Well done Gents. The platform is there, now we look to grow from here.

ARTSA 2023 Gauteng for the Win !

Hark, fellow knights of the Round Table! Let me regale you with the tale of our recent adventure at Weesgerus in Modimolle for the annual ARTSA conference. From April 27 to April 30, 2023, Round Table Southern Africa assembled for this grand event, and the weather was on our side the entire weekend!

Upon arriving on Thursday, I received numerous pep talks and motivational speeches that fired me up with enthusiasm, and I got the tent setup. What a sight it was to behold! Round Table Gauteng Area camped at the bottom of the resort, forming a little make-shift village. Middelburg 126 also joined us for this splendid occasion.

That evening, we made our way to the hardcore hut for a wild gathering with other tablers. The “Boer and Hoer” party was in full swing, and we were having a blast. Hanno was doing body shots off a slightly large gentleman at the bar, and his outrageous antics had everyone within a 2 metre radius running for the hills. But no matter, as we continued to revel in the festivities!

Thursday evening was the opening of ARTSA 2023, hosted by Round Table Bushveld Area. Our president Werner Swanepoel took to the stage to welcome us to the greatest event of the year, and we danced and mingled with both new and old friends. As the night drew to a close, we retired to our campsite, eagerly anticipating the big day to come.

Friday morning came all too soon, but we were ready and raring to go. We headed to the forums for heavy discussions on the age rule, budgets, and new aims and objectives being added. We heard many tablers speak out against the age rule, but no one dared to advocate for it. Nevertheless, the discussions were lively and filled with valuable insights.

After a brief 30-minute break and a quick swim, we headed to the hardcore hut to set up for the Area Food Table Competition. Last year, Round Table Gauteng had performed poorly, so this year we were determined to make a comeback. We were organised and efficient, and all the gents and their partners from RTGA pitched in to do their part. We blew the judges away with our delicate starters, brutal mains, and soft, fluffy dessert.

As the evening wore on, we visited the other food tables, and the competition was fierce. We were left second-guessing our efforts, but we soldiered on. We returned to the hardcore hut for round 4, then hit the sack to prepare for the BIG day.

Saturday morning arrived, and it was time for the AGM. Dressed to the nines, we descended upon the conference hall, ready to vote.

There were no more discussions to be had; it was time to make our voices heard. RTSA voted in spectacular fashion, and minds were blown. It was a close run, but the motion never passed. After casting our votes, we headed to the pools to relax and unwind.

That evening, we gathered one final time for the Presidential Gala dinner. The ladies looked stunning, and the gents didn't look too shabby either. We celebrated our achievements over the past year and bid farewell to the outgoing and incoming chairman and councils. Round Table Gauteng won the food table trophy, breaking a curse that had lasted for over 11 years. The pride had been restored! We thank Round Table Bushveld Area for being such amazing hosts, and we thank Round Table Southern Africa for arranging such a great weekend where we can connect, share ideas and catchup with old & new friends.

If you are a tabler, be proud and walk with your head held high. You are one in 500 out of 59 million people who gets the privilege to wear the Rondel.

Let your pride be infectious!

Yours in Table,

Wesley de Kock Round Table Gauteng PRO

Hartz 186 is a Table nestled in the middle of the Vaalharts irrigation scheme, one of the greenest parts of the Northern Cape. A community with the small town “do all you can do” mentality and a big Round Table heart at it’s core.

The Skema2Sea 2.0 project started over a year ago when avid cyclists from the community pitched their vision to us and asked us to join hands with them in making the dream a reality. It was an easy YES for Hartz 186 as it was aimed towards helping a young gentleman by the name of Shiloh Grewar from our community who has been fighting a terrible disease (Cystic fibrosis) for as long as he can remember. A warrior of a young man!

Cystic Fibroses awareness was our main goal to reach on our journey to helping this young gentleman. It meant a lot to us as individual tablers to give a young boy hope and enable him to have dreams of a bright future as a young gentleman.

More than a year down the road of where it all began with Skema2Sea 2.0, multiple projects, long hours, late nights, hard work and the fulfilment to see the fruits of our labour (a labour of love for table) we can say that we made a difference. It took a couple of passionate tablers, our loving community, a bunch of iron willed cyclists and a lot of new friends along the way to get it done. We did it!

9 Cyclists, 9 Days, 1240km, 7 Tables getting involved, millions of memories and the impactful change that has been made in many lives during this journey. What an extraordinary adventure to be part of…

At ARTSA 2023, Hartz 186 received the Round Table Southern Africa Project of the year award for Skema2Sea 2.0, we still can’t stop smiling. We feel honoured to have received the award for project of the year and it inspires us for the future. Thank you to Round Table Southern Africa and all our fellow brothers in Table for the acknowledgement of our passion of Table and for giving us the tools and means to fulfil the task at hand.

Innie bosveld – Final ARTSA as a member

Wednesday morning the 10 hour journey to ARTSA2023 in the Bosveld began , what waited at ARTSA 2023 is at a level that nobody can explain, tablers and internationals coming together to experience ARTSA at a next level and boy did the ARTSA committee pull out the big guns.

Wednesday evening 4th Assco and Exec met for a welcome braai and some catching up.

Thursday morning was the 4th and Final Assco with the 2022/2023 wrap up meeting whilst the ladies enjoyed a ladies tour and visit to Abraham Kriel Childrens Home. What a privilege to have graduated and receiving a special gift from the immediate past president Mr.

Werner Swanepoel who concluded the final Assco meeting. Thursday night opening ceremony was one for the records with a dress up theme that has probably scared me for life. Many pins were exchanged and cold beverages consumed.

Friday morning was the hosting of the various forums and good discussion was held on topics including Financial , Budget, Branding and CVC.

Friday afternoon was the area tables food competition with all area’s displaying a special plate of eats and drinks from there respective areas, congratulations to Gauteng on winning this award.

Saturday morning was the AGM Meeting whilst the ladies enjoyed a most entertaining ladies tour show. Saturday evening was the official celebration of the incoming President Mr. Louis Radley and the incoming and outgoing ceremony where the new exec and area chairman were formally announced.

NNCA had the privilege to sign our twinning agreement with Round Table Austria on stage , one of the longest standing twinning agreements in ARTSA with Round

Table International Vice President Mr. Marc Germeshausen. The brotherhood between NNCA and RT Austria remains strong as NNCA will be attending the RT Austria AGM to return the agreement.

I would like to thank the ARTSA committee for hosting the most memorable ARTSA and my final ARTSA as member of this great organization, ARTSA should be high on your bucket list and something you have to experience as a tabler. It was an honor and privilege to serve and the memories will forever remain. Table hard, make a difference and always make an #impactfulchange

Ronald Fagan Area Chairman NNCA 2022/2023
