EASTER EGG COLLECTION

Algoa 108 Members started their first non-profit project for the year with their Annual Easter Egg Collection. The beneficiary voted in for this year was MTR Smit Children’s Haven with over 90 kids needing some extra love, inspiration and smiles. With our relationship being strong with Acres Spar they had no hesitation to allow us to host two collections again this year.

The first collection was on the 25th Of March, a sunny Saturday morning with members excited to start collecting the first bunch of eggs with the eater bunny. We hired a bunny suit to help welcome the donations which was a great opportunity to put our new guest Marcel, into. It started of slow but is started to warm up and at the end of the day we collected just over 1000 Easter Eggs.
The Second Collection on the 01st Of April was not as good at the first collection and get us another three Hundred Easter Eggs Collected on the day. We had brought in the easter bunny again for support and again gave the suit to anther 108 guest, Greig into the suit. Final day of collection done and dusted with the members excited for the distribution day.
Algoa 108 reached out to Twinkle Twinkle Children’s home in Bethelsdorp and distributing a few extra boxes of eggs to the kids on the 12th of April bringing them joy and happiness this Easter. Thank you to all the members and guest who made the time to bring some smiles and joy to the kids. On the day of the distribution, the 15th of April 2023 at MTR Smit Children’s Haven, the kids lined up with anticipation and smiles across their faces excited and ready to receive their easter eggs. The members enjoyed every moment of bringing joy to every child at MTR Smit Children’s Haven with the help of Acres Spar. Before the members were about to call it a day, the members went to a house on the MTR Smit Children’s Haven complex that had seven old folks aged between Seventy and NinetySeven years of age and 108 wanted to bring smiles back to their faces just as much as we did for the kids, each of them received an easter eggs.
There where a couple of boxes of easter eggs left which was proposed to be added to 108’s next non-profit project, Winter Nights. I am honoured to say that this year’s collection managed to help three different groups of those in need.
