine.
The Golf Day is a fundraising activity for sewing and business courses for ladies from the Valley of 1000 Hills whereby funds raised are used to source and acquire sewing machines and the ladies are
taught how to manufacture their own clothing using materials from Hillcrest Aids Centre Trust. The ladies then take part in a business course which enables them to start their own small scale businesses within their communities and generate an income for their families.
Over the course of the last 6 years, over 80 gogos have taken part in the course, with 40 of those being further upskilled and completing an advanced sewing course. And then currently another 60 gogos are involved in their courses, 40 of these are in areas which are totally new!
This is a truly awesome project which is dear to the hearts of both Kloof 190 and Westville 189 and we are proud that the 2023 edition will be further adding to these numbers and assisting more gogos and their families.
We would not have been able to complete this project without the support of those corporates and individuals who took part on the day, most notably Grindrod Logistics Africa who, as the
headline sponsor, contributed R50 000 towards the proceeds on the day. In addition, the golfers all looked extremely smart in their golf shirts which were kindly sponsored by Plumb Coring, Wetwork Plumbing, and Roto Tank.
, we are extremely grateful for all their expertise and advise when it came to organizing, special thanks to Mandy Kidson and Ryan Welsh for making sure that the day went off without a hitch.
Should you like to know a little bit more about Round Table or if you would like to get involved in future projects, please drop us a message on our socials and we would be happy to call you and discuss further.
From all of us, thank you for the support. We had an absolute ball of a time and look forward to hosting you all again next year!

The vast amount corn fields, also represent the continuous growth we experience within our clubs and communities.
Round Table Richards Bay 200 hosted our annual Induction Dinner this past weekend at BON Hotel Waterfront Richards Bay.
The induction dinner was a resounding success, with guests dressed in their finest attire and mingling in a night of sophistication and elegance.
We are privileged to have had the Mayor from the City of uMhlathuze along with other distinguished guests and donors present at the function.
To our newly inducted Chairman, we wish you all the best for your year ahead.
March 9, 2023. It was a hot summer's evening on Middle Beach, Kenton on Sea. The car park was packed with two teams of Tablers eagerly waiting to settle a bitter score . Everyone had arrived early, duly skipping out of their work commitments (as Tablers are wont to do) prepared with their cricket gear and drinks, ready to take on their opponents.
The first team, aptly named "The Dream Team," consisted of an overconfident bunch of Tablers from 210. They are a ragtag bunch,
with varying degrees of fitness and skill, but all of them were united in their determination to win out over 177.
The other team, "The 177 Short Hamstrings," hit the pitch with a little more bravado and swagger than their opposition. Armed with matching shirts and all-out spirit, they undertook to produce a decisive showing.
The game began. It was clear that both teams were equally matched in terms of talent, but the difference in attitudes was stark. 210 played with a laid-back, almost carefree approach, while 177 were all about winning at any cost.
As the game progressed, the tension began to mount. 210 Captain, Pipeliner Josh Burger, was getting increasingly frustrated with his team's lack of progress and silly decisions. The score was a confident 48/6 at the end of 177's innings. 210 needed 49 runs to win and six overs to do it in.
In the end, however, it was 177 gang who emerged victorious, thanks to their relaxed approach and good humour. Alex Kenton 210 could do no better than 47/3 after six overs.
beers and jokes, while 210 team walked off the field in defeat. As they say, it's not the winning that counts, but the manner in which you play the game. And in this case, both 177 and 210 hit the pitch with a spirit of pure fellowship and a good dose of humour.
* Round Table Alex Kenton 210 had, two weeks before, in an act of swift and decisive retributive action, undertaken to appropriate (without compensation) the Buffalo of Port Alfred 177.
We donated blood on the 21st of February. Joppie, Mono, Martin and I met at NAMBTS. We all just wanted a beer, but we ended up paying with “blood, sweat and tears” (The tears came from Leigh).
I had a terrible experience at the blood bank. NamBTS did not want to accept my blood. They kept asking questions after questions, like “where did you get the blood, who’s blood is it, and why is it in a bucket.”
So Joppie, Mono and Martin ended up donating a total of 1,5 litres.
The next date for draining will be 18 April.
By Leigh WesterdaleOn March 23, 2023, a devastating accident occurred when Dominique, a 10-year-old boy, was hit by a vehicle while crossing the R619 in Arboretum, Richards Bay. The impact caused bleeding and swelling on his brain, which required immediate medical attention. Fortunately, Dominique has since been discharged from the Ngwelezana Hospital and is now back at home with his family where he is recovering.
The community's response to Dominique's accident has been inspiring. People from all walks of life have come together to offer support in various ways. Donations were made to help cover his expenses, and the community raised over R30,000, which is a remarkable show of generosity.
Ehlers Attorneys have offered to assist Dominique's family with the Road Accident Fund claim and the ambulance bill, which will undoubtedly be a significant financial relief for them. Talisman Hire Richards Bay has also stepped in to provide a generator after the family's home was left without power for days due to a severe storm we had
This happened to be our 2nd attempt at the event, with our first in 2020 within some movement restriction.
Our concept project has breathed in a little bit of new life to the standard Golf Day, but the biggest difference is that apart from the professional rugby players, most of us are in a similar position when it comes to kicking distance of a rugby ball.
RugbyGolf is therefore a no pressure, all out fellowship and fun event, based over 9 holes as 18 might lead to a near death
experience.
Rules are simple,
- One has to place off of the Tee Box
- Landing in the rough or bunker allows for only a drop kick to be used
- Being on the fairway gives you the opportunity to choose any format of kicking preference
- Should you manage to land on the green you are able to pass the ball into the box on the green.
We also have a longest accurate place kick on the 9th hole as you head back to the clubhouse. (Alexandria Golf Course)
Something that adds to the spirit of the event is that, accompanying the kickers, caddies were replaced by wheelbarrows full of beverages that supported the moral of the often overly excited participants.
Our turnover both in players and in bar takings seem to outperform the current average Golf Day by a decent amount.
Our event was in aid of a Local Community Rugby Club, called Klipfontein United, which is a nonprofessional club in a community where opportunities and role models are few and far in between.
– Often hard to find.
We have seen the pride that the game of rugby brings to the community and for that reason we are excited to help where we can. Funds Raised to be allocated to the yearly big travel expense to participate throughout the province.
We believe we have created something new and fresh
that will not only bring our communities together but will drive #impactfulchange in society.

Jacques van WykOn the weekend of the 25th of February 2023, we held our annual Round Table Golf day at our local club in Kirkwood.
We had players and sponsors travelling from all over to attend this fabulous day of ours and ultimately making it a huge success again. We also had our fellow tablers from Port Elizabeth that came through and wrote in a couple of four balls and also sponsor some prizes.
Send me a whatsapp if you are interested in seeing our very own past area Chairman Pienaar’s excellent tee shot on the sixth hole, which I have on video, sorry not sorry Balju haha.
The day was ended off with the awesome prize giving and an auction, out of the auction we also generated funds that supports our cause and what we stand for. It was again great event and we had so much fun with everyone who attended, it was filled with great fellowship and laughs, especially when we had a recap on the day and everyone’s “great shots” they played.
The Golf Day is our second biggest event we have in a term, and it was a great success again. We, as Kirkwood 78, would like to thank our community, sponsors and players for all their efforts and support on this day.

Estiaan FerreiraRound Table 276 of Yzerfontein is thrilled to host our very own Formula 1 Fantasy League! We have been running the league since the start of the season and will continue to do so until the summer break. We will then be hosting a new league for the post-summer break until the end of the championship year.
Round Table 276 of Yzerfontein invites all ARTSA and RTI members to join our Formula 1 Fantasy League for the 2023 season. We had an incredible response for the first half of the season, and we’re excited to keep the momentum going.
After three races, the league has seen some position movements, with Prolly_Drunk holding on to the top spot, Kyle Kokstad 35 close behind in second place, and Wroth T1 RT276 Yzer rounding out the top three. Tammy Auret and Andre F1 Racing have also been strong performers, sitting in the fourth and fifth positions respectively. However, with half of the season still to come, anything can happen, and we encour- age all ARTSA and RTI members to join in on the fun for the second half of the year.
Looking ahead to the second half of the season, there are many unknowns and possibili- ties. Will Verstappen maintain his advantage, or will Hamil- ton mount a comeback? Can Red Bull Racing keep up their momentum, or will Mercedes find their form again? Is As- ton Martin in with a chance? And what about the rest of the field - who will emerge as the best of the rest?
Regardless of the answers to these questions, we at Round Table 276 of Yzerfontein are excited to continue hosting our Fantasy League and raising money for important causes. We encourage all ARTSA and RTI members to join us, either in the main public league or the special tabler league, and compete for some fantastic prizes.
At the end of the day, Formula 1 is all about competition, excitement, and passion, and we hope to bring some of that same energy to our Fantasy League. So, let's rev up those engines, get in touch with us, and join the fun for the second half of the season. Who knowsmaybe you'll be the one lifting the championship trophy at the end of the year!
Charles H WrothWestville is buzzing after the success of the 2nd annual Gin and Bowls fundraiser held recently in the community. It was a day of fun, friendship, and competition as almost 20 teams competed in a game of bowls to raise funds for the Keep Westville Beautiful NPO.
The fundraiser was supported by the Durban Brewing Company, Jukes Pizza, Pick and Pay Westville, Captains Corner, and Cafe Mayfair, who provided essential support to ensure the success of the event.
Players of all ages, ranging from 16 to 70 years old, participated in the game of bowls. The atmosphere was one of camaraderie and positive energy as teams competed for the top prize.
Live music from Dave Emrie provided a lively backing track to the day's events. Along with warm-ups and delicious bacon and egg rolls, players enjoyed plenty of socializing and friendly banter throughout the day.
Keep Westville Beautiful NPO is a local group dedicated to ensuring that gardens and pavements in and around Westville are kept neat and tidy throughout the year. The event acted as a platform for the community to come together to support a worthy cause.
Organizers were grateful for the support that they received from the Westville community, whose backing was essential in making the day's fundraising efforts a success.
The Gin and Bowls fundraiser proved to be an exceptional day for the local people of Westville, who are eagerly looking forward to the next event.

The Border Area AGM was hosted by Aliwal North 55 and held in the ever-beautiful town of Kei Mouth. Great scenery set the stage for an even greater event and visitors from other Areas – Pienaar Allers and Paul Ferreira from EP Area and Antonie Smit from Bosveld Area – can attest to such.
Friday night kicked off in true Border style with a braai, t-shirt party and a generous bar tab. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening and this was made clear by the way some of the attendees’ faces looked the following morning.
Outgoing Border Area Chairman Wessel Dreyer ran an as-Walways strict, smooth and productive meeting on Saturday morning while the Legs were sent across the river with the pont to enjoy a spectacular boat cruise along the Qolora River.
Saturday evening saw everyone exquisitely dressed for the Induction Dinner. WGuest speaker and past Border Area Chairman Toby Nzuza reminded us of the importance of our Association’s Aims and Objectives while past Border Area Chairman Ryan Baisley did a great job being Master of Ceremonies and kept everyone entertained.
Border Area would like to wish the greatest of success to incoming Chairman Jethro Penny and his team.

Ballito 221 has started a project the Sandwich drive. This means that as a table Ballito 221 get together at the clubhouse to make delicious mouthwatering sandwiches for those in need in our community.
With great success our first drive took off with a lot of tablers getting involved as well as our wonderful partners. We as a club made more than 70 sandwiches which we distributed throughout the Ballito area via the back of a bakkie.
This was fun and everyone got stuck into it. From our smallest future tabler Grayson handing out sandwiches to others. We as a table try to instill good values not only in the community but also in our families, as seen with Grayson. His kindness is an inspiration to us as tablers, we can learn a lot from others. Just as we have learnt kindness through this young future tabler.
We as a table Ballito 221 wish to make this a monthly occurrence and get more exposure to make this a food drive that will help our community.
By Alex Mc IvorOn the 18th of March 2023, we attended the Round Table Eastern Province area AGM and Gala dinner. The day started with the AGM where we as an area had to bid farewell to our outgoing Area Chairman, Pienaar Allers and welcomed our new Area Chairman, Nico Schneider. After the Gala dinner we had our own private after party at “Die Poskantoor” in Adelaide, where we also spent the night. “Die Poskantoor” is a bar owned by one of our very own tablers from Adelaide 194, we had a great time there where we had the opportunity to go around and swop out stories from our past term and had great laughs. Some very important planning was also done for the next AGM.
We would also like to thank our own past Chairman and Area Chairman Johan Bruwer, who also attend the AGM, The gala Dinner and of course “Die Poskantoor”

I was selected to represent the Association of Round Tables in Southern Africa (ARTSA) as a delegate from Namibia to attend the Round Table Zambia Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2023 held in Lusaka, Zambia. Being a new tabler, I was excited to have this opportunity to experience this side of tabling.
Upon my arrival in Zambia, I was warmly welcomed at the airport by Mr. Chipinda Kakompe, the National President of Round Table Zambia 2021/22 and current National IRO/IPP 2022/23. It was a Wednesday evening, 5th of April 2023, and coincidentally, that's when the Round Table Zambia #15meets. I was directly driven to the clubhouse from the airport, where I met many other fellow tablers, and we shared drinks, experiences, and stories.
The following day, I had the opportunity to explore the city of Lusaka and learn more about their culture and ways. It was fascinating to see how the Zambian people live their daily lives, their customs, and traditions, and how different they were from what I was used to. It was an eye-opening experience as I got to see first-hand the beauty of the city and the vibrancy of its people.
The AGM took place on Friday, 7th of April 2023, the meeting was concise and an eye opener. All the tables in Zambia from Area 1 and Area 2 were present and well represented by their chairman and vicechairs respectively and to conclude the AGM, the new council was voted in for the year 2023/2024. Afterwards we had dinner and welcoming celebration for them.
On Saturday afternoon, I got to meet many of the Zambia’s 41ers as I joined them right after their half year meeting that took place that morning and amongst them was Mr. Moffat Nyirenda. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Moffat Nyirenda, the former President of Round Table International (RTI) 2013/14. It was inspiring to learn that he was the only ever black President of RTI to date. As a young and black tabler, I found this quite inspirational, his story has shown me that with discipline, consistency, and great heart for people, it is possible to serve in the highest level within our organization and I am now further motivated to continue serving and making a positive impact within my community and all over the world.
In the evening of the Saturday, we had the 2023 AGM Gala Dinner where I had the privilege ofexchanging banners, pins, coins, gifts, and all other pleasantries with fellow tablers from different parts of the world that were present at the event, such as: RT Estonia & RT Malawi. The gala dinner was lovely and well organized, I had a good time.
Overall, my trip to Lusaka, Zambia, was a one-of-a-kind experience. The Zambian people are one of the loveliest people you'd meet, with a unique, vibrant, and beautiful culture. I would advise anyone to take on this opportunity should it ever present itself. I look forward to the possibility of returning to Zambia in the future.
As the only delegate from ARTSA, I felt a tremendous responsibility to represent the organization well. I am confident that I did just that and brought back valuable insights and experiences that I will carry with me throughout my journey as a Round Tabler.

The event this year was held on the 25th of March 2023 and we partnered with Sunridge Village Shopping Centre. The day started early for the
young gentlemen setting up everything to be ready when shoppers arrived. Members and their partners took shifts and handed out flyers to the patrons throughout the day. Round Table PE West 142 members want to thank the kind-hearted public who embraced us with open hearts. The day start very well, and the momentum continued throughout the day with generous donations by the patrons.
The day ended around 15h00 and Round Table PE West 142 were speechless as 3800 easter eggs worth and estimate of R10,000 was raised on the day. We decided on two beneficiaries this year namely Shepherds Table in Timothy Valley and Little Angels Pre-School in Kuyga whom rely on donations severely.
It was a very successful project and larger than previous years. It is great to see that the time spend by the members can make such an impact in the community. We want to thank Sunridge Village for allowing us the to run the project at their premises and then for the public we kindly thank you for your generous donations. Round Table Sani 152 has had a busy and successful year so far, with a variety of events and initiatives aimed at building community and making a positive impact. From fundraising to community service, here are just a few highlights out of the 15 projects Sani 152 has accomplished in 2023 thus far.
One of Sani 152's most successful annual fundraisers, the Splashy fen Ice Sales, saw a record high this year, with over 20 tons of ice sold. The funds raised from this event are used to support local community initiatives and organizations.
Sani 152 also held a fun and unique event to raise awareness for men's mental health: Sun day Stache Day. Participants purchased stick-on moustaches, with over 300 sold. The event was well-received and helped to bring attention to an important issue.
Another successful community event was the Underberg Pumpkin Growing Competition, sponsored by Mayford Seeds, Forge Agri, and the Underberg Farmers Association. The winners, Sophie Turner, Clark Turner, and Logan Van Huyssteen, grew impressive pumpkins, with the largest weighing in at 31.7kg. The pumpkins grown by the kids from Underberg School were donated to local community feeding schemes, demonstrating how community events can have a positive impact beyond just the competition itself.
Sani 152 also invited Pevensey Place residents to tour St. Joseph's Dairy, giving them an interactive and educational afternoon. The residents had the opportunity to learn more about the dairy industry and enjoy a milkshake made with fresh farm milk, thanks to the generosity of the Acutt family.
Sani 152 participated in the recent Bowls Day event and enjoyed being a part of it, demonstrating their commitment to being involved in the community and supporting local initiatives.
Overall, Round Table Sani 152 has had an impressive year so far, with a focus on community building and making a positive impact. Through their fundraising, community events, and volunteer work, Sani 152 is demonstrating the importance of service and giving back. Their commitment to building a stronger and more connected community is an inspiration to us all.

Dear Tablers,
It brings me great pleasure to accept the role of Area Vice Chair for the Namibian Round Table organization. As a proud member of Round Table Namibia for almost 10 years, I am excited to take on this challenge and give back to an organization that has provided me with so many opportunities.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of participating in various events and initiatives and have witnessed firsthand the positive impact that we make in Namibia. As I take on this new role, I am committed to working together with all of you to continue making a difference in the lives of people in our country.
Although I only have three years left in my Round Table journey, I am determined to make every moment count. I want to utilize my experience in Table and work towards achieving our shared goals to make a lasting impact in the world around us.
As the Namibia Area, I believe we have a responsibility to demonstrate our strength and leadership within ARTSA. As the premier AREA and a group of "lekker guys," we must embody the ethos of being incredible in the impact we have on the lives of people in Namibia and beyond.
I am honored to have been offered this opportunity to take up this position, and I am looking forward to serving alongside all of you as we continue to make a positive impact in our community. Let's make these years count!
Best regards,

Melcolm van der SpuyI was recently honoured with the "Dr David Smith 10 year Service Award" from Round Table Southern Africa in recognition of my decade-long commitment to the organization. It all started in 2012, when Jandre Barnard invited me to a meeting at Matlosane 219. Today, I remain an active member of the organization, now at Matlosane 45.
During a recent meeting of Round Table STNOFS Area in Potchefstroom, I was presented with the award in appreciation of my unwavering dedication and contribution to the organization over the past 10 years.
Throughout my tenure, I have been a driving force behind many of Round Table's community initiatives, including fundraising events, volunteer work, and more.
Receiving the Dr David Smith 10-year Service Award is a great honour, and I am deeply committed to Round Table Southern Africa and the work we do. This recognition means a great deal to me, and I am grateful for the support and encouragement of my fellow Round Table members over the years.
As an organization, Round Table Southern Africa is dedicated to making a positive impact on the communities we serve. The Dr David Smith 10-year Service Award is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of members like myself, who have made significant contributions to their communities through their service.
I am proud to be a part of this organization, and I look forward to continuing to serve and make a difference in the years to come. Once again, I express my heartfelt gratitude for this prestigious award and to all those who have supported me along the way.
With their Vice Chairman as DJ for the evening there was no shortage of good music. This kept the feet of many visitors moving throughout the evening. With classics playing such as “baby chocolates” and Eden to keep the sokkie vibe. A lot of langarm, line dancing and just plain moving the body to the rhythm of the music took place.
Thank you Umhlatuze 261 for a fun filled evening.
On the 2nd of April Ballito 221 attended Umhlatuze 261 sokkie evening held at Richards bay Primary school. The evening kicked off with a warm welcome and some festive drinks to announce the arrival of guest.Being a member of the Round Table Matlosane 45 has given me the opportunity to make a difference in my community, and it's something that I'm very proud of. When the floods hit the Vaal River and left many people in Orkney struggling to get by, we knew that we had to act. Seeing the devastation and the impact that it was having on people's lives was heart-wrenching, and we knew that we had to do something to help.
That's why we decided to donate R 3 000 worth of clothes and food to the flood victims in Orkney. It wasn't a huge amount of money, but it was enough to make a difference anWd provide some relief to those who needed it the most. The gratitude and appreciation that we received from the people of Orkney made it all worth it, and it was a humbling experience to see first-hand the impact that we could make when we came together as a community.
Being a part of the Round Table Matlosane 45 has shown me the importance of giving back and helping others, and it's something that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I'm proud to be a member of an organization that is dedicated to making a positive impact in our community, and I look forward to continuing to work with them to make a difference in the lives of others.

On April 22, 2023, Alex Mc Ivor Chairman of Ballito 221, Ryan Meyer Vice Chairman and had the pleasure of embarking on a road trip with our families and loved ones from Ballito 221 to Mtubatuba 100 Social, a beautiful town situated on the KwaZuluNatal North Coast of South Africa. The journey was full of surprises, but the highlight of the trip was undoubtedly the hospitality and warmth we received from the Area Chairman Mr. Dieter Hedder and Kim Hedder, who welcomed us with open arms.
But Mtubatuba itself is also a hidden gem that offers a unique blend of natural beauty, culture, and adventure to its visitors. The town is known for its stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, and a plethora of water activities such as snorkelling, scuba diving, and
fishing. Visitors can also explore the town's rich cultural heritage by visiting historical sites such as the Emakhosini Opathe Heritage Park, which celebrates the history of the Zulu people.
During our stay, we had the pleasure of attending a social Braai with other tablers, where we discussed our year ahead. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow Round Tablers, share ideas, and plan for the future.
As a Round Tabler myself, I am proud to be part of an organization that promotes social, charitable, and community service activities through the Four Fs - Friends, Fun, Fellowship, and Fraternity . Our dinner and Fellowship thereafter was a great example of how the Four Fs can bring people together and create meaningful connections
As we reflect on our journey, we cannot help but feel grateful for the hospitality and warmth we received from Mr. Dieter Hedder, Mrs Kim Hedder, and the people of Mtubatuba. We left feeling enriched and inspired by the beauty of the town and its people.
In conclusion, Mtubatuba is an excellent destination for anyone looking for a unique and authentic travel experience. The town's natural beauty, cultural heritage, and hospitality make it a mustvisit destination for locals and international visitors alike. So, pack your bags and embark on a journey of discovery, adventure, and hospitality in the beautiful town of Mtubatuba
By Ryan MeyerSince joining Roundtable as a guest, turning in to a pipeliner and being inducted as a member it has been evident that this is an organization which works unlike any other I have ever been a part of. I have tried assimilating this with structures and in business and life we have been thought the concept of a pyramid. In order for a pyramid to be able to rise above the ground, it has to have a big support base carrying each and every consecutive level, supporting the growth and allowing the structure as a whole to rise above the ordinary and be noticeable. However, each level you go up the responsibilities get more specialized and the reliance is placed on the level below to execute the vision set by those at the top as they are forward looking and drive the growth of the organization. Hence a chairman and board in this case has to instruct those below as to how they want to run the organization.
However, the more involved I have been in Roundtable the
more I realize this model does not apply to our organization. We refer to Roundtable as a bottoms up organization, whereby the individual members as a collective set the tone and strategy and the execution of this is the responsibilities of the councils and execs that the members elect and put in place. Yes, your chairman will hound you for reports and budgets and photos, but this is not them giving you tasks to do, this is them steering the ship you are powering in the direction you have chosen as a crew.
The only comparison for our organization I could think of was that of a chain hanging from a structure, where every link is supported by the one above it and the load is greatest at the top. The higher you go in the organisational chain, the more responsible you are for the people below you as the load of the organisation is at the bottom and it is supported at the top by our aims and objects. Maybe this is why we wear chains of office, to remind us we are but a link in the system.
With this, the more you get involved, the more you experience and the more rewarding the journey becomes. It is only when you start tabling outside your own table that you realise how big the organization is. So I urge each and every tabler to be part of as much as you can, attend each other’s meetings, projects and socials. Attend councils and areas. Attend ARTSA’s, numbers tours and host tablers from abroad. Travel, if you can as much as you can. You will
be a better tabler for it. And the organization will be better as well.

Proudly Your Area Chairman, Eduard Gous Round Table Namibian Area
It all started at the Namibian Area induction dinners when Leigh had the bright idea to invade the outgoing chairmen’s speeches with a selfie. In 2018, at ARTSA, the tradition took on a new level when the outgoing President, Andrew Lea, was selfie bombed during his speech. This was the start of the now famous #selfieinvasion ARTSA tradition.
The tradition continued in 2019 when Sean Trautmann was selfie bombed, but unfortunately, due to the cancellation of the 2020 ARTSA and the live streaming of the 2021 event, the tradition had to take a brief hiatus. However, the tradition was revived in 2022 when Stefan Grobler welcomed the Namibian chairmen on stage with open arms.
As the #selfieinvasion gained momentum, the incoming President, Louis Radley, asked that the tradition continue at the ARTSA 2023. Werner Swanepoel was the outgoing President to receive the latest selfie in the #selfieinvasion tradition.
The tradition shows no sign of stopping, with the promise to continue as long as the selfie invader is present at ARTSA. So, next time you attend an ARTSA event, make sure to have your best selfie face ready and wait for the #selfieinvasion to strike!
PS. Alan Malan and Christo Bezuidenhout, please attend the next ARTSA. We must make up for 2020 and 2021!

“Adopt, Adapt, Improve”, these words live in the hearts of every tabler, they are spoken in every Table meeting place, they form the basis of understanding the importance and change in ourselves that the Rondle signifies, and in turn, our representation of, and loyalty to the Rondle through our actions and meetings. But we are all human, and as such, change is relevant to each of us.
A few years ago, I was approached by Jannie Katakouzinos, an avid RT195 member with a well-known history in table. Jannie would often invite me to meetings, visit the house to catch up and always pushed that he believed I would be a great addition to the Zwartkops 195 Table. After attending a few meetings on the fly and my first few projects as a guest, then a pipeliner and eventually a member, I believed I knew what table was all about, and what being a Tabler truly meant. I couldn’t have been further from the truth… These guys all knew each other and had a long history together, I did the bare minimum of what was required of me, started attending less meetings, showing up to less projects and only really jumping
meeting I was told over and over again, “Table is about what you put in, that shapes what you get out”. Some weeks later, Zwartkops 195 was conducting a tin food
collection for a local charity, an event I deemed unimportant to me as I wanted to make other plans with other friends on the day. I gave my excuses and left the meeting. That weekend, while having a Braai with friends, we left to the store to collect more meat and drinks. Ahead of me at the entrance to the shopping centre were all the guys from my Table, dressed in their RT Shirts and having a great time together doing their collection, I went into the store, bought some cans and dropped it off, thinking to myself, “That should be enough.”
At our next meeting, I was called out on my excuses, lack of attendance of meetings, lack of project participation, and told if I no longer wanted to be a part of Round Table, I needed to make that decision sooner rather than later. I quickly got my back up against the wall and demanded my “marching papers”, and thought to myself, “How dare they tell me to leave.” The next day, the papers were sent to me via email, for the 1st time in my life, I picked up the phone and put away the false sense of pride I had been displaying for years and asked for a 2nd chance, that day I made the decision to change, instead of argue the moot point that I was a what I believed to be a Tabler.
Starting from the bottom is rough, especially with the way I had Tabled to that point. I made no more excuses, I put my hand up at every opportunity I could, attended my meetings and projects whenever possible with the full understanding of my fellow Tablers who taught me family comes first, and in short, I found out what pride truly is! As I got more involved in Table, my life started to change, my relationship with my partner had changed as she started joining me on projects too, I found myself more dedicated to my work and family, sympathetic where needed, more driven to be the best version of myself. I was becoming a true Zwartkops Tabler. Looking back at the man I was a few years ago, never understanding what Jannie saw in me, or why he was so adamant for me to join Table, I can now, as the RT195 Vice Chairman, state the following to all who take the time to read this.
Round Table develops us all differently, there is an unlimited potential inside of each of us, as people we fall into the traps of hiding behind our comforts, spending time around people we think are great without reason whilst ignoring the calls of those who want to see us succeed, we pass others often thinking we are better or worse than they are and model our lives as such. But there is hope, Table was and is my equalizer, the true test of ones grit, a reason to show pride wherever we go for the accolades we have earned through service to the Rondel and accepting the call to Table like no other, seeing the look on the faces of those we work so hard to uplift and assist when we deliver on our promises to support and improve our communities. Gentlemen and Ladies, if you take nothing else
from my words here today, at the very least, remember this…
Table is a calling, not a duty or job, the call to Table is not one that leads us into service or
requires us to be something we aren’t, It shows us what we can become. It is the Adoption of one’s true nature, the adoption of the idea that we are capable of so much more while shedding our false reality of what we deem pride worthy, We are forever Adapting through institution of real positive changes in our lives and the impact thereof on those around us, it is the Improvement we crave but have feared to strive for. We are the change we want to see in the world and ourselves, It is through the calling to Table and our representation of the Rondel that we will forever continue to “Adopt, Adapt, Improve”.
“Dodgy” Dave (Zwartkops 195 Round Table Vice Chairman)
We It all starts on a Monday evening, about half past 6. It was sunny, snowy, hot and cold with a hint of sand in the air.
You know, the basic weather for Walvis Bay – all four seasons.
I just finished my “jobbingly” duties at work and finished it with a smile… sort of. I finally got time to start with my packing, which I over did. Packing as if it were three women travelling together.
Over excitement and joy filled me as the bus finally showed up and I jumped out of my second story window, which left a happy facial imprint onto the tar pavement. My loving leg threw my luggage out of the window while I ran to catch them like an American football player towards the bus.
As I finally find myself on my feet, after that hard encounter with the bus side that was “rondeled” to the brim. I finally got to use my Tetris skills to pack my luggage into the bus. We were finally off to Swakopmund and with a start of a new adventure to Artsa 2023.
As we finally left the town of Walvis Bay, we were off to Swakopmund and there is where we picked up our loving friend PJ whom will soon be a Walvis Bay member after he signs his transfer form. We, the now almost completed #wolfgang shot our way through to Windhoek.
As we almost left Swakop, Byron and I realized that none of the other tablers had packed any “REFRESHMENTS”. We were disappointed in our fellow members, so disappointed that we have taken them to a service station and forced them to buy some refreshments.
We hit the road with a few knobel hits on the back of the bus seats. It was a long journey of almost 6 hours of going to Windhoek - a journey we wished would not have ended #wolfgang.
We had a pit stop in Usakos, where we had a bathroom break and biltong fest. Joppie made a friend that he would never lose and keep close to his heart – a stone statue known as “Grandma Outsteen”
We finally arrived in Windhoek on our way to the to-be area chairman, Eduard Gous’ house and he willingly but unwillingly housesat for us, before we embarked on our very long journey.
While we were there socializing, Joppie found his own personalized swimming pool that was built for him. It was two feet deep and was less than a meter across but fit him like a glove.
After Mono and myself farted everyone to bed, we finally got a well-deserved nights rest for about 3 to 4 hours so we can get our final member of our #wolfgang to complete our crew for the journey.
We slowly made our way out of the town with our “rondeled” bus and Eduard’s very plain boring bus that we graced with a Walvis Bay 36 sticker so that it can feel like a part of the crew.
At the road block near end of Windhoek, we picked up a very mighty and super social friend Ernst who has a very big big BIG heart. And so the #wolfgang was completed for our trip to finally truly begin our journey.
So our journey commenced to the Botswana border to transit via the bottom road in Botswana towards the Skilpadshek border post. As we adventured our way to Botswana, we crossed the plains of Namibia where we went through cattle country Gobabis where we played a bit of knobel as we travelled through the town and threw a now known as Gobabis Julie of 3-3-1. When I finally put my left foot in and my right foot out for the first time in Botswana and I felt a bit of pride, it was all washed away after I discovered the size of the
spiders and the creepy crawlies in Botswana. What kept me alive was the sight of how flat the country was with no sight of mountains, hills or any obese people to add verticality.
We kept to the very narrow path with faded lines on the road as if the road was wearing sunglasses. At least we kept to the speed limits of the road because the popo know knows. At least that wasn’t difficult with the amount of living steaks in our way. We finally made it to the Skilpadshek border post after a long, amazing journey filled with jokes and joy.
As we made our way to the border, Ernst decided to make a joke and asked “what word does Y-E-S spell?” and confidently I replied with a “yes” to which he responded with a question of what word does E-Y-E-S spell and I replied a yearn “eeyees”. So finally, after that long laugh we got our passports stamped at the border and finally made our way through to the town of Modimolle. As we passed the border our fellow wolf gang members tummies started growling and we wanted to stop at a KFC or service station for a bite to eat but the women felt unhappy with the decision we came upon and decided to drive 220km because they yearned for McDonalds.
Me, myself and I, being afraid for my life, quickly got dressed in my pink pug onesie to protect myself from the rest of the wolf gangs sharp teeth and watering mouths, bellies full of hunger for my delicious booty. After a long 2-hour drive, with one tin of pringles and five bite marks, we finally made it to McDonalds.
“CONTINUE ON NEXT PAGE”
It took us about an hour to figure out the amazing but complicated ordering machines inside McDonalds that bestowed us with magical square light boxes we could touch and decide what we wanted to bite instead of myself.
My favourite moments of ordering takeout on this journey was that Monolito du Toit always ordered first but got his meals last. As our bellies were filled and my bite wounds healed, we finally made it to the gates of our venue Weesgerus holiday Resort at 11h30pm. Not a single person had an SA sim card and all reserve workers were already off. We were all fatigued and filled with jealousy. We struggled for about half an hour at the gates after our friendly neighbourhood Casper opened the gates for us and we got to tackle our beds with joy. The next morning was a Wednesday morning, we decided to take it nice and chill so we can spare our thoughts and creativity and rondels for the start of Artsa 2023. The only adventure we had for this Wednesday, was going to Modi mall to buy ourselves SA sim cards and a lot of braai meat like true Namibians.
We made our way back to our venue as we started to set up for a nice Namibian braai as Eduards bus rolls up to the venue from Pretoria where they went for mall outing and to our surprise they got braai meat as well, we had enough meat to feed almost everyone at Artsa. We had an outstanding braai with everyone playing knobble and having lekker chats for about 4-5 hours with over 40 braai broodtjies and it was “lekker lekker”.
The Thursday morning came and we were all excited for the start of our new Artsa meeting phase and we started that with a bang – a fourth Assco bang. It was a slow and hard journey to get to the bus, let alone getting the bus started. For some of us were babalas and the other were just not morning people. It took us awhile, a spin and a turn of a bus wheel to make it in time to the 4th Assco meeting but we were still late. As we rocked up like the legends we are - 36! I wanted to
start my morning fresh by pasting a few stickers on a few cars. As I finished up my car number 14 for our Artsa trip, we as a Walvis Bay community group took our best military knowledge to heart and tried to stay out of the sight of the Sergeant-in-arms. The meeting went swimmingly with Werner Swanepoel while he was sitting with a fat smile, because this is finally his last Assco meeting. The meeting was slow but educational with a few nice jokes in between. Like the two ouks at the bar were wearing their hats that caught the Sergeant’s attention.
Time flew by with the 4th Assco meeting and we quickly got to the bus and I slapped two more stickers on our fellow tablers metal moving boxes. We got home safely just after stopping at KFC where Mono stood at the back of the line, always waiting. Those desperately clinging to life decided to take a power nap afraid of their babalas in preparation in for what was coming tonight. The rest of us that survived, strong and going, played a bit of knobbel next to Joppie’s swimming pool/firepit. As we just started enjoying the sweet sound of dice falling on the table our watches reminded us that it was time for the Artsa hoer and boer themed party. The conveners of this party took it to their best interest to ensure that there is a dress code for each gender but clearly all men were too in touch with their feminine side that they decided to go as a hoer and not a boer. I decided to wear my comfy pink pug onesie “Puggsie”. Everyone else decided to go wearing their best ladies attire and as I looked at this creativeness of hoere, I decided to add a touch to my look and I got a unibrow just for myself. We stormed for the bus with full excitement for what awaits us at the festival grounds known as the Hardcore Hut. As we made the wheels on the bus go round and round we stopped outside this wonderful party, we paused, we analysed and we engaged with a fun and full packed night of adventure more hoer-ish than boer-ish. Our first stop was a pitstop at the bathroom to empty ourselves for the fellowship waiting for us. We made our way to the bar to get our drinks and just
started mingling and socializing with every table crossing our paths.
We came across this banner twice the size of our bus and we vowed to raid this banner under any means necessary. So the night continues, glasses drinking themselves, wallets running dry for no reason. They called us to the stage for the opening of the Artsa meeting, it started slow but ended up with excitement, joy, hoere and boere. As the intro got extremely amazing, well done Bosveld, we went to continue our socializing and fellowship with our esteemed well hearted tablers on the dance floor, bar counter and everywhere else. As the night grew old, I got onto the phone with my loving leg and in that moment Leigh and Joppie decided to raid the banner set up for the photo ops. It started with Joppie cutting the lower right side rope and Byron giving him a step to get to the top leg, however, Leigh unknowingly pulled the banner to make a quick dash towards the bus but the other two corners were separately connected to the tree branches but with the help from Spidey and Joppie, they managed to set Leigh free into the wild. Running up and down like a stormer trying to get away from a Bluebull. Later into the night the prince of Dubai gave his respect and my bedtime, and we slowly made our way to the bus with our hard earned raided items.
The Friday morning came in with a soft breeze and sore throat, luckily for me and not with a babalas like the rest. We scraped together what little we had of ourselves to get ready for the start of the days forums. As me, myself and I, the responsible treasures that I am, came late for the financial forms but rocked up just in time for the start of the constitutional forms. We moved through the constitutional budget and branding quickly but also slowly with the questions that build up with the constitutional form as the CVC forms came up, we went through the responsibilities of a chairmen and vice chairmen. It motivated me to one day want to become a chairman or a vice chairman. “CONTINUE ON
As I got that motivation in my head, Mr. President got really excited to suck on a cancer stick and wanted to get the forums over and done with. I seconded that motion and left with a skip, a slide, a fart and a glide towards the bus to get ready for our food tables.
As we packed the bus (our loving legs) we fortunately bought enough food just for ourselves and not for the whole of Artsa. We went as a group to set up the food tables where we had pap and sous, Namibian style. Oxtail pot and another pot I wasn’t involved in enough to remember. Unfortunately, I fell victim to an illness unknown to my head, shoulders, knees and toes. So, I did a bit of socializing and corner sitting for the food tables. Time flew past very quickly for this Friday and soon thereafter everybody started enjoying themselves. As the night grew a bit late, by late I mean 10 pm. We started packing our food stall and the bus and I felt a bit under the weather and ran for the back of the bathroom. I brought up my previous meal in a conversation with the back wall of the bathroom. As I was busy with the very interesting story with the wall, another tabler walked past and he walked by with a comment ‘Oh, is this where the professionals hang?’ and he started a conversation with the wall next to me. We made our way back to our esteemed living quarters and called it an early night by about 10:30 (to the disgust and disappointment from Leigh).
Saturday came and it was time to get dressed in my suit and tie. I live for my suit and tie. We made our way to the Rtsa AGM, babalas and all. We came to the entrance of the hall with all our delegates, signing in to the registration except for myself that forgot something like a registration exists. The AGM started with a professional and civic tradition and went smoothly, so smoothly that if you want to know what happens, you should have been there.
As we moved out of the hall after Werner continuously yearned for the sucking of his cancer stick. We went outside and smoked half a
packet of camel at once with the motivation of our esteemed IPP of 2023/2024. We made our way to the venue where we slept to get well afternoon rest because some of our esteemed members wants to go GROOT tonight. Time always flies by when you want to rest, as the sun starts to near the horizon, we jumped into the bus almost like the hoer and boer night and we were off to get our party on. We got there to the party and aggressively jumped through the bus’ windows and got to the bar to start socializing with the bartenders hoping the bartenders were drunk enough to recognize us. We met a lot of our friends from the previous nights but by our surprise there was always someone you haven’t met throughout the Artsa. I took it to myself to move between our Namibian area members just to make sure they are all well and alive, for some of us, not only myself was also starting to get sick. As I moved with and between our members, I met a 41’er that stuck to my heart with his motivation and his sight of round table that broadened my idea and perception of our loving community. I moved to the stage where Leigh, Joppie, Byron, Mark and a few other friends that my memory blurred out for some odd reason, were chilling and enjoying the music. In excitement, Joppie tried and successfully motivated me to go on stage and throw my groovy moves (down on the floor). It was fun and painful because I was sick, however, a Zambian friend truly enjoyed the sight of me being “kak mal.” As I got off the stage, which the ladies circle chased me off with love and respect, we started taking all our Namibian sheep to our busses so we can say goodbye to the final party night of Artsa 2023. With a few of us that had a lot of bar bons left, they decided to grace our Walvis bus with enough drinks and booze for the road back because we couldn’t do it the right way on the road here.
Saturday was called a night.
Sunday came and we slept a bit in but we woke up to go support our esteemed new area chairman Eduard Gous at his first Assco
meeting but we were also excited to see the hand-over from our IPP to our new president. We got to the first Assco too early in the morning around about 9, feeling babalas and a bit sick. As we sat in our peanut gallery chairs our heart-warming sight of Werner came walking in to disturb Louis with his meeting and his sock handover. That went swimmingly and not just because of his sweaty pink socks. We made our way after the hand-over out of the first Assco meeting because they had to start the whole meeting over again after Werner’s quick hello and goodbye.
So we made our way to the Rooibok Hall to get ourselves a bit to eat before we go home to relax for the last remainder of this trip. As we drove home, we drove past a nice restaurant called (correct me if I’m wrong) Dors Land where we felt obliged to get a beer, a pizza and connect to the Wi-Fi so we could play on the TV Baby Shark. We ended off our last time playing a bit of knobel, and I was making a new friend Wolfie the sheep. So the time flew by and we found ourselves starting to pack, me packing my tears because they refused to take Wolfie with us back home. Some of us went to bed to rest before we hit the road, others like myself that packed so, so many things was kept busy with packing for around about 3 hours. As I looked at my watch, it hit 11 pm, I jumped into the shower then jumped out of the shower. Grabbed my bags and ran for the bus because we started packing at 11:30 so we could leave at 12 am.
So Monday started at 12 am midnight, like always. We were on the road yet still waiting for the boring other bus that had few to nothing rondels on it. We exited the gates of our venue where we stayed and I passed out because of all the big energy I used from the big adventure. I came to my senses at around 4 in the morning just before the Botswana border post, Eduard’s bus decided it would be fun and adventurous to drive “wydsbeen” over a dead bird, to our surprise wasn’t dead. W
“CONTINUE ON NEXT PAGE”
The bird decided to look up as the bus approached and gave a loving kiss to the intercooler’s pipe. So our new adventure started with backyards mechanics starring Byron and Andre. With their friendly tools, a coat hanger, a rope and a lot of cable ties and to top it off, a hint of Stick like Shit. Because of the intercooler being damaged, our turbo couldn’t work to its full potential or at all depending on how you looked at it. It increased our adventure with about 4 hours.
That was disappointing and sad for the Windhoekers because they had to put up with our Walvis spirit. The rest of the road flew by like
we wished the bird did earlier and we found ourselves safe back on Namibian soil and we were greeted with a bit of rainfall in Gobabis, which Byron got over excited for and decided to test his drift on the wet tar road. With absolutely no excitement, I strapped myself for dear life. As we dropped off our esteemed friends from Windhoek, we slowly and by slowly I meant picked up the bloody pace to get to Walvis in our homes with our loving legs while we were busy ignoring the fact that our GPS was more excited to get to Gaborone and back than us.
In conclusion my experience of this Artsa 2023 was an eye opener
towards Round Table for this fellowship is strong, the love is uncountable and the “gees” always GROOT. For I cannot see myself with a better bunch of LEKKER people than Round Table in my life. This trip has motivated me to start my own projects and to achieve them by the end of 2023.
Thank you Round table and most importantly, thank you Walvis Bay 36 for being the family that I was looking for my whole life.
By Danie BachmanFirstly, I would like to start by saying what a privilege it is to be part of an organization like Round Table and to be able to attend my first ARTSA. To be honest, the thing that stood out for me was the strict and professional forums and AGM that was held. It is amazing to see such a large group of young men, all with the same goal.
Hardcore Hut: Well, the name says it all: the place where fellowship was at a hardcore level, an area where you meet a fellow tabler for the first time and it feels like you have known him your whole life.
Food Tables: What an amazing experience to see all the different food styles, smells, and tastes! I must commend all because, through this, we met lifetime friends.
To end off, I would like to thank our outgoing Nam Area Chairman Byron Westerdale and incoming Nam Area Chairman Eduard Gous for making this trip possible; if not for them, it would not have been possible to attend this awesome Round Table event.
Negatives In my opinion, I feel that the ladies' tour held at the AGM was not in line with Round Table standards.
By Andre CocklinMy table career started early in 2019 when I joined Windhoek 34 as a guest. I was inducted as a member in October 2019 and ever since then I was thinking to attend an ARTSA, but could not attend due to work responsibilities.
This year I was fortunate enough to get leave and with a last-minute registration, I was on my way to ARTSA 2023.
I joined Walvis Bay 36 on the WESTVAN and the 2,000km journey to Modimolle began. We were a total of 4 ARTSA virgins onboard and the “GEES” was amazing.
We arrived in Windhoek the evening where we met up with the central tablers that was heading in the same direction. After a rather short nap we left Windhoek at 04h00. The road was long and no place to buy food. Luckily for Danie, we eventually arrived at a McDonalds as he was starting to look like a happy meal. My stomach was starting to devour my liver form the hunger :D.
We finally arrived at our destination at 23h30 after a long and tiring day for a bit of rest
before ARTSA began. I joined the 4th ASSCO as peanut gallery was very interesting, to see how meetings was done at exec level. Way more efficient then we do at Area level, we should take this and make our Area meetings and council meetings a lot more efficient and enjoyable.
The opening was lit with GREAT vibes, music, regalia swops and awesome people. This party was definitely the highlight of the weekend. I felt that the next morning with a type of hang over I haven’t had for a long time. #Worth it!!!
With the intense hangover I joined the forums which very insightful especially the decisions that we need to make at the AGM the next morning. The hangover was soon forgotten when I picked up where I left off the previous night, at the food tables event. I still think that our potjie was the most delicious there. For some reason, everyone wanted to go home early that evening, but I think it was well needed to get in some rest from the road and the themed party.
We woke up Saturday well rested
and ready for the AGM and the Gala Dinner the evening. Yet again, the AGM was efficient and done before we know it.
I had mixed feelings when the evening came to an end as I had an absolute blast at ARTSA and I knew that I will be heading home back to my loved ones the next day.
(Un)Fortunately I had a flight back and did not have to drive on the bus all the way back. As the slogan at Windhoek 34 goes: “ALLES!” and that is exactly what I gave at ARTSA 2023.
The fellowship, the laughs, new friends and the knobbel games were out of this world and something that made the journey unforgettable.
I implore every Tabler to try and experience an ARTSA for themselves. It is far better than any words can explain. You learn a lot more about what it is to be a Tabler and get to meet lots of likeminded gentlemen. I would definitely do it again.
By PJ BadenhorstIt has been a while since I joined an ARTSA, Covid 19, broke the ARTSA trains speed.
With Namibia Area doing our best through our Outgoing Area Chair Byron Westerdale and Incoming Area Chairman Eduard Gous efforts to have an inclusive ARTSA trip, I was not about to let that slip through my fingers. A special thanks also to RTSA President and Vice President at the time for making this possible cause without your assistance I would have had to wait and here how great ARTSA was.
Needless to say, we had one hell of a drive, with me and my wife’s brand spanking new passports getting stamps from 3 different countries to get to ARTSA. With the +1600km behind us we made it to our destination safely and had a few hours of sleep before registering the next day.
Always great to meet old friends for the 1st time, as this is how my short table life has always been, and even better seeing some of my old ASSCO Family.
Opening Night was a blast and BOSVELD “JULLE MAG MAR”, with one of, if not the best opening for an ARTSA behind us fellowship was at the order of the day. The theme for the night was well expressed and I must say some of the more daring expressions made one wonder how some could be sooooo comfortable…but all in
good fun some of ya’ll showed of your skills…lol.. The Namibian’s all had a blast but we had to cut the night short as we had a drive back to our lodgings not staying on the ARTSA venue.
Friday forums was great, with strict rules and concise presentations made for a fast but diligent end to forum after forum. Well done to all presenters and Exec for organizing and executing it in the professional manner it was done. Time did catch us a bit as myself and a few others had to rush to the food tables where the 3 table legs were waiting impatiently. With more hands coming arriving we made quick work of the 3 dishes and thanks to our ladies Namibia was well represented. A huge thanks to Joppie who ensured we where all uniformed with our Namibian themed aprons.
This was the 1st ARTSA that myself and Lana where able to actually go around most of the food tables and for that we thank our tablers it was great fun from pausing at my Mauritian brother’s food table, and sharing some memories of my last visit to them to the “Porra” inspired food table to the WP table that gave you a taste of the sea… Well done to all on their tables and Especially Winners of the Food tables Gauteng Area. The night drew to a close with Some Nam Tabler’s calling an early night or should I say morning as AGM was upon us.
AGM started and it went by so quick with everything of importance. MR. PRESIDENT WERNER SWANEPOEL and your Entire EXEC and ASSCO all I can say is Well done on a quick and professional AGM, the fastest I have attended ever. This just shows again there’s nothing you can’t achieve if you put your mind to it and put in the work, with an impressive 12h00 finish to the RTSA 2023 AGM.
We had so much time we went to see the town a bit and messed around with the Music of a local restaurant…
Evening came and the Presidents Ball was one that will be remembered…it was sad to see many of my Peers taking the stage for the last time as tablers, It was an honour to witness this and be their in the last couple of moments you could we could call you a tabler, now your all 41érs I can only hope I will as many people to share with it when it’s my turn. To all the award winners well deserved and to Walvis Bay 36 congrats on wining the Apex Gavel for a 2nd year in a row…
It was an amazing ARTSA, its true that everything in the Bosveld is Bigger…
Till the next one…

Michael de WinnaarOn 30 March 2023, the tablers of Paarl 44 went to donate blood at the Toringchurch hall in Paarl, thereafter we went to hand out warm soup and bread to the homeless people in and around Paarl.
Each and every time we go and hand food out, we realize how fortunate we all are to have warm food and a roof over our heads, as this should never be taken for granted.
This is what table stands for.

Hark, fellow knights of the Round Table! Let me regale you with the tale of our recent adventure at Weesgerus in Modimolle for the annual ARTSA conference. From April 27 to April 30, 2023, Round Table Southern Africa assembled for this grand event, and the weather was on our side the entire weekend!
Upon arriving on Thursday, I received numerous pep talks and motivational speeches that fired me up with enthusiasm, and I got the tent setup. What a sight it was to behold! Round Table Gauteng Area camped at the bottom of the resort, forming a little make-shift village. Middelburg 126 also joined us for this splendid occasion.
That evening, we made our way to the hardcore hut for a wild gathering with other tablers. The “Boer and Hoer” party was in full swing, and we were having a blast. Hanno was doing body shots off a slightly large gentleman at the bar, and his outrageous antics had everyone within a 2 metre radius running for the hills. But no matter, as we continued to revel in the festivities!
Thursday evening was the opening of ARTSA 2023, hosted by Round Table Bushveld Area. Our president Werner Swanepoel took to the stage to welcome us to the greatest event of the year, and we danced and mingled with both new and old friends. As the night drew to a
close, we retired to our campsite, eagerly anticipating the big day to come.
Friday morning came all too soon, but we were ready and raring to go. We headed to the forums for heavy discussions on the age rule, budgets, and new aims and objectives being added. We heard many tablers speak out against the age rule, but no one dared to advocate for it. Nevertheless, the discussions were lively and filled with valuable insights.
After a brief 30-minute break and a quick swim, we headed to the hardcore hut to set up for the Area Food Table Competition. Last year, Round Table Gauteng had performed poorly, so this year we were determined to make a comeback. We were organised and efficient, and all the gents and their partners from RTGA pitched in to do their part. We blew the judges away with our delicate starters, brutal mains, and soft, fluffy dessert.
As the evening wore on, we visited the other food tables, and the competition was fierce. We were left second-guessing our efforts, but we soldiered on. We returned to the hardcore hut for round 4, then hit the sack to prepare for the BIG day.
Saturday morning arrived, and it was time for the AGM. Dressed to the nines, we descended upon the conference hall, ready to vote.
There were no more discussions to be had; it was time to make our voices heard. RTSA voted in spectacular fashion, and minds were blown. It was a close run, but the motion never passed. After casting our votes, we headed to the pools to relax and unwind.
That evening, we gathered one final time for the Presidential Gala dinner. The ladies looked stunning, and the gents didn't look too shabby either. We celebrated our achievements over the past year and bid farewell to the outgoing and incoming chairman and councils. Round Table Gauteng won the food table trophy, breaking a curse that had lasted for over 11 years. The pride had been restored! We thank Round Table Bushveld Area for being such amazing hosts, and we thank Round Table Southern Africa for arranging such a great weekend where we can connect, share ideas and catchup with old & new friends.
If you are a tabler, be proud and walk with your head held high. You are one in 500 out of 59 million people who gets the privilege to wear the Rondel.
Let your pride be infectious!

Hartz 186 is a Table nestled in the middle of the Vaalharts irrigation scheme, one of the greenest parts of the Northern Cape. A community with the small town “do all you can do” mentality and a big Round Table heart at it’s core.
The Skema2Sea 2.0 project started over a year ago when avid cyclists from the community pitched their vision to us and asked us to join hands with them in making the dream a reality. It was an easy YES for Hartz 186 as it was aimed towards helping a young gentleman by the name of Shiloh Grewar from our community who has been fighting a terrible disease (Cystic fibrosis) for as long as he can remember. A warrior of a young man!
Cystic Fibroses awareness was our main goal to reach on our journey to helping this young gentleman. It meant a lot to us as individual tablers to give a young boy hope and enable him to have dreams of a bright future as a young gentleman.
More than a year down the road of where it all began with Skema2Sea 2.0, multiple projects, long hours, late nights, hard work and the fulfilment to see the fruits of our labour (a labour of love for
table) we can say that we made a difference. It took a couple of passionate tablers, our loving community, a bunch of iron willed cyclists and a lot of new friends along the way to get it done. We did it!
9 Cyclists, 9 Days, 1240km, 7 Tables getting involved, millions of memories and the impactful change that has been made in many lives during this journey. What an extraordinary adventure to be part of…
At ARTSA 2023, Hartz 186 received the Round Table Southern Africa Project of the year award for Skema2Sea 2.0, we still can’t stop smiling. We feel honoured to have received the award for project of the year and it inspires us for the future. Thank you to Round Table Southern Africa and all our fellow brothers in Table for the acknowledgement of our passion of Table and for giving us the tools and means to fulfil the task at hand.

Wednesday morning the 10 hour journey to ARTSA2023 in the Bosveld began , what waited at ARTSA 2023 is at a level that nobody can explain, tablers and internationals coming together to experience ARTSA at a next level and boy did the ARTSA committee pull out the big guns.
Wednesday evening 4th Assco and Exec met for a welcome braai and some catching up.
Thursday morning was the 4th and Final Assco with the 2022/2023
wrap up meeting whilst the ladies enjoyed a ladies tour and visit to Abraham Kriel Childrens Home. What a privilege to have graduated and receiving a special gift from the immediate past president Mr.
Werner Swanepoel who concluded the final Assco meeting. Thursday night opening ceremony was one for the records with a dress up theme that has probably scared me for life. Many pins were exchanged and cold beverages consumed.
Friday morning was the hosting of the various forums and good discussion was held on topics including Financial , Budget, Branding and CVC.
Friday afternoon was the area tables food competition with all area’s displaying a special plate of eats and drinks from there respective areas, congratulations to Gauteng on winning this award.
Saturday morning was the AGM Meeting whilst the ladies enjoyed a most entertaining ladies tour show. Saturday evening was the official celebration of the incoming President Mr. Louis Radley and the incoming and outgoing ceremony where the new exec and area chairman were formally announced.
NNCA had the privilege to sign our twinning agreement with Round Table Austria on stage , one of the longest standing twinning agreements in ARTSA with Round
Table International Vice President Mr. Marc Germeshausen. The brotherhood between NNCA and RT Austria remains strong as NNCA will be attending the RT Austria AGM to return the agreement.
I would like to thank the ARTSA committee for hosting the most memorable ARTSA and my final ARTSA as member of this great organization, ARTSA should be high on your bucket list and something you have to experience as a tabler. It was an honor and privilege to serve and the memories will
forever remain. Table hard, make a difference and always make an #impactfulchange
Ronald Fagan Area Chairman NNCA 2022/2023Kitted with the Round table Gauteng area branding, Round table Edenvale 63 in collaboration with Round table Boksburg 17 gathered together at Karaglen Spar in Edenvale on the 1st of April for a drive to collect Easter eggs. These Easter eggs were to be distributed to under privileged kids with the purpose of making Easter special for them.
There were two members from Edenvale 63 Round table and 1 member accompanied by 1 pipeliner from Boksburg 17 Round table present on the day. We were met by the Edenvale Lions club who coincidentally had arranged to do the exact same drive on the same day at the same place so we decided to join forces with the Lions with the agreement that we would share the collections of the day. Building relationships with, and supporting other organizations similar to ours is important as we can then have a greater combined impact in our communities by working together.
During our collections we focused on driving membership and we managed to gain 3 guest on the day. The Easter egg drive was
the perfect ice breaker to create awareness of what Round table is and spark the interest of potential guests.
69 Marshmallow egg boxes were collected to the value of R4761.00 of which 25 boxes were donated to the Lions club. Afterwards a few of us got together for a
bit of fellowship and social at a restaurant nearby.
In the early hours of Easter morning we went to the Abraham Kriel Maria Kloppers orphanage to hide some Easter eggs for this was the Easter egg hunt many of these kids have only dreamed about. Approximately 700 marshmallow eggs were hidden all over the playground.
With great anticipation it was time for the great Easter egg hunt. All at once excitement and laughter broke when approximately 30 kids came out running and started searching all around the playground for Easter egg treasure. Big and small. One of the bigger lads was running around at top speed after the hidden mallows and had a shirt full within the first 2 minutes. I reminded him about the importance of sharing too which he responded cheerfully “Yes, I will share them
in the house… I am and “eggspert” at this”. This cracked me up and planted a lasting smile on my face for the rest of the long weekend.
Our Second stop was at Abraham Kriel Bermuda house in Glen Marais. A house for orphaned girls during the school holidays. There were 7 kids and we donated 10 boxes of Marshmallows. The house mother had a picnic planned the following day where they would
enjoy the Easter eggs.
By Just Spending a few hours in the morning this was a great start to the long weekend that left us with a sense of achievement and that warm fussy feeling you get inside when doing good. Emotions of appreciation for being able to be a part of such an amazing organization where we can make a difference in so many lives in so many ways overwhelmed me once again.
By Cuan Maizey Boksburg 17 ChairmanThank You,Our relationship with you is of great value to us and we cherish it at all times.
I recently attended my first ARTSA event and I must say, I was blown away. The Bosveld boys did an incredible job organizing the event, and the fellowship, music, entertainment, and overall vibe was simply amazing.
One of the best parts of the event was being able to meet local and international tablers. It was so refreshing to connect with new people and share stories over a drink. Swapping pins and coins was also a great way to solidify new friendships.
What impressed me the most was the sense of camaraderie and lack of pretence among the attendees. Everyone was so welcoming and genuine, and it was evident that we were all there to support each other and have a good time.
I left the event feeling energized and inspired. I also made a promise to myself to attend more events like this and to visit other tables around the country. It's important to step out of our comfort zones and connect with other tablers to broaden our sense of fellowship
within the organization.
Overall, my first ARTSA experience was unforgettable, and I can't wait to attend the next one. I encourage all tablers to make an effort to attend events outside of their own table and experience the incredible sense of community that Round Table has to offer.
Congrats to our new Exec, RTSA is definitely in safe hands for 2023/4 with a seriously strong team and Pres at the helm.

As a global organization, Round Table provides opportunities for individuals to connect with likeminded individuals, participate in community service projects, and develop their personal skills and interests.
ARTSA served as a platform to introduce me to new members of this organization and the community it serves. It was an opportunity for me to learn about the values and principles of Round Table and how we can make a meaningful contribution to our community.
One of the most significant impacts of ARTSA is the sense of community and camaraderie that it fosters. By bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences, it certainly helped to build strong
relationships and connections that can last a lifetime. I can certainly describe the bonds that were built at ARTSA as similar to those of brotherhood.
ARTSA laid the foundation for personal development. I arrived as a pipeliner and got inducted as a tabler at the AGM meeting. The induction took place in front of hundreds of young men, and the support I experienced from total strangers was astonishing. Complete strangers motivated me to talk and be opinionated. This certainly encouraged me to develop myself and speak up about things that matter to me and that I believe in.
Another impact of ARTSA is the exposure to new ideas and perspectives. Round Table members come from a
wide range of professions and industries, and ARTSA provided an opportunity for individuals to learn about new fields and explore new interests. This exposure to new ideas and perspectives was instrumental in my personal growth and development.
In conclusion, ARTSA has a certain culture where every individual has a place to fit in. The sense of belonging that was experienced throughout the entire ARTSA was contagious and every person at ARTSA had more or less the same objective: Fellowship. ARTSA is a journey that I wish every individual will have the chance to experience.
By ANDREW MC NEILLWelkom 40 had a five rand project that was held at Sylvania Super Spar in Welkom. We had a lot of support from the community and collected food and non-perishable items to a value of about R6000. We would like to thank the community and Sylvania Super Spar for the support on this project.
On the 4th of May 2023, Round Table Port Alfred 177 hosted the 41ers at our Social Meeting.
The meeting was dedicated to Swarrie, Ian Sawyers that sadly passed away.He was a member of Round Table and one of the Legends that built our clubhouse.
Hearing the stories from the other 41ers is always exciting and sparks lots of “Gees”.I always try and picture myself in their stories. Just to think how exciting it must have been to be on one of their tours in our country or trips around the world.
From ARTSA’s, World Tours and many others. Understanding today when they say, Travel and make lifelong friends. Make memories while having fun and raising funds for our communities.
These Gents haven’t just put our building up, we call our Clubhouse today, but also built our Club and carried Port Alfred’s flag high wherever they went.We can only thank and appreciate all they have done and still do till this day for RT177 and our community.
The LEGENDS and OUR 41ers.
What a privilege to know and be in their company. We Thank You.

The members enjoyed every moment of bringing joy to every child at MTR Smit Children’s Haven with
the help of Acres Spar. Before the members were about to call it a day, the members went to a house on the MTR Smit Children’s Haven complex that had seven old folks aged between Seventy and NinetySeven years of age and 108 wanted to bring smiles back to their faces just as much as we did for the kids, each of them received an easter eggs.

In a heartwarming display of community spirit and generosity, Roundtable 252 organized an extraordinary event called easter egg collection to bring joy and support to the elderly. With the aim of making a positive impact on the lives of those in need, the Roundtable members embarked on a mission to collect and distribute 3,000 Easter eggs to various old age homes and establishments, leaving a trail of smiles in their wake. This remarkable initiative not only brought joy to the elderly residents but also showcased the power of collective action and the profound impact of charitable acts.
The Roundtable members set their sights on two prominent locations in their community, the Fountains Mall and Spar Supermarket, to collect Easter eggs for their charitable cause. With a united front, they gathered a staggering 3,000 Easter eggs, a testament to the collective spirit of their organization and the generous support of their community.
Roundtable 252's efforts reached fruition as they embarked on distributing the Easter eggs to multiple old age homes in the surrounding areas. They prioritized
institutions such as Edenglen, Amalia, Hankey, Humansdorp, Paradise Caravan Park, and several others, ensuring that their charitable acts would have a farreaching impact.
The visits to these homes were marked by warmth, compassion, and genuine care for the elderly residents. Members of Roundtable 252 spent time engaging in conversations, sharing stories, and fostering a sense of camaraderie with the seniors. The Easter eggs served as tangible tokens of affection, bringing a touch of nostalgia and delight to their hearts.
The Impact of 252's deeds, They're initiative proved to be an enormous success, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of the elderly residents and the wider community. The joy and happiness witnessed during the distribution of Easter eggs were immeasurable. For many of the residents, it was a reminder that they are loved and valued by their community, especially during a time when they may feel isolated or forgotten.
The initiative not only uplifted the spirits of the elderly but also served as a shining example of the power of collective action for the greater good. Roundtable 252's
dedication to making a positive impact demonstrated that when a community comes together, they can achieve remarkable results and bring about positive change in the lives of those who need it most.
Roundtable 252's initiative, which involved the collection and distribution of 3,000 Easter eggs to old age homes, has truly exemplified the spirit of charity, unity, and community support. The members of Roundtable 252 have left an enduring mark on the lives of the elderly residents, spreading joy, and reminding them that they are an integral part of their community.
This remarkable initiative serves as an inspiration to us all, highlighting the transformative power of collective action and compassion. Their efforts remind us of the importance of coming together as a community to support those in need, fostering a sense of belonging and creating a more caring and inclusive society.
By David HiggsThe Exec Meeting, AGM and Gala Dinner in Adelaide, which was one for the books, well done guys, you put on one hell of an weekend! I was so proud of Cradock for winning the EP Table with the best growth in 2022/23. We went from 4 to 8 members
I was the only one of our members able to attend ARTSA this year in Bosveld and I want to thank Willie and Mark from Algoa 108 for letting me join you on the 2000km adventure.
This was my 4th ARTSA and it was an amazing experience, from the opening event, the hardcore hut, the forums, the Area food tables, to the Meeting and the Gala Dinner, it was all a blast. Unfortunately I came down with the flu or some variant of it and the trip back on
Sunday was a struggle. Again, thank you Willie for taking us and bringing us home safely. And also, Piensie for a spot to stay in the Chalets.
I had a couple of days to recover but that Thursday Rubin and I jumped in his bakkie and was off to Oudtshoorn to join our 37 Numbers Tour that was already going since Saturday! We took over from Yster and Monde who started the tour in Cape Town, we met them just as they were leaving Oudtshoorn.
I jumped on the bus and Rubin followed, meeting 34 International guests was an experience of a lifetime, from Norway, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland and England. Everyone has unique stories to tell and they gave me a lot of perspective on the world out there!
We had some fun times together but more on that in the next Issue as the tour is still ongoing.
I just want to give a special shout out to the members of Cradock 37 and all our 41rs for everything they did to make this tour possible. And also a big thanks to all the international guests who travelled so far to come have some fellowship with us in Cradock. I hope very much to go to one of the Euro Meetings soon.
We are getting ready for some big projects this year starting with the Winter Knights and a Music Trivia Evening on 24 June.

Stefan Maré, Cradock 37 TreasurerThe last royal show is upon us in 2023, Sadly for South Africa and especially Pietermaritzburg the final Royal Show will be taking place this year for the Royal Agricultural Society (RAS). The RAS grounds has been sold to developers whom are undertaking a revamp of the area and going to be transforming the grounds into a modern mixed-use development and essentially create a modern CBD.
The Pietermaritzburg Agricultural Society was formed in 1851 and hosted its first Show, advertised as ‘The Pietermaritzburg Fair’ next to the Market Square –behind the current City Hall –on 23 December of that year. Although heavy and persistent rain continued throughout, the organising committee remained undaunted.
The Society’s first President was the Hon. Henry Cloete who was the Recorder of the District Court of Natal and with the exception of the war years and the Bambatha Rebellion, the Society has held a Show every year since its formation. This almost certainly entitles it to claim the status of South Africa’s senior agricultural show.
In 1889 the Society was able to obtain its own showyard on a small site to the south of the city. These grounds rapidly became inadequate as support grew and in 1902 moved to the present Showgrounds one and a half kilometres to the north of the City Hall and with a convenient railway siding abutting the premises. Slowly the size of the land acquired or leased from
the supportive Pietermaritzburg City Council increased until the Showgrounds reached its present size of approximately 18 hectares. In the years following the Anglo Boer War the annual Show in Pietermaritzburg became recognised as Natal’s leading agricultural and commercial exposition and it was largely for this reason that with the assent of King Edward VII, the Society was granted ‘Royal’ status in 1904. The necessary notice appeared in the Natal Government Gazette of 29 November of that year and South Africa’s first Royal Show took place in 1905. Although
South Africa became a Republic in the sixties, the Society’s name has remained unchanged and the province’s premier mixed exhibition continues to be referred to as ‘The Royal’ with pride and affection throughout Southern Africa.
Today the Show is held in late May through early June – the duration being 10 days including two full weekends.
Customarily and dependent on weather conditions, the annual attendance figures are of the
order of 220 000. In line with changing circumstances, the emphasis of the Royal Show has moved away from being exclusively bucolic and today activities relating to the land and its myriad of usages are complemented with a substantial commercial and service sector component.
Round Table Berg 167 and PMB12
- In 1977 the Round Table Berg 167 club (Now closed) came together and put funds together to build their clubhouse and the now famous Round Table Steak Inn. Due to memberships and other factors the club was closed and the remaining transferring members decided to move to PMB12 as this was a smaller number and as you know seen as more attractive in the realms of Round Table. For many years PMB12 has kept the Round Table Steak inn going year after year, serving show-goers our famous steak rolls and other assortments to the attendees. This has been a massive project for all members of Round Table for the past 46 years and you can only imagine that #IMPACTFULCHANGE this has provided the communities.
So why this article you may ask?
Round Table PMB12 is offering all members of Round Table Southern Africa the chance to come along and work at this prestigious event for the last time. We will be offering all food, home hosting, and especially beer to all those members that wish to attend. If you spend your valuable time with us, we will also be sending you a sublimated shirt free of charge as thanks for your and your legs efforts in joining us.
If you are keen to be part of the PMB12 gents and their legs from 26 May to 4 June 2023 please be in contact with Cameron Day on 082 530 3366
We recently had a great team building weekend out at Kasouga. A lot of fellowship was had, great fishing and team building activities. A lot was discussed around the table about how we as a club have been operating for the past while and how we can improve on the way we handle certain obstacles
and how we plan events. It was a much needed getaway for us men and a great opportunity for us to fine tune how we Table. It was also a great opportunity for our pipeliners to learn more about what Table is about and how important
fellowship is between Tablers. On the Saturday night we had an awesome potjie and we were joined by 41er Gary du Randt who shared a few stories of his time in Table. On Sunday morning our wives and kids joined us for a scrumptious breakfast before we departed back to Port Alfred. All in all it was a constructive weekend and hopefully there will be a lot of new ideas and renewed energy to bring to the Table!

What a privilege to return from ARTSA 2023 armed with an arsenal of inspiration, ideas, knowledge and scores of new friends. Bosveld Area truly did a remarkable job with hosting ARTSA this year and
that opening was really spectacular. Round Table South Cape Area might be one of the smaller areas, but there's no doubt that we make our presence known - bringing home no less than 3 awards for the
2022/2023 term. Congratulations to our Area PRO Daniel Enslin, and the respective Table PRO’s for claiming the National Inkundla Award. In addition, Neil and one of my home Table members Paul Hoeksema, were each awarded the RTSA Impact Award, congratulations gents.
ARTSA is such an invaluable annual event and I encourage all Members to attend. Where else will you be able to connect with hundreds of your National and International Table Brothers and their families, gain lifelong friendships in one weekend, and engage in meaningful discussions on how to grow and sustain this wonderful organisation?
Taking up the mantle of Area Chairman, I look forward to applying everything I gained the
past weekend to both my home Club #ThirtyTwo and our area Round Table South Cape in the 2023/2024 term.

Kevin McNamara arrived on the Wednesday to attend the 4th ASCO on the Thursday morning where he learnt a lot and prepped for the 1st Asco on the Sunday. The Wednesday night was an awesome night spent walking from chalet to chalet catching up and enjoying a good bit of fellowship.
The next 3 proceeding nights fellowship was enjoyed by all the Drak tablers at the amazing hardcore hut with the awesome entertainment to go along with it.
Im sure with this years attendance and the stories and fellowship experienced Drak area will rally and get even greater numbers to South Cape Artsa.
Thank you Bosveld for the good times and a well run ARSTA.
By Kevin McNamaraThe ARTSA event is one of the highlights of the year for Round Table members in Southern Africa. It's a chance for different areas to come together, network, and have fun. This year's event, hosted by the BOSVELD area, was no exception. The weekend was filled with exciting activities, and the members of STNOFS were determined to make the most of it.
From the moment they arrived, the STNOFS team was in high spirits. They had come prepared with their A game, and they were ready to participate in all the activities that had been planned. They were excited to meet other Round Table members from different areas, and they were keen to make new friends.
The food competition on Friday was one of the highlights of the weekend. Each area had to man a food table with a theme of their choice. The STNOFS team decided to go with a Portugal theme to represent their incoming area chairman Mike Menezes. The team had clearly put a lot of thought and effort into their table. The table was beautifully decorated with Portuguese flags and other paraphernalia, and the food they served was delicious.
The STNOFS team members took turns to man the table, serving the food and chatting with other Round Table members who stopped by. They were friendly and engaging, and they did an excellent job of showcasing the Portuguese culture. The other areas were impressed with their efforts, and the STNOFS team received many compliments throughout the day.
In addition to the food competition, there were many other activities planned for the weekend. There were forums, meetings, a ladies tour, and a gala dinner. The STNOFS team participated in all the activities with enthusiasm and energy. They were always ready to lend a hand and help wherever they were needed.
The weekend was a huge success, and the STNOFS team had played a significant role in making it a memorable event. Their efforts in the food competition were commendable, and their enthusiasm and spirit throughout the weekend were infectious. They had formed new friendships, strengthened existing ones, and had an incredible time.
In conclusion, the ARTSA event is a vital part of the Round Table calendar in Southern Africa. It's an opportunity for members from different areas to come together, network, and have fun. The STNOFS team had clearly demonstrated their passion and commitment to the Round Table movement. They had brought their A game to the event, and they had set the bar high for future events. The ARTSA event was an incredible experience, and the STNOFS team had made it even more memorable.
After a good couple of days rest after ARTSA, I thought it to be a good idea to share my experience over the last couple of days in Modimolle.
This year was my first ARTSA as I am a fairly "new" tabler at Bloemfontein 158. I did not really know what to expect, but my fellow tablers shared their past experiences and this had me very excited.
As we entered the lodge, you could feel the ARTSA atmosphere. The Wednesday was a quiet day. Fellow tablers and I had a braai to get into the spirit. Thursday was the opening of the long awaited "Hardcore hut". The opening show and all the tablers and their loved ones seemed to enjoy the evening, along with me. I met tablers from all over Southern Africa, as well as some of our international friends. I
could truly see the fellowship side of table.
The Friday I sat in all the forums. As a new tabler, I would highly recommend sitting in the forums. This gave me a broad spectrum of what actually happens in table and how it works. Well worth the time spent. The afternoon we had each areas food tables, an experience in itself. The amount of effort everyone made and how proud the tablers and their wives are something to behold.
Saturday, I sat in the AGM meeting, yet again, highly recommended to sit in. A lot was learned during this session, headache, and all - well worth it.
The evening we went to the induction dinner. It was very nice to see how the tablers got honored for their hard work and
efforts. My table won an award, handed over by past president, Werner Swanepoel, for table of the year for "gees". This was unexpected but highly appreciated by everyone. I was also honored and proud to see my fellow tabler at Bloemfontein 158, Louis Radley, being inducted as president of RTSA. We had time after all the formalities to say goodbye to all the tablers from all over and just to have a couple of cokes at the hardcore hut for old times’ sake.
In summary - one of the best experiences I've had in my short time on table and can't wait for ARTSA 2024.
Yours in table
Jeffrey Myburgh Bloemfontein 158
Greetings,
I am Sachin Sooknah, the National Secretary (2022-23) for Round Table Mauritius, and the current Vice-Chairman for Mauritius Round Table 9. It is with great enthusiasm that I share my experience at the ARTSA event held recently in South Africa.
As a first-time participant in an overseas tabling event, I was eager to have a memorable experience, and I must say that ARTSA has exceeded my expectations on all levels. Based on feedback from previous events worldwide, I can confidently assert that ARTSA is one of the best events that a tabler can attend.
I would like to commend our brothers and sisters in South Africa for their remarkable hospitality. During our stay, we have created unforgettable memories, and their generosity has been simply remarkable. I would like to extend special gratitude to Juan & Samantha Botha, Werner Swanepoel, Round Table Sandown 150 & Round Table Gauteng Area, who have been incredible hosts.
The ARTSA event was held in a picturesque location, had a spectacular opening, and was well-planned and executed throughout the entire event. The team behind the event deserves congratulations for putting in a great deal of time, effort, and commitment to make it happen.
We had the opportunity to meet with tablers from across continents and make new friends. It was a collective moment of friendship, bonding, and fellowship.
I am eagerly looking forward to attending the next ARTSA event and highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a travel destination. I urge you to add ARTSA to your bucket list.
I would like to congratulate ARTSA and Round Table South Africa for organizing a fantastic event. LONG LIVE ROUND TABLE!
Sincerely,
Sachin SooknahHark, fellow knights of the Round Table!
As the night drew to a close, we retired to our
campsite, eagerly anticipating the big day to come.
There were no more discussions
to be had; it was time to make our voices heard.
Yours in Table, Wesley de Kock Round Table Gauteng PRO
O what a ARTSA !!! Thank you to the Bosveld guys for all their efforts in arranging one of the best ARTSA’s that I have experienced thus far , special thank you to Wynand Swart and Sarel Ras , the opening night was as if you were at Tomorrowland !! WOW.
I started my ARTSA by standing in for our outgoing area chairman , Timmothy Manners-Woods who could not attend due to the birth of their baby girl , congratulations Tim and Heather ! what an amazing experience it was to attend 4th ASSCO with my fellow incoming chairman .One can truly see the #impactful change that’s being driven from the ASSCO members to the joe tablers ! Congrats to ASSCO 22/23 on a sterling job !
Friday was an early morning after a late night , Forums started … one could still see last night om the face of those that attended and as the morning turned to afternoon so did the members decrease , must have been the lunch that waited on them or a quick nap before the food tables started.
Food tables was once again a hit , all areas setting up camp with fires burning an the smell of all kinds of goodness on the way ! The competition was tough although there can only be one winner …the judges had their work cut out ! WP area made a “Mosselpot” accompanied with a Charcuterie board. We started off with a out of the world wine tasting or the judges ,while they snacked on the Charcuterie board , followed by our main “mosselpot” and finished off with a Malva pudding and sweet sweet Muskadel … For those that can remember , there was a guy walking around with 20l of muscadel in a papsak who gave shots to all attending. If you feel the need for more , please don’t hesitate to contact us Although we tried our utmost best to bribe the judges with bottles of wine and by filling their glasses with Muskadel we still did not win the food tables …. Must be because they forgot about us and only visited our table 4 hours after the cut off time… hopefully next year we will be first on the tasting list… wink wink.
Special thank you to the guys and girls from the Premier area that helped out at the food table and made this one to remember ! Durbanville , Yzerfontein , Robertson , Worcester , Somerset West and Saldhana !
Saturday was AGM time ! Well done to all those involved , was a quick one ! Werries well done on your year and we look forward to what Louis will be bringing to the association with his council ! All the best to Louis Du Toit and well done to Cois on his campaign
Later that night was the banquette , another one for the books and well done to those arranging it all , was fantastic !
Glad to say that we walked away from ARTSA with no Flue or fever just very tired and exited .
Once again thank you to the Bosveld for an amazing event and we cant wait for South Cape ARTSA 2024 !

Walter “huiskat” GroenewaldARTSA!! This is the sound that could be heard being shouted from all over the venue at ARTSA…
While driving to ARTSA on the N1 highway from Pretoria towards Nylstroom which is the town where ARTSA was taking place this year, I immediately noticed something interesting but also amazing, I saw fellow tablers all over the place! While driving I could actually spot fellow tablers in their cars on the road and even if I made pit stops at filling stations, I came across fellow tablers.
It was the weirdest feeling but I absolutely loved it. I could just walk around at filling stations and while doing so, I could hear random people calling me and greeting me. Who was it? It was random fellow tablers from all over, people I have never even met before but yet, it was as if I’ve known these folks for years. Once I arrived at the venue, I went to set up my camp site right away so I could go have some fun as quickly as possible. All the tablers from my table and other nearby tables were
allocated camping spots next mine which was a lot of fun as you can imagine. The whole event appeared to be mostly one giant party. When we were not partying at the camp sites, we were partying at the stage where they had speakers which could be heard from anywhere at the venue.
The whole venue including the stage had a true Bushveld vibe to it. The music at the stage was absolutely blasting and really put people in the right party mood. The stage area was the same general area where the Food Table competition was held…..Aaaah the food table…..what treat this was. It’s been a while since I’ve seen so many people come together like this and work so well together like a well oiled machine. Everyone from Gauteng area was helping at our food table and it looked fantastic. The food smelled amazing and looked the part too. The vibe around the Gauteng Food table was really something of note, everyone was pumped and in a fun jol mood.
I checked out all the other food tables from other provinces too
and many of them had stuff that looked really yum. Everything about the whole event made me HUNGRY! The best part here is the food is all free. Who doesn’t like free food?
Now even though ARTSA was mostly one giant big “kuier”, we did do some serious stuff too, the AGM. I was really impressed by how smooth this massively big meeting went. I was surprisingly short and smooth, yet a lot got done. We had a couple of big points that had to be voted on like the 45yr rule but in the end all this was done and over with pretty quick.
All in all I did not think it was possible to see so many tablers in one location that all get along so well with one another and work together so well towards a common goal. I was very impressed by everything I saw and experience and I’m glad I ended up going to ARTSA. On that note…..ARTSA!!!!!
A week that generated an extreme amount of hype and anticipation in the last few weeks did not disappoint! We were promised an ARTSA of epic proportions and boy did it deliver!
From Thursday’s opening night to the closing gala dinner, the Tablers were treated to fantastic amounts of fellowship and enlightening discussion (because those are the important bits of ARTSA) and then were able to further these discussions into the early hours of the morning around the tables at the Hardcore Hut.
Seeing old friends after so long and meeting new friends for the first time is always a highlight for us and being exposed to the many varied international Tablers from the far corners of the earth was informative and exciting!
Many thanks to Wynand and his team for pulling together a great event filled with little drama and much festivity. Weesgerus provided us with all that we could need at an ARTSA and we loved spending time there!
Congratulations to all the Tablers on a stellar year which saw over R25 million being raised for those less fortunate – it really does make one super proud to belong to the premier young mens organisation in South Africa that just 750 individuals were able to achieve this awesome milestone!
To Werner and his exec – thank you for leading the charge this year and steering our ship towards greater heights than we could have thought possible. You started something special with #impactfulchange back in 2020/21 and to see all the Tablers internalising this over the course of the last three years is a true testament to your passion for Round Table!
Kloof 190 would like to wish Mr Louis Radley and Mr Antoinie Smit all the best as they now forge their own path and leave their mark on our Association. We look forward to the challenges, the successes, and the learning that is to come in 2023/24!
Wat meer sou jy vra wil ‘n man uit so kuiertjie kry?
Lank lewe “fellowship”!
