Risk of scalding through hot engine oil. Collect escaping oil and discard in accordance with local environmental protection regulations. Read and observe: "Inspection and servicing - Safety instructions".
x Bring engine oil to operating temperature. x Park machine on a horizontal surface and secure against inadvertent movement. x Shut off the engine.

x Drain off engine oil at the drain plug (Fig. 4), using the oil-drainage hose. See "Draining hose for oil changes". Once the engine oil has been drained off: x Unscrew oil-drainage hose, screw cap back on drain plug. x Replace engine oil filter. x Fill engine oil in through filler opening (Fig. 2) until oil level reaches "max" mark on dipstick (Fig. 3). (For quality and quantity of oil, see:"LUBRICANTS" and "Filling quantities for oil change"). x After running engine briefly, check oil level (see: "Checking the engine oil level/Topping up oil").
