Recharging the battery after removal from the machine Charging the battery with a charger Remove the plug, avoid sparking (no smoking); battery acid is highly caustic – wear googles and protective gloves

If the eyes are splashed with acid, rinse immediately and thoroughly with cold water. Consult a doctor immediately.

Trickle charge / booster charge For charging with weak currents (trickle charge with small charger) it is not necessary to disconnect the connecting leads to the electrical system. The instructions of the charger manufacturer must always be observed. When the batteries are not removed from the machine, use a charger with a charging voltage of 24 V (batteries connected in series).

For boost-charging of the battery, the maximum charge current must not exceed 10 % of the nominal battery capacity. Maximum charging duration is 30 hours for a completely discharged battery.

Fast charge x Observe the instructions of the charger manufacturer. x Before fast charging, i.e. charging with high current intensities, both connecting leads must be disconnected and the batteries removed (see: "Inspection and servicing – Safety instructions" and "Removing and installing the battery") x Before charging, open the battery plugs to such an extent that the gas can escape from all cells. x A discharged battery can already freeze in at a temperature of –10 °C. It is absolutely necessary to thaw out a frozen battery before fast charging. Risk of explosion. x Plug the power cord of the charger into the socket only after the terminal clamps of the charger have been correctly fastened on the battery terminal posts. - red

- black

= negative

x After charging, re-install the battery and reconnect in the correct order (first the positive, then the negative lead).
