I’m Melcolm van der Spuy, and what an incredible privilege it’s been to serve as your STNOFS PRO this term. Reflecting on the goals I set out in the first edition of STNOFSIE, I am filled with pride at how we’ve embraced every opportunity to grow, connect, and make a meaningful impact. This year has been filled with hard work, unforgettable moments, and achievements that we can all celebrate.
When I stepped into this role, I aimed to elevate our presence as an area and strengthen our identity, both within Round Table and on broader platforms. Our distinctive look green blazers, green and gold ties, and area shirts became a symbol of unity and pride. But beyond just looking the part, we proved that our strength lies in action, collaboration, and commitment.
Social media became a powerful tool for us, just as I envisioned. Through carefully crafted posts and regular updates, we amplified the incredible work done by our members, building a community that is not only visible but also celebrated. The response from our audience was nothing short of amazing. Engagement numbers soared, and we saw a genuine connection between our storytelling and the wider Table community.
One of the milestones I’m most proud of was taking STNOFSIE digital. As promised, we embraced innovation to make the magazine accessible to a broader audience while still offering physical copies for those who prefer to keep a tangible piece of our legacy. This balance between tradition and progress has been key to maintaining our relevance and appeal. Our service projects this year reaffirmed what it means to be part of Round Table. From the winter blanket drive to initiatives that empowered young people, we lived out our values in meaningful ways.
These weren’t just checkboxes on a to-do list but purposeful efforts that made a tangible difference in people’s lives. Seeing smiles and hearing words of gratitude reminded us why we do what we do — service with heart.
Beyond service, the bonds formed this year have been equally impactful. We laughed together, strategized, and sometimes faced challenges head-on, but through it all, we stood stronger as a team. I am incredibly grateful for the support and dedication shown by every member of STNOFS, which made these achievements possible.
As I wrap up this term, I can confidently say we’ve hit the goals set out in that first edition and then some. The journey doesn’t end here; it’s just the beginning of greater things for our community. I urge those who are new to Round Table or considering joining to dive in wholeheartedly. The rewards are immense when you give it your all.
Thank you to everyone who played a role in this year’s success. Your stories, contributions, and commitment have fueled our progress. Together, we are writing a legacy of service, camaraderie, and excellence that future generations will undoubtedly look up to.
Here’s to continued growth, impactful service, and lasting friendships. I’m honored to have walked this journey with you, and I look forward to seeing where we’ll go next.
Yours in tabling, STNOFS PRO

As Ipen this message to you, I am filled with a profound sense of gratitude and anticipation. The past year, themed "United in Diversity,"" has been a remarkable journey of collaboration and growth. Our shared commitment to this vision has brought us closer, forging stronger bonds and setting the foundation for a vibrant future.
One of the most important lessons I have learned in my tenure is the necessity of a long-term approach. Real, impactful change cannot be confined to the span of a single year. It requires a multi-year strategy, careful planning, and relentless execution
Our journey is akin to planting a tree: we may not see it fully grown during our time, but we lay the groundwork for future generations to enjoy its shade. As we move forward, we must build on the efforts of our predecessors while paving the way for those who will follow us. This continuity ensures that each year builds upon the last, creating a sustained growth and improvement legacy.
To achieve our long-term goals, alignment among the RTI leadership is crucial. I have had the privilege of working closely with my predecessors and our Vice President, and together, we have crafted a shared vision for our future. This unity is vital, setting the tone for our entire organization. By maintaining open lines of communication and supporting each other's initiatives, we ensure a seamless transition of leadership and a consistent pursuit of our objectives. That's why our 3-year plan is essential. I want to encourage all associations and clubs to create their own three-year vision and work on it as a team. If you need any help with your 3-year plans, reach out, and our team will gladly help you.
Our achievements would not be possible without the dedication and enthusiasm of our members. Keeping the team motivated is a continuous effort. Regular engagement, recognition of achievements, and fostering a sense of belonging are key strategies we employ. We can turn our vision into reality through the collective energy and passion of our members.
As the year of "United in Diversity" slowly fades out, I reflect on our incredible strides. We have embraced our differences, celebrated our unique perspectives, and demonstrated the power of unity. It doesn't matter which cultural background we have, our profession, and the languages we speak - Round Table unites us all. This theme has been more than just a motto; it has been a guiding principle that has enriched our experiences and strengthened our community.
The RTI World Meeting in Maastricht is just around the corner, and I am excited about the opportunities it presents. This gathering will be a celebration of our achievements and a forum for setting new goals. I am pleased to announce that many of the initiatives launched this year will be showcased, including our new app, which we aim to have ready for the World Meeting.
Another significant milestone has been the establishment of our Foundation, which is soon be fully operational. This Foundation will be a critical pillar in supporting our humanitarian efforts and community service projects, providing a structured funding and resource allocation approach.
Efficiency in our administrative processes has been a priority, and I am proud to report that all administrative tasks are on track to be completed by September. Items such as RTI Cares and the movement of OVF from Mauritius to Luxembourg will be completed this year. This will free up more time and resources for our core mission of service and fellowship. As we look to the future, I am confident that we can achieve great things with a long-term approach, aligned leadership, and a motivated team. Let us continue to build on our successes, support each other, and strive towards our shared vision. Thank you for your unwavering commitment and passion. Together, we are stronger.

AS I WIND DOWN IN OFFICE as the chairman of the AMI Region, thoughts come racing of a year laced with growth, camaraderie, and huge accomplishments. This journey has been one to stamp the spirit and dedication of our members across 12 associations. Here's a flashback to the highlights and the legacy we have built together.
My vision was clear when I began my tenure: to sow seeds of growth,
cohesion, and empowerment across our member associations. We aim to extend our reach continuously by increasing the number of tables and members supporting the smaller and newer associations while continuously improving our activities and impact In this, our efforts at boosting public relations and strengthening AMI Tabler relationships were pivotal.
One of the projects that have stood out this year was the "Side by Side" project. It embodied oneness and togetherness, bringing together members from Round Table, Ladies Circle, Tangent, Agora, and 41 Club International for collaborative service projects and a membership drive. It highlighted our collective strength and the deep connections that define our community.
Over the past year, we have seen extraordinary achievements across our region. Here are a few highlights:
Arabian Gulf: Despite regulatory challenges, the association thrived with unique initiatives and strong multicultural representation, becoming a beacon of hospitality.
Botswana: Adopting innovative media strategies and vibrant recruitment campaigns has highly supported this country in increasing visibility and community participation.
Eastern Africa: Diverse and high-impacting projects like the Clothes Basket initiative symbolised their commitment to health and environmental work.
Madagascar: Sharpened its territorial presence through regional recruitment and participating in various forums.
Malawi: Inception of the RT Malawi Magazine, which improved communication and outreach, reflecting their growth and community engagement.
Mauritius: Exemplary commitment represented by brilliant recruitment and networking worldwide, with health and community effectiveness projects.
Seychelles: Success in hosting the Seychelles Regatta and good community relations marked an excellent year.
Southern Africa: Achieving membership growth for the first time in a decade and hosting the RTI World Meeting 2023 were significant milestones.
Zambia: Celebrating 50 years of impactful tabling with strong fellowship and vibrant community spirit.
Zimbabwe: Innovative projects like the Rainbow Children's Village and Jail n Bail highlighted their dynamic community presence.
What matters most is the fellowship that binds us together, for beyond projects and undertakings, our meetings are attended by a brotherhood full of laughter, overflowing stories, and friendship in the making with more friends yet to be met. This is the heart of Round Table; our Journey is not about service but the joy of doing good together.
As we look ahead, our commitment is to growth and unity. Our ambitious expansion plans are to add Togo, Uganda, Congo, and Rwanda and charter new tables within existing associations, Our key strategy is therefore, enlarging and communicating membership for active participation in the wider Tabling world. Our shared service remains the cornerstone of our mission. Communal activities with the Ladies Circle make such a significant impact, such as Blood Month in March. Fellowships create togetherness at their best and form such experiences that help to define our legacy. As I look back through the year, I find myself awash with pride and appreciation for what the greater AMI Region has done, Ours is a journey of growth, innovation, and community service, all tailored to touch lives positively. As we look ahead, 1 am confident we will build on these foundations to make the greater AMI stronger and even more connected. Thank you all for your hard work, dedication, and passion. Together, we have created a legacy of excellence that will inspire future generations of Tablers

Anyone is welcome to attend and provide input. Our ARTSA President will also be present. Addressing Concerns. There has been negative and unfounded commentary circulating in our area regarding ARTSA. This does not help us grow stronger as a unit.

Brotherhood
As we gear up for the STNOFS AGM on March 1st, hosted by the awesome guys at Vereeniging 20, it’s the perfect time to reflect on what has been an absolutely incredible year. This isn’t just about a leadership change it’s about celebrating everything we’ve achieved together and the impact we’ve made as an area.
Being the Chairman of STNOFS has been an adventure challenging at times, sure, but mostly an incredible experience filled with growth, camaraderie, and a whole lot of laughs. Leading such a passionate group of Tablers has been an honor, and if this year has taught me anything, it’s that Round Table is built on trust trust in our members, in each other, and in the bigger vision we all share.
Each of us on the council has had our fair share of ups and downs, but through teamwork and support, we’ve come out stronger. Communication, setting clear goals, and executing them together has been the key to making this year a success. Leadership isn’t about doing it alone it’s about creating a space where others can thrive, and I think we’ve done exactly that.
At the start of the term, we set some big goals for our area, and looking back, I’m proud to say we’ve smashed a lot of them!
• Branding & Public Awareness – Our STNOFSie magazine? Absolutely top-notch! The work put into it has been fantastic, truly showcasing what our area is all about. Our social media presence? Bigger and better than ever, thanks to active engagement from our members. Winter Knights, fundraising, and community projects have all been front and center, showing just how committed we are to making a difference.
• Fellowship & Growth – The bond between our tables is stronger than ever! We’ve welcomed new members, rekindled the spirit of brotherhood, and created a space where Tablers want to be part of something greater.
• Community Impact – If there’s one thing our area knows how to do, it’s leave a mark! From small projects to large-scale fundraisers, we have truly embodied the Round Table motto: Adopt, Adapt, Improve.
Sure, there were a few curveballs along the way some plans didn’t work out as expected, and we had to pivot a few times. But that’s the beauty of Round Table: we adapt, we push through, and we keep our eyes on the bigger picture.
Let’s Close This Term with a Bang!
The STNOFS AGM isn’t just about looking back it’s about gearing up for the next chapter. It’s a celebration of the hard work, the late nights, the countless laughs, and the friendships we’ve built along the way.
To my council you guys have been legends. Your dedication, enthusiasm, and commitment to your portfolios made this year what it was. To every Tabler in our area thank you for showing up, putting in the work, and proving that STNOFS is Driven by Purpose.
And to the incoming leadership here’s your chance to take the momentum and build on it. Keep the energy up, keep the passion alive, and keep creating #ImpactfulChange.
Let’s finish strong and keep pushing STNOFS forward!
Yours in Table, Riaan Greyling
STNOFS Area Chairman 2024/2025 #BeATabler
A - In my second year in Table I was PRO for 2 years...young and probably more excited about the comradery than concentrating on what was important, ive come to turns with the importance of being a council member more now than ever before, being a leader towards your peers is not just being bossy but listening to what is said especially when it's got to do with membership and what issues surround it, the other council members have made it easy to understand that working together and the correct communication is key. I hope that from here on that the younger Tablers grasp portfolios soon.
Did you meet your yearly expectations for your portfolio.
A - Difficult to say when membership is always a bumping ride, I said it before that new membership should never be your main agenda but the retention of your current members will automatically bring new members, its a fact, but Im sure that my expectations I set have been successful in my mind and that from here on membership shall sustain its current level and a rise in membership is inevitable.
Henro Louw Area Secretary
As I reflect on my journey over the past year as a secretary on the council, it’s clear that I’ve experienced significant personal and professional growth. From upskilling my management skills to embracing responsibility in ways I hadn’t expected, my time in this role has taught me valuable lessons that will stay with me for years to come. Over the course of the year,
I’ve had the opportunity to develop and refine my management skills. I’ve learned how to effectively priorities tasks, allocate time wisely, and stay organized while juggling multiple responsibilities. As secretary, I had to stay on top of all council documents, meeting minutes, and agendas while ensuring that all relevant materials were easily accessible to the council members. It was a task that required attention to detail, proactive planning, and a steady sense of responsibility.
One of my proudest accomplishments this year was meeting and exceeding my expectations for my portfolio. I knew early on that creating an organized, efficient, and sustainable system would be key to not only my success but the success of future councils. As a result, I implemented a new system that streamlined the management of our council’s documents. This system includes templates, clear expectations, and all the necessary documents from previous conferences and council meetings such as agendas, minutes, and notices of meetings.
By centralizing these materials, I created a comprehensive and easily accessible platform where all council members can access the relevant documents for their respective portfolios. Looking back, I am proud of how far I’ve come as a council member. I’ve grown in ways I didn’t expect, and I’m excited to see how my contributions will continue to have an impact in the future. And while my role as secretary may be coming to an end, the lessons I’ve learned and the systems I’ve established will continue to guide the council for years to come. “Please let me know if you didn’t receive the previous minutes.”

There’s something special about a Round Table council meeting it’s a mix of business, brotherhood, and the occasional beer (or two). And the 3rd STNOFS Council Meeting, hosted by Sasolburg 41, was no exception. If you weren’t there, you missed out on a memorable gathering that once again proved why STNOFS is the best area in Round Table Southern Africa.
Sasolburg 41: A Host with the Most Sasolburg 41 put their best foot forward, welcoming us with open arms and ensuring that everything ran smoothly. The meeting venue was wellprepared, the atmosphere was electric, and the hospitality? Top-notch. A big shoutout to the guys who made it happen you set the bar high! Business First… But Make It Fun
As always, we kicked things off with the formalities updates, reports, and discussions about where we’re headed as an area. The energy in the room was fantastic, with every table engaged and eager to contribute. The growth of STNOFS continues to impress, with new initiatives, fresh ideas, and, most importantly, new members joining our ranks.
Speaking of new members, we welcomed some fresh faces into the STNOFS brotherhood. It’s always great to see the passion for Round Table spreading, and we’re excited to see what they bring to the table (pun absolutely intended).
The meeting also gave us a chance to reflect on our recent projects and successes. From community initiatives to the upcoming ARTSA 2025 – Wild West STNOFS, the future is looking bright! The hype around ARTSA is building, and with our team pulling out all the stops, it’s shaping up to be an event for the books.
Of course, no council meeting is complete without a bit of fun. After all, what’s the point of all this hard work if we don’t enjoy ourselves? The fellowship that followed was nothing short of legendary. Great conversations, plenty of laughs, and a few toasts to the continued success of STNOFS made for the perfect ending to an already incredible day.
A huge thank you to Sasolburg 41 for hosting us you guys went above and beyond! The 3rd STNOFS Council Meeting was a resounding success, and it’s clear that our area is only getting stronger.
As we look ahead to the next gathering, one thing is certain: STNOFS is thriving, growing, and making a real impact. Here’s to many more meetings filled with camaraderie, progress, and a healthy dose of fun! See you at the next one, gentlemen!
Every now and then, we trade in our formal green blazers, ties, and polished shoes for something a little more comfortable shorts, slops, and a cold one in hand. This past weekend, the STNOFS family did just that as we headed to the legendary Wawiel Park for a family weekend that can only be described as equal parts chaos and camaraderie.
From the moment the first bakkie rolled in, trailers loaded to the brim with braai grids, cooler boxes, and enough meat to feed a small army, we knew we were in for a good time. There’s something about being away from the usual formalities that brings out the true spirit of Round Table brotherhood, laughter, and a few well-placed pranks.
Braais, Boeps, and Beverages
No STNOFS event is complete without a fire roaring, and Wawiel Park was no exception. As the sun dipped over the horizon, the tongs came out, and the air filled with the unmistakable scent of sizzling steaks and boerewors. If there were an Olympic sport for "who can flip a chop with the most authority," our lads would be gold medalists.
Of course, where there’s fire, there’s banter. The storytelling escalated quickly, with each tale becoming more exaggerated than the last whether it was an "almost" rugby career, a fishing trip where the fish was "this big," or the classic "remember that one ARTSA?" stories.
While the grown-ups mastered the fine art of relaxing, the kids ran wild making new friends, conquering the playground, and proving that the next generation of Tablers are already skilled negotiators when it comes to who gets the last marshmallow. Naturally, the weekend wouldn't be complete without a few "friendly" competitions. Tug-of-war turned into a battle of wills, the egg-and-spoon race was taken way too seriously, and there was even an impromptu swimming challenge that may or may not have involved some strategically placed splashes. Let’s just say some of us left with more water in our lungs than intended.
As the evening settled in, we gathered around the fire, reflecting on how weekends like these remind us why we do what we do. Beyond the meetings, the fundraisers, and the responsibilities, Round Table is about family not just the one we were born into, but the one we choose.
The night carried on with laughter echoing across the park, an impromptu sing-along (which may have traumatized a few wildlife residents), and an unspoken agreement that this needs to become an annual tradition.
As Sunday morning rolled in, and the slow process of packing up began, there was one certainty we may have left Wawiel Park physically, but our memories (and a few sunburns) will stick with us for a long time to come.
To everyone who made it happen, from the firemasters to the kiddie entertainers, the drinks coordinators to the unofficial lifeguards thank you! STNOFS, you’ve once again proven that no matter where we go, we bring the Wild West spirit with us. Until next time, keep the fire burning and the stories flowing!

The STNOFS Lawn Bowls Day marked a fun and exciting new chapter for the Green Army! For the first time, STNOFS decided to try their hand at a Lawn Bowls Day, and boy, did it turn out to be a smashing success. The sun was out in full force, making it a hot but perfect day for bowls. Area members from all over STNOFS showed up in numbers, eager to enjoy a day of friendly competition, laughter, and camaraderie. The day was filled with fun in the sun, with teams going head-to-head on the green, showing off their skills (or at least trying to!). Despite the heat, the mood was light and playful, with members soaking up the good vibes and friendly banter between games. The beauty of Round Table events is always in the mix of competition and camaraderie, and this day was no exception. The atmosphere was infectious, with everyone sharing in the joy of a new experience together.
A huge shout-out goes to Matlosane 45, who clinched victory and earned the bragging rights as the champions of STNOFS’s very first Lawn Bowls Day! Their precision and focus on the green paid off, leaving the other teams chasing their well-placed shots. Matlosane 45 now holds the title to beat so we expect some stiff competition next year! A massive thank you goes to Hannes and the entire Potch 47 team for hosting the day and making it such a memorable event. The booz was flowing, and let’s not forget about those legendary chicken quarters arguably the best in Potch! Hannes and his team truly outdid themselves, ensuring everyone was well-fed, well-hydrated, and having a blast. Events like these wouldn’t be the same without the hard work and hospitality of our hosting teams, and Potch 47 delivered on all fronts.
We also need to extend a special thank you to the brains behind the operation, Dale Kirk, known fondly as "Action Man," and Riaan Greyling, our Area Chairman. These two worked tirelessly to plan and organize the day, making sure everything went off without a hitch. From arranging the venue to coordinating the teams, their efforts ensured that STNOFS's first Lawn Bowls Day was one to remember..
Dale and Riaan, your dedication to the area doesn’t go unnoticed, and we’re all grateful for the time and energy you put into making this event a reality. In the end, the Lawn Bowls Day wasn’t just about who won (although, congrats again to Matlosane 45!) it was about bringing the area together, trying something new, and having a fantastic time in the process. The STNOFS Lawn Bowls Day is sure to become a regular fixture on our calendar, and we’re already looking forward to next year’s edition. Here’s to more sunshine, more laughs, and maybe a little less heat next time!
Until then, STNOFS will continue to lead with both heart and humor, showing that no matter what the activity whether it’s lawn bowls, community service, or just gathering for a good time we’re stronger together

As I reflect on my journey as chairman over the past year, it is impossible to ignore the tremendous growth I’ve experienced in terms of leadership, communication, and teamwork. This year has not only been about meeting the expectations set out at the beginning of the term but also about surpassing those goals in ways that have both challenged and inspired me as a chairman. Taking on the role of chairman came with a responsibility to guide our council with vision, clarity, and most importantly, fairness. The lessons I’ve learned along the way include leadership, effective communication, and ensuring that no one feels left behind.
One of the skills that I’ve developed is the ability to make decisions that reflect the collective interests of our table. In each meeting, I’ve aimed to create an environment where everyone feels heard and valued, and where decisions are made based on the greater good of the organisation. One of the most important skills I’ve strengthened this year is effective communication. As chairman, clear and transparent communication has been key to keeping everyone on the same page and ensuring that our goals and expectations were consistently aligned.
When we set out our goal for the year, we aimed to raise R 1 000 000 for our initiatives. I am proud to say that not only did we meet this target, but we surpassed it in a remarkable way. To date, we have raised R1 280 000 which is an achievement that speaks volumes about the dedication, hard work of our table. In addition to our financial achievements, we also held 17 impactful projects throughout the year, each contributing to our goal of making a positive difference in the community. I reflect with pride on the accomplishments we’ve made as a table and the personal growth I’ve experienced as a chairman.
We have exceeded our financial targets, successfully carried out numerous projects, and built an effective table that works well together. “Until next time, meeting closure, quarter too.”

October is a month that holds special significance for many, but for us at Round Table Matlosane 45, it’s an opportunity to make a real impact in the fight against breast cancer. This year’s PinkTober was one to remember as we partnered with OFM to host the incredible "Bowling for Boobies" event, combining fun, laughter, and community spirit, all while raising money for the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA). It was a day where we didn’t just bowl we raised awareness, inspired hope, and came together to support an important cause that affects millions of lives.
The event kicked off with an exciting start as Jan Albert from Matlosane 45 hit the airwaves on OFM, joining Nico from the station to talk about the critical importance of breast cancer awareness. The two discussed not only the health risks associated with breast cancer but also the incredible work being done by CANSA and how Round Table Matlosane 45 has committed to making a difference in the lives of those affected. The radio segment was a brilliant way to set the tone for the day, reminding everyone listening that while PinkTober is a month for highlighting the cause, the fight against breast cancer is ongoing and requires constant support.
With the awareness message broadcast far and wide, the real action began at the bowling alley. Twelve teams of four took to the lanes, armed with enthusiasm and ready to make every strike count. The atmosphere was electric. The sound of pins crashing, music blasting, and laughter echoed throughout the venue. It was one of those days where you could feel the energy and excitement building with each roll of the ball. In the spirit of PinkTober, we handed out pink ponchos to all the players, adding a touch of colour and fun to the proceedings. The bright pink attire wasn’t just for show; it became a symbol of solidarity and support for the cause. Plus, it seemed to help some players with their aim or at least that’s what we told them! The ponchos were a hit, keeping the festive mood alive and reminding everyone of the cause behind the fun.
As the games progressed, so did the competition. Teams battled it out, but the real winners were the lives we aimed to touch through our fundraising efforts. While the bowling was the focal point, the event’s true goal was to raise as much money as possible for CANSA, and we had a plan in place to make that happen. After the final pins were knocked down, we transitioned to an exciting auction an auction that would prove to be nothing short of legendary. The auction turned out to be a huge success, with participants opening their hearts (and wallets) to support the cause. One of the standout moments was when we auctioned off what must have been the world’s most expensive pink bra it sold for an astounding R53,000! The bidding war for this iconic item was intense, and the winning bid was met with cheers and applause from the entire crowd. This single auction item was more than just a quirky piece of memorabilia; it symbolized the generosity and commitment of everyone involved in the event.
But the auction didn’t stop there. We had a range of items up for grabs, and the support was overwhelming. From unique memorabilia to fun experiences, the bidders were enthusiastic, knowing that every rand spent would go directly to supporting breast cancer awareness, treatment, and early detection through CANSA’s initiatives. It was heartwarming to witness the level of participation, as people from all walks of life came together for this important cause. By the end of the event, we had surpassed all expectations, raising a remarkable R160,000 for CANSA. It was a moment of collective achievement, a testament to what can happen when a community rallies behind a cause that truly matters. The funds raised will go a long way in helping CANSA continue its work in providing support for breast cancer patients, promoting education on early detection, and funding vital research that could save lives.
The "Bowling for Boobies" event wasn’t just about having fun on the lanes or raising money it was about raising awareness, educating people, and coming together to make a real difference. Breast cancer affects millions of people around the world, and events like this remind us all of the importance of early detection, support for patients, and funding for ongoing research. It was a day filled with joy, but underlining all the laughter was a deep sense of purpose, knowing that the funds and awareness raised could impact lives in a very real way.
We at Round Table Matlosane 45 are immensely proud of what we accomplished alongside OFM. The partnership between our organizations helped make this event an unforgettable success, and it couldn’t have happened without the incredible support of the teams, bidders, donors, and everyone who showed up to bowl for a cause. Every person who attended contributed to the day’s success, and for that, we are deeply grateful.
As we wrapped up the event, there was a sense of pride and unity among all of us. The bowling, the auction, the camaraderie it all came together to create something truly special. And while we’re thrilled with the money we raised, we’re even more grateful for the awareness we spread and the impact we’ll have on those facing breast cancer. Here’s to continuing the fight, to more events like "Bowling for Boobies," and to standing together as a community to make a difference in the lives of those affected by breast cancer. We’re already looking forward to next year’s PinkTober and the chance to go even bigger, raise even more, and have an even greater impact. Thank you to everyone who made this day possible. Together, we are stronger, and together, we will continue to fight for the cause!

Ah, the allure of the open road, good company, and a cooler full of padkos! It was one of those trips that start with a plan but evolve into something far better. Matlosane 45 saddled up at 3 PM, two cars packed with eager members, ready for a mini Hardway down to Tri-Area in Hartswater. The mission: make memories, share a few drinks, and enjoy some legendary Round Table camaraderie.
First pit stop: Ultra Liquors. A crucial detour because no adventure is complete without a well-stocked cooler. As we filled up on essentials, the anticipation of the trip set in laughter, banter, and the shared excitement of the night ahead.
Our next checkpoint was the Diggers Inn in Wolmaransstad, where we stopped for "refreshments" and waited to meet up with the Carletonville 50 boys. After the third round, we saw them coming in, and that’s when the fun really started. Nothing beats that moment when two groups of Tablers unite—the jokes are sharper, the drinks stronger, and the night more promising. With spirits high, we hit the road again, next destination: Bloemhof. The Why Not Pub was calling our name. It didn’t take long to learn why it’s called "Why Not" by the time every second guy had offered us a drink and begged us to stay longer, we knew we were in the right place. Our original plan was to be there by 6 PM; we rolled in fashionably late at 7 PM. But who’s counting when you’re having this much fun?
By the time we hit Christiana, the night had taken on a life of its own. Someone had the bright idea to stop at the Hotel Pub, and that’s where things escalated. A "quick" visit turned into a full-blown party. The locals were curious about our matching shirts and what we were up to, so naturally, it was time to spread the word about Round Table. We spent nearly two hours chatting, educating, and, of course, drinking with the locals, turning a simple stop into a highlight of the night. What was supposed to be a three-hour journey stretched into six, two empty coolers, and a single bag of chips later, but we finally made it to Tri-Area in Hartswater. And the night? Well, it only got better from there.
This trip wasn’t just about the destination it was about the unexpected detours, the laughs, and the brotherhood that comes with being part of Round Table. Here’s to many more unplanned adventures and unforgettable Hardway trips!

There’s a certain magic to a Round Table business meeting, but this one was unlike any we’ve had in recent memory. It wasn’t just another meeting it was a milestone, a celebration of how far Matlosane 45 has come, and a reminder of where it all began. For the first time in what felt like ages, every single one of the 13 seats around the table was filled. Not one chair sat empty
It was the perfect representation of our growth, strength, and unwavering commitment to Round Table’s ideals of fellowship, community service, and personal growth.
The moment that truly made the night, though, was the return of Hoppies. For those who don’t know, Hoppies was part of the original eight members who founded Matlosane 45. His presence at the meeting was a wave of nostalgia for many of us who remember the early days, and for the newer members, it was a chance to meet a cornerstone of our Table’s history. Having him back, seated with us, made the table feel complete again like a puzzle piece that had been missing for too long was finally back in place. There was something indescribable about the moment he sat down. The room shifted. Conversations that had once been focused on everyday logistics turned to old stories, laughs, and the many memories that came flooding back. Hoppies shared tales from the early days of Matlosane 45 of the struggles, the wins, the wild nights, and the hard work that went into building our Table into what it is today. His return reminded us all of the values we started with and how important it is to keep them alive as we move forward.
It wasn’t just Hoppies’ presence that made the night unforgettable, though. We were also joined by the members of Potchefstroom 47, who played a big role in making this meeting one for the books. The combination of old friends and newer members sitting shoulder to shoulder at a full table was an image none of us will soon forget. It was a true testament to the growth and fellowship that defines Round Table. Seeing tables come together like that, sharing ideas and experiences, and contributing to the vision we all hold dear, is the essence of why we do what we do. The meeting itself was, of course, productive. We discussed plans, future projects, and ideas for community service. But more than the business at hand, what really stood out was the energy in the room
There was laughter, camaraderie, and a sense of unity that only happens when a table is truly full—not just in numbers, but in spirit. Every person at that table was a testament to the hard work, dedication, and brotherhood that has brought Matlosane 45 to where it is today.
As we sat there, looking around the table at faces both familiar and new, there was a deep sense of pride in how far we’ve come. Matlosane 45 has grown, not just in size but in the strength of our bonds and the impact we’re making in our community. It was impossible not to reflect on the journey that has brought us here, from those early days with just eight members to now, with 13 seats filled and a growing future ahead of us.
Hoppies, you’ve been missed. Your stories, your spirit, and your presence have been a vital part of who we are as a Table. Having you back at the table with us felt like a reunion, not just of people, but of the values we hold close to our hearts. We hope this isn’t the last time we see you, because you’ll always have a seat at this table whether there are eight members or thirteen, there will always be a spot for you. Looking ahead, the future of Matlosane 45 looks brighter than ever. We’ve come a long way, but we know there’s still so much more to accomplish. This meeting wasn’t just a reminder of our past, but a clear sign that we’re on the right track. We’re growing, we’re thriving, and we’re moving forward with more strength and determination than ever before.
Here’s to more full tables, more nights of nostalgia, more shared laughs, and more milestones for Matlosane 45. And to Hoppies thank you for being a part of this journey, and we can’t wait to see you again soon, my friend. Because at Matlosane 45, once you’re part of the Table, you’re always part of the Table.

For the second year running, the Kos Kas initiative has proven that a simple idea, fueled by passion and community spirit, can make an enormous difference. What started as a humble project to help those in need has now grown into something truly impactful this year, we managed to feed 246 people and provide up to R65,500 worth of food to individuals and families who would have otherwise gone hungry.
They say the way to someone's heart is through their stomach, and that couldn't be more true when it comes to Kos Kas. The idea was never just about handing out food it was about restoring dignity, providing hope, and showing that in a world that often feels divided, kindness can still bring people together.
This year, the need was greater than ever. Economic challenges, job losses, and the rising cost of living have made it even harder for many to put food on the table. But thanks to the generosity of donors, volunteers, and the unwavering support of the community, we were able to step up and make a real difference.
Kos Kas isn’t about fancy meals or extravagant feasts it’s about hearty, nutritious food that fills the belly and warms the soul. Whether it was a hot plate of food served with a smile or essential grocery packs for families to take home, every meal was prepared with love and the belief that no one should have to go to bed hungry. The logistics weren’t always easy. Sourcing food, coordinating deliveries, and ensuring that every donation reached the right hands required teamwork, perseverance, and a whole lot of energy. But seeing the gratitude in the eyes of those we helped made every challenge worth it.
Kos Kas is about more than just numbers, though the numbers are impressive 246 people fed, R65,500 worth of food distributed. It’s about the stories behind those numbers. The single mother who didn’t have to choose between paying rent and buying groceries. The elderly couple who received a warm meal when they had nothing left in their pantry. The children who went to bed with full stomachs instead of hunger pains.
It’s also about the people who made it happen the volunteers who gave their time, the donors who dug deep, and the community that rallied together to ensure that no one was left behind.
With two successful years behind us, the vision for Kos Kas is only growing bigger. The dream is to expand, to reach more people, and to ensure that as long as there is hunger in our communities, there is also hope.
To everyone who contributed in any way whether through donations, time, or simply spreading the word thank you. Kos Kas is proof that when we come together, we can achieve incredible things.
Here’s to an even bigger and better Kos Kas 2025. Until then, let’s keep feeding hope, one meal at a time!
If there’s one thing that brings the men of Matlosane 45 together besides a good cause and an even better braai it’s a bit of friendly competition. This time, we traded our usual round table discussions for something a little more high-energy: Paddle Ball Night! The event saw all our Tablers, along with their wives and girlfriends, take to the court in what can only be described as a mix between world-class athleticism and hilarious misjudgments of hand-eye coordination. From the first serve to the final point, the air was filled with laughter, banter, and the occasional over-exaggerated dive.
While many stepped onto the court with youthful enthusiasm and a misplaced sense of confidence, the night ultimately belonged to experience over energy. The two old ballies, Baardman and Spekkie, proved that wisdom (and probably a few decades of muscle memory) beats raw power and speed. They dominated the competition, showing the young guns how it’s really done with well-placed shots, strategic positioning, and a level of endurance that left everyone wondering what exactly they’ve been training for.
As the games went on, rivalries were formed, alliances were tested, and a few paddle ball rookies quickly realized that this game was no joke. Meanwhile, the spectators those wise enough to hold a drink instead of a racket provided running commentary that made every match even more entertaining.
Beyond the scores and the victories, Paddle Ball Night was another reminder of what makes Matlosane 45 special. It’s about the camaraderie, the shared moments, and the ability to turn any event into an unforgettable experience. Whether it was the competitive spirit on the court or the post-match debates over who really should have won, one thing was clear this is a tradition that needs to continue.
So, to Baardman and Spekkie, enjoy your reign as Paddle Ball champions—for now. Because if there’s one thing we know for sure, it’s that next time, everyone’s coming back stronger, faster, and even more determined to take the title. Until then, keep your paddles ready and your spirits high Matlosane 45 never backs down from a challenge!

As another year of hard work, service, and camaraderie drew to a close, the men of Matlosane 45 knew exactly how to wrap things up in true style by heading to Jan Alberts River House and Venue for an unforgettable year-end function and meeting. And what a weekend it was!
With the stunning river setting as our backdrop, we kicked off the event with our final meeting of the year. Naturally, the formalities were kept to a minimum, because let's be honest this was more about celebrating than minutes and motions. Reflections were shared, laughter echoed through the air, and plans for an even bigger and better 2025 were tossed around.
Once the official matters were out of the way, it was time to get down to business the business of fun! And Matlosane 45 knows how to do it right. The braai fires were lit, the drinks were cold, and the river called our names. Whether it was the perfectly grilled steaks or the slightly questionable attempts at "flipping the wors without tongs," every bite was savored with good company and great conversation.
The river activities took things to a whole new level. With a boat ready to go, the adrenaline junkies among us wasted no time in taking to the water. Skiing, tubing, and the occasional "oops-that-didn't-go-as-planned" wipeout became the entertainment of the day. Let’s just say some of us discovered new muscles we didn’t know existed after being flung off a tube at high speeds.
The boat rides, combined with the golden sunset over the water, made for the perfect way to cap off what had already been an amazing day.
As the night settled in, stories of the year's highs and lows were shared around the fire, toasts were made to brotherhood and future adventures, and a few brave souls even made plans to hit the water again in the morning (though their enthusiasm may have faded with the sunrise and a slight headache).
Matlosane 45’s year-end function was everything we hoped for and more laughter, memories, and the kind of moments that remind us why we do what we do. Here’s to another year of friendship, service, and, of course, a whole lot of fun.
Until next time, keep the fires burning and the engines roaring Matlosane 45 is just getting started!

Matlosane 45 Weddings – A Celebration of Love and Brotherhood
Round Table Matlosane 45 has always been about more than just service and camaraderie it’s a brotherhood, a family that supports one another through every chapter of life. And in the past few years, we’ve had the incredible privilege of watching some of our own take one of the biggest steps in life: marriage. Seeing our young men grow, not just within the Table but also in their personal lives, has been truly inspiring.
The Grooms and Their Beautiful Brides
First up, we celebrated the wedding of Russel Human and Erithdene. A couple whose love story is as strong as Russel’s commitment to the Table, their wedding was a perfect reflection of who they are—genuine, full of laughter, and surrounded by people who adore them. Russel, who has been a pillar in Matlosane 45, now has an even stronger pillar by his side in Erithdene. Their wedding was a grand affair, filled with heartfelt moments, unforgettable speeches, and a dance floor that refused to empty until the early hours of the morning. From the emotional vows to the joyous toasts, it was evident that this union was built on love, respect, and an unshakable foundation of friendship.
Then came the special day of Henro Louw and Melissa. Henro, known for his dedication and unwavering spirit, found his perfect match in Melissa. Their wedding was nothing short of magical, a celebration of love that had everyone on their feet, from heartfelt speeches to a dance floor that saw more action than a Friday night braai at the clubhouse. Friends and family gathered from far and wide, all there to witness the beginning of a beautiful journey for these two. The ceremony was a perfect mix of tradition and modern elegance, with moments of deep emotion and bursts of pure joy. The reception? A full-blown celebration that reminded us all why love is worth celebrating.
Most recently, we witnessed the union of Jan-Albert de Kock and Nerene. If there was ever a couple that embodies adventure and fun, it’s these two. JanAlbert, with his infectious energy and larger-than-life personality, has met his match in Nerene. Their wedding was a blend of tradition, joy, and a whole lot of partying true to the spirit of Matlosane 45! The setting was breathtaking, with the perfect backdrop of nature enhancing the romantic atmosphere. From the beautifully decorated venue to the stunning bridal party, every detail was meticulously planned, ensuring a day that will be remembered for years to come. The night ended with fireworks, both in the sky and on the dance floor, as guests danced the night away under the stars.
And let’s not forget Ryno Kruger and Judy, another beautiful couple who tied the knot in spectacular fashion. Ryno, known for his steady leadership and unwavering loyalty to the Table, has found a life partner in Judy, who complements his strengths with her own charm and grace. Their wedding was a heartfelt and joyous occasion, with laughter, love, and more than a few tears of happiness. It was a day filled with celebration, where friends and family gathered to honor the beginning of their journey as husband and wife. As the sun set on their special day, it was clear that their bond was one built to last, filled with the same dedication and passion that Ryno has always shown within Matlosane 45.
As these men step into married life, we can’t help but feel immense pride. Marriage isn’t just about two people coming together; it’s about growing, learning, and building a future filled with love and purpose. And if their time in the Table has taught them anything, it’s that teamwork, patience, and a good sense of humor go a long way!
Beyond the weddings, these marriages mark the start of something even greater stronger families, deeper friendships, and the continuation of the legacy of Matlosane 45. We know that these incredible women are not just wives but part of the extended Table family, bringing their own warmth, wisdom, and energy into our lives. Each of these couples has shown us that love is not just about finding the right person, but about building a life together. Through thick and thin, through challenges and triumphs, they will continue to support each other just as we support them.
It’s also heartwarming to see how these marriages have strengthened the bonds within Matlosane 45. From wedding planning advice shared over a few beers to lastminute tuxedo fittings and bachelor party memories that will never be forgotten, the journey to the altar has been one of unity and brotherhood. And let’s not forget the unspoken competition to see who throws the best wedding party each one trying to outdo the last in true Round Table spirit!
To Russel & Erithdene, Henro & Melissa, Jan-Albert & Nerene, and Ryno & Judy congratulations once again! May your marriages be filled with laughter, adventure, and the same unbreakable bonds that define Matlosane 45. We look forward to seeing what the future holds, and of course, to many more celebrations ahead! As we reflect on these joyous occasions, we also look to the future. Who’s next to take the plunge? Who will be the next to don the suit, say the vows, and dance the night away? One thing is for sure when it happens, Matlosane 45 will be there, ready to celebrate, support, and maybe even offer some questionable marriage advice.
Here’s to love, to family, and to the next generation of Tablers in the making! May the laughter never fade, the friendships never falter, and the memories continue to grow.

Matlosane 45 Induction Dinner – A Night of Celebration, Reflection, and New Beginnings!
This past weekend, the gentlemen of Round Table Matlosane 45 came together for a truly special evening our Induction Dinner at the fantastic JD5. It was a night filled with laughter, great food, and even better company as we celebrated the successes of the past year and looked forward to the future.
The highlight of the evening? The official induction of our new Matlosane 45 Chairman, Henro Louw! Taking the reins for the new term, Henro steps into this role with a passion for service, an unwavering commitment to the Table, and a reputation for knowing how to throw a good party (which, let’s be honest, is just as important). We have no doubt that under his leadership, Matlosane 45 will continue to grow, thrive, and make an impact in our community.
But the night wasn’t just about business it was about brotherhood. We took the time to reflect on the past year, to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of every tabler who played a role in making our projects, events, and initiatives a success. We reminisced about the moments that brought us together, the challenges we overcame, and the bonds that have only grown stronger. And of course, we did it all with our loved ones by our side the real MVPs who support us through all the late nights, crazy ideas, and endless commitments that come with being a part of this incredible organization.
As we step into this new chapter, one thing is certain: Matlosane 45 is ready for another year of making a difference, strengthening friendships, and creating unforgettable memories.
To Henro, congratulations once again, brother! We know you’ll wear that chairman’s badge with pride, and we’re all behind you, ready to take on whatever this year has in store.
Here’s to another year of Fellowship, Fun, and Making a Difference!
I am a hard-working individual, who isn’t afraid of challenges and moving forward in life, I have made mistakes in life and overcome them with determination and a strong family around me. I’m passionate about helping others, and if I can change one person’s day for the positive that is worth more than a million bucks.
I’m a husband and a father of two gorgeous daughters. I am self employed and do civils and engineering on and around tailings facilities.
I’m the current Chairman of Carletonville 50, I have grown in many ways since joining Table, with a bunch of amazing gentlemen around me, one can only grow more in strength and character. mI am impatient and stubborn at times but luckily my fellow brothers in Table keeps me humble and in check, and that’s the beauty of Table.
I’m having a blast with like minded men, traveling and meeting new friends as I go along, learning and improving day by day, project by project. My portfolio includes the bar at Carletonville 50, my second year as chairman, project of the year in 2022 for Christmas in November and currently Action Man of STNOFS. I was inducted at Tri-area at Aldam by Werner Swanepoel, it was quite overwhelming being inducted infront of so many people, still remember Mike Menezes breaking me the first night with jagermeister and tequila.
My expectation for the year is to build lasting bonds between myself and my fellow tablers at Carletonville 50, to learn as much as I can from other Tables in my area while enjoying every moment.
To be positive and smile from ear to ear while serving the community and knowing that my Carletonville “Groot Honde” is my pillar of strength and always has my back.

1.How have you grown as a chairman.
I think having to put our faith in other people has always been my weak point as I am very hands on with all projects. I have tried to step back and allow the rest to just stand on their own and take responsibility and run with certain tasks and projects. In doing so I have seen growth in them and taking on projects and the satisfaction from receiving a “well done” added to the fire in them. So, it trusting a bit more and not micro managing will be where I grew.
2.Did you meet your yearly expectations for your table as Chairman.
I had very high expectations so overall I have met about 70% of them. I have managed to do a lot of projects and raise a lot of money whilst also standing as Chairman. I have implemented a few things in our table that has show that it was the correct choice. Fellowship has increased as well as new Tabler’s and a lot of pipe liners. There was the fact that some just ride the gravy train and expect things just happen by itself and there has been times where things was discussed behind other Tabler’s backs which I have addressed but still happened.
Overall, our Table is doing very well and showing growth, I hope it continues as this was my last year as a Tabler.
The J&B Pub and Grill was abuzz with excitement as Round Table Vereeniging 20 gathered for their first meeting of the year. The atmosphere was electric, with kids playing and laughing together, while their beautiful wives and partners chatted and caught up. The evening was a true celebration of fellowship, with Tablers from all walks of life coming together to share in the camaraderie and warmth of the Round Table spirit. The sense of community and brotherhood was palpable, as old friends reunited and new ones were made.
One of the highlights of the evening was the seamless handover of portfolios. The outgoing team was praised for their hard work and dedication, while the incoming team was congratulated on their new roles. The transition was a testament to the organization's commitment to continuity and excellence. The J&B Pub and Grill proved to be the perfect venue for the evening, with its warm hospitality and delicious food. The menu offered something for everyone, and the Tablers enjoyed a wonderful meal together, savoring the flavors and each other's company.
As the evening drew to a close, the Tablers looked to the future with excitement and anticipation. The new year promises to bring new challenges and opportunities, and Round Table Vereeniging 20 is ready to face them head-on. To all those Tablers who have taken on new portfolios, congratulations! May your tenure be marked by success, growth, and fulfillment. And to the entire Round Table Vereeniging 20 family, here's to an amazing year ahead!

on 2024: A Year of Challenges, Growth, and Leadership at Potch 47
2024 has been a year filled with ups and downs, challenges, and moments of growth for all of us at Potch 47. We entered the year with a strong, though inexperienced, Council, aware that we had some work ahead of us especially when it came to membership. While we knew we’d lose a few members to resignations and transfers, we weren’t prepared for the unexpected news that three of our members would resign and another would transfer.
Despite these early setbacks, we stuck to our plan and decided to get back to basics. We started brainstorming and organizing events, the first being a golf day. Our biggest challenge was the low membership, which meant that each of us had to work harder to ensure the success of our projects. Fortunately, we made some great connections with new pipeliners and guests, which helped boost morale and the energy around the table.
As May approached, two key members JP and Wouter left for the 47 International Numbers meeting in the Netherlands, and the final touches of the golf day planning fell onto my shoulders. Time was short, and the pressure was high, but the meticulous planning we had done months in advance paid off, preventing a situation where our performance might have faltered.
Then came a personal challenge. On the morning that JP and Wouter departed for their trip, I received the heartbreaking news of my grandfather’s passing. The timing could not have been worse, and it made the already challenging situation even more difficult to handle. However, the success of the Round Table Potchefstroom 47 Golf Day helped take my mind off the grief, and the event turned out to be a resounding success a welcome relief amidst the personal and organizational challenges.
As June came around, I had a much-needed hunting trip with friends to clear my mind. But upon returning to Potch, we faced yet another curveball. Our chairman, Wouter, relocated to Pretoria, which further complicated the situation. This was a blow for the table, as Wouter was not only the chairman but also the most experienced member. His sudden resignation left a gap, and the chairman’s position was left partially unfilled.
After much deliberation, we decided to split the chairman’s duties between two people, with me stepping in to become the chairman and Wouter stepping down. For both of us, this transition was difficult, particularly given our relative inexperience.
of you witnessed the passing of the Gong at the Central Tri-Area in Hartswater, and it was in this moment that I truly understood the gravity of what had been entrusted to me.
Reflecting on my personal journey this year, I can honestly say that my growth has been exponential. From starting out as a pipeliner, to serving as secretary for a few months, to eventually becoming the chairman this year has been a steep learning curve. I had to learn multiple roles and absorb a great deal of information in a very short amount of time.
Fortunately, I had the incredible support of the 41ers of Potch 47 gents like Sean and Mike, whose experience and guidance helped me tremendously as I navigated these new responsibilities.
At the beginning of 2024, I was just learning the ropes as secretary, but by midyear, I found myself filling the roles of both vice chairman and acting chairman. This juggling of duties often felt overwhelming, but the support from the team, the pipeliners, and the 41ers made it manageable. It was clear to me that without the foundation laid by the experienced members before us, we would not have been able to pull through the year with success.
Most One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned as chairman is that you don’t have to do everything on your own. It’s tempting to want to shoulder all the burdens yourself, but the real strength of a team comes from knowing when to delegate and rely on others. The gents around me are there for the same reasons I am to build, to grow, and to make a positive impact on the table and the community. I’m incredibly grateful for the support of the table, which helped us rebuild our numbers and successfully induct three new members this year.
Looking back, I know I could have done better. It was a tough year, and the challenges sometimes felt overwhelming. But I can also say with confidence that I’ve grown and developed in ways I never expected. The difference between my first social meeting as secretary and the AGM in 2025 as chairman is night and day, and I’m incredibly proud of the progress I’ve made.
At the beginning of the year, I didn’t have many expectations. I was unsure of what the future would hold for me and the table. But through the difficulties we faced, I have learned so much and far exceeded the expectations I had for myself. From being an inexperienced secretary to stepping into the role of chairman in just one year, it hasn’t been easy, but it has been a journey of growth. The trust placed in me by my fellow members to lead the table was both humbling and motivating, and I worked hard to fulfill that responsibility.
Looking ahead, 2025 brings even more challenges particularly with the ongoing issue of membership. But I am confident that we are well-prepared to face these challenges head-on. As the returning chairman, I know that expectations are high, and I also know that we have the right team to continue building and growing our
table.
In closing, I want to encourage everyone to start teaching your pipeliners the importance of being active members of the table and how the Council works. Without this foundation, we would not have survived 2024. We are fortunate that the tablers before us, our mentors and teachers, ensured we learned the ropes early on. That knowledge and support have been invaluable, especially in times of difficulty.
Thank you to everyone for your support throughout this challenging year. 2024 wasn’t easy, but together, we made it through. As I always say, it’s important to remember that it’s meant to be fun. When it stops being fun and starts feeling like work, that’s when the spirit of the table begins to fade. So, enjoy the journey, have fun, and remember that our time on the table may seem long, but it goes by in a flash.

The RT47 Bus Project: A Year of Commitment, Challenges, and Community Impact
2024 marked another year of dedication and service from RT47, as we continued our vital support for the Ooms and Tannies from Skemring, Uitkoms, and Harmonie through the RT47 Bus Project. The project ran for all 12 months of the year, helping those in need by providing a crucial grocery trip each month. It was a year of successes, challenges, and a true display of the commitment from our community, now in its 41st year.
The RT47 Bus Project has been a long-standing initiative aimed at easing the burden of transportation for the elderly and those with limited mobility. Each month, a bus is provided to assist the Ooms and Tannies in completing their grocery shopping, something many of them may struggle with without access to reliable transport. Throughout 2024, we proudly continued this tradition, ensuring that no one was left without the essentials they needed.
While the bus ran for 10 out of the 12 months, we encountered some challenges along the way. In January, the bus’s battery unfortunately died, temporarily halting our ability to carry out the service. In October, we faced the issue of not having a driver available to operate the bus. These unexpected setbacks could have caused major disruption to our plans, but thanks to the collaboration and quick thinking of our team, we were still able to ensure that the Ooms and Tannies received their groceries.
One particular trip that stood out was when the bus ran without a tabler something that had never happened before. A tabler is crucial for ensuring the trip runs smoothly, coordinating the logistics, and helping to load the groceries. Despite this, the team stepped up, and we managed to get through the trip without any major issues. Additionally, throughout the year, we faced other logistical challenges, such as coordinating the timing and availability of drivers, but we always found solutions and kept the project on track.
These challenges highlighted the resilience and dedication of RT47. We’ve been serving the community for 41 years now, and each year brings its own set of obstacles. But as always, our commitment to helping those in need kept us focused, and we continued to deliver on our promises.
A special word of thanks is due to the Dienssentrum, who have been a cornerstone of this project. They’ve graciously allowed us to use their bus each month, and their volunteer drivers have been instrumental in making sure that the Ooms and Tannies receive the help they need. Without their ongoing support, this project would not have been possible.
We also want to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of all the members who have contributed to this initiative. It truly was a team effort. From the planning stages to the actual trips, every member played an important role in ensuring the success of the bus project. Your time, energy, and compassion have made a meaningful difference in the lives of the people we serve.
As 2024 came to a close, we hosted our annual Christmas party at the RT47 Clubhouse. This event served as both a celebration of the year’s hard work and as a moment to reflect on the impact we’ve had on the community. The event took place on Thursday, December 5, 2025, and was attended by 12 guests. It was an intimate gathering that allowed us to connect with those we’ve helped throughout the year and celebrate our collective achievements.
The spread of food included a delicious mix of sosaties, wors, pork chops, garlic bread, and fresh salad filling everyone with warmth and joy. We complemented the meal with a selection of drinks, including mimosas, wine, and juice, and finished the event with small pastries for dessert. As a token of appreciation, each guest received a goodie bag filled with treats a small gesture to show our gratitude for their support.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the Tablers who helped make the Christmas party a success. Ryno, Gert, Tileshia, Mike and myself, with the help of my brother Herman, worked together to make sure everything ran smoothly. Their involvement was essential in creating a memorable experience for our guests.
Looking back on 2024, it’s clear that this year was another chapter of success for the RT47 community. Even in the face of difficulties, we pulled together, making a tangible impact on the lives of those who need it most. As we move forward, we remain committed to supporting our community and look forward to another year of service and dedication.
Together, as a team, we continue to make a difference one trip, one gesture, and one connection at a time.

The RT 47 Wish Week 2024 proved to be a remarkable success, bringing joy and relief to those in need in the Potchefstroom community. The project, which involved gathering and delivering wishes from the public, was a true testament to the collective effort and dedication.
While the initiative came with its challenges, including the complexity of sourcing and assembling the necessary items for food parcels, the results were truly heartwarming. The Tabler’s fulfilled a total of 66 wishes, including food parcels, school supplies, toys, and even a full cricket set for a young boy with a bright future in sports.
The Wish Week project focused on reaching those who needed support the most people who were struggling and often had no way to provide for themselves or their families. As Conveyer of the project, I felt overwhelmed at times, but with the unwavering help of my fellow Tabler’s Hannes Lourens, Gert Nel, and Herman, we were able to deliver meaningful support to those who truly needed it.
The following gifts were delivered to various members of the community:
• 32 Food parcels
• 6 Stationary packages for children
• 5 PEP vouchers for older girls
• 7 Play dolls
• 3 families received diapers
• 4 boys with toy cars and water guns
• 3 daughters with makeup sets
• Complete cricket set for a talented young boy
• A car service
• 2 daughters with school uniforms
• Bed sheets and pillows
• A pair of comfortable shoes
The generosity of the community didn’t stop with the budget; R 33,936.19 was spent with R 25,000 in additional donations generously received. These contributions made it possible to fulfil even more wishes, allowing us to support individuals in various ways.
This project wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible teamwork and commitment of all those involved. Special thanks go to 41’er John Ross Kelly for providing the vehicle to collect and for helping me with shopping, and to Mike, Randal, and Ronnie for going the extra mile in fulfilling a particularly special wish for a young boy in need of a cricket set. This boy, who has a scholarship to play for the Dragons Cricket team in 2025, may very well end up in the national Proteas team in the future a shining example of how a simple act of kindness can have lasting impacts.
As we reflect on the success of Wish Week 2024, I’m filled with gratitude and optimism for the future. There’s a lot of potential to expand and improve the project in the coming years. With some new ideas and more community involvement, we can make Wish Week 2025 even bigger and more impactful.
Thank you to everyone who contributed, whether through donations, volunteer time, or moral support. Together, we’ve proven that by working as a community, we can make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most.
Yours In Table
