from rotating or hot parts of the engine. Shut off the engine before opening the engine compartment. The compressor can also be hot after operation. Allow the compressor to cool down before working on it. Read and observe: "Safety instructions for checking and servicing works".
Incorrect tension of the V-belt affects the performance of the compressor and can moreover cause damage to the belt and / or the compressor.
The compressor (11, Fig. 1) is flange-mounted on the engine block. The tension of the V-belt can be checked on the left-hand side of the engine. Open the engine compartment. Check whether the retaining screws holding the compressor on the supporting bracket and those holding the supporting bracket on the engine block are properly tightened and retighten, if necessary. Check the V-belt and replace if damaged. Depress the belt in the middle between the pulleys with your thumb. If the tension is correct, the belt can be depressed by approx. 10 mm. If the tension of the belt deviates from this value, the belt must be retensioned or slackened. To do so:
loosen the tensioning screw (13, Fig. 1) and tension belt as described above; tighten the tensioning screw; check all retaining screws and retighten to the correct torque.
