Drive
The grader is equipped with a drive acting on all 4 wheels of the rear axle (tandem axle).
All-wheel drive
A front-wheel drive can be switched on in addition to the rear-wheel drive.
Front-wheel drive
The front-wheel drive can only be additionally activated, when the machine is in gear. The front-wheel drive is activated and deactivated with rocker switch (41, Fig. 6).
Fig. 6 3100474.00
Activating the front-wheel drive
Press the symbol face of switch 41 (Fig. 6): the symbol is lit up front-wheel drive active
Deactivating the front-wheel drive
Press the blank face of switch 41 (Fig. 2): the symbol is off front-wheel drive inactive
The drive can be activated and deactivated in all states of operation. The drive is switched on and off: - when the machine is stationary and in gear - when the travelling speed is less than 2 km/h When the front-wheel drive is on, the powershift transmission cannot be used in 6th gear. When gear 6 is engaged, the front-wheel drive cannot be switched on. The front-wheel drive is monitored by a microcontroller and adapted to the rear-wheel drive conditions. When the front-wheel drive is off, the front wheels turn freely independent of the drive.

If the hydraulic pump of the frontwheel drive is defective and therefore no longer driven, the machine must be shut off. The machine can then no longer be used, even if the front-wheel drive is off. Locate the cause of the fault and rectify. Front-wheel drive - speed levels
For adapting the front-wheel drive to the working conditions, the speed of the front wheels can be varied in 8 levels with respect to the speed of the of the rear wheels. The speed levels are selected with rotary switch (84, Fig. 7). Position 0 = front and rear wheels have the same speed Positions 1 to 5 = front wheels have higher speed (lead) front-axle traction force is increased Positions -1 and –2 =front wheels have lower speed (lag) front-axle traction force is reduced

Gearshift lever – powershift transmission

Never let the machine roll with the gearshift lever in neutral position N, for instance, when driving downhill.
Forward and reverse travel and the 6 forward and three reverse gears are selected with the gearshift lever (82, Fig. 1).
Fig. 1 3100478.00 All gears can be shifted under load. The electronic gear control only shifts within the speed ranges of the diverse gears.
Automatic mode:
Set rocker switch (88, Fig. 2) to automatic mode. After starting of the engine, the gearbox is in the automatic mode neutral position. Preselection of gears: - Engine speed below 1.500 rpm - Release the parking brake - Press the button on the gearshift lever (82, Fig. 1) and shift the lever fully forwards into forward gear or backwards into reverese gear. Release the button. - The automatic gear control now shifts into 2nd forward or 1st reverse gear. Only if required by the driving situation – for instance setting off under load – will the gear control shift back automatically into 1st gear. - Depending on the speed range, the automatic gearshift then either shifts up into 6th forward gear or down into 3rd reverse gear.
Fig. 2 3100477.00 The control can be switched with rocker switch (88, Fig. 2) optionally into the manual or into the automatic mode.
Leaving the automatic mode and shifting manually
Fig. 3 3100477.00 The automatic mode is ended by setting rocker switch (88, Fig. 3) to manual position. The gearbox retains the gear actually fixed by the automatic gearshift. The automatic mode can also be ended by moving the gearshift slightly sideways. The gearbox shifts into the next higher or lower gear. Thereafter, the machine can be shifted manually down into next lower gears by moving the gearshift lever slightly to the left. By moving the lever to the right, the machine can be shifted into the next higher gears. The gearbox returns to the automatic mode, if either the button on the gearshift lever is pressed briefly or the gearshift lever is moved through the N position.
Forwards-reverse shifting
Reduce the engine speed before reversing the travel direction. Risk of accident due to reversing at higher travelling speeds.
Shifting from forward gears into reverse gears (reversing) is also possible while driving. The machine is braked smoothly and, after stopping, sets off again in opposite direction. Reduce the engine speed before reversing the travel direction.
Shift into the opposite travel direction.
