Cleaning the fuel tank

Risk of explosion

x Place a receptacle below the plug to catch the cleaning fluid.

Never use white spirit, petroleum or other solvents to clean the tank.

x Unscrew tank cap (4, Fig. 3)

Readily flammable, explosive gases are formed. Therefore use only diesel fuel or a special-purpose cleaning oil to clean the tank.

x Remove filler strainer. x Clean tank cap (4) and filler strainer thoroughly with diesel fuel.

Observe the instructions issued by the manufacturer of the cleaning oil.

Be sure to prevent fuel and cleaning oil from seeping into the ground. Keep for re-use or discard in accordance with local environmental regulations.

x Run the machine until the fuel tank is almost empty. x Check how much fuel is left in the tank and place an adequately large receptacle below the drain plug of the tank. x Drain off diesel fuel at the drain plug (Fig. 2), using the oil draining hose. See "Draining hose for oil changes".

x Clean and flush tank with cleaning device. x When the cleaning fluid has drained off: - Unscrew oil draining hose, screw cap onto drain plug. x Insert filler strainer in filler tube. x Fill in fuel through filler strainer in filler tube.
