The Heart of a Tabler

Dear Fellow Tablers, Guest and Friends.

I would like to share a very special story wich is close to my heart and what Round Table was and still is capable of. I (Foxie Lieuwes) had to go down to Pongola for a work project.I know the town and the people I was brought up in, Pongola, and my Father was a Tabler at Pongola 222 and also where my love and Pasion for Table started.

Pongola is a very small farming town based in Northern KwaZulu Natal, the Pongola Table has been placed in dormancy. So my story starts with I arrived the Sunday night at Pongola and booked in at the Guest House for the week. Myaelf and the work guys had supper and went to our rooms to have a good night rest for the morning to come.So on Monday morning we woke up went for breakfast and made our way to the sugar mill to report for Induction to commence work. To my surprise the main contractor did not submit our safety file and I had to make up a complete new Safety File before we could even think about doing induction. Without the required resources and correct equipment I could not have done it and to travel back and down from Middelburg would not have been productive and economical.

So I went to an old Tabler who have tabled with my dad in their good old days and of which I have so many memories. So of I went to Mnr Corrie Van Rensburg a past chairman of PONGOLA 222 to asked for Assistance from his office.With a great smile Corrie said to me,Foxie, you know it will never be a problem for one Tabler to assist another and help when in need. He made his own personal Office available and offered me a chair and logged me on to their Wi-Fi and gave me access to a Printer.

So I started to work and get my safety file in order and I could print all the necessary documents for my office who mailed mailed it to me. In about three days my safety file was complete and approved and we could start to work on site. I can with an open heart say this was only possible due to one tabler knowing a fellow tabler and to assist with any problem where they can. This is why I enjoy table so much and what we have to offer one another is truly amazing. I really hope that Pongola 222 will get active soon and Table like in the old days making a difference and sharing the knowledge with others. I can easily say that Pongola 222 will definitely be with me forever as my roots started there with table and how one more Matured tabler opens his doors and welcomes a you tabler in to assist and to share stories and old memories this makes my blood flow.
