UNA RACCOLTA SPECIALE PER LE TUE VACANZE

Questo numero di GATE agosto che abbiano chiamato “best of” è una piccola raccolta di tutte le migliori destinazioni e i migliori consigli che vi abbiamo proposto nei mesi scorsi per le vostre vacanze in riva al mare o per navigarci sopra. Questo per chi legge per la prima volta GATE e non ha sfogliato tutti i numeri precedenti, mentre per chi lo ha fatto abbiamo pensato a un “ripasso” delle mete più attraenti. Abbiamo la piccola repubblica a sud del nostro Paese, e quelle della Sardegna, che a giorni sarà sicuramente invasa da migliaia di turisti. Vi proponiamo un modo diverso di vedere e capire la Liguria camminando sui sentieri a picco delle Cinque Terre, e i momenti più rilassanti a bordo di una nave di crociera. Per i più giovani, patite delle notti in discoteca, ecco Ibiza, la regina del divertimento, mentre se scegliete un viaggio tra la natura e la spiritualità ecco le spiagge di Israele. Non manca la riproposizione di quello che si può fare a Roma, magari sbarcati da un viaggio di ritorno. Insomma, buona lettura di questo numero speciale e soprattutto buone vacanze.

ARMANI SILOS – GUY BOURDIN: STORYTELLER fino al 31 agosto 2023

In occasione della settimana della moda di Milano, Giorgio Armani ha inaugurato negli spazi di Armani/Silos la mostra Guy Bourdin: Storyteller, un omaggio all’opera del fotografo francese, nata dall’idea di raccontarne l’intento compositivo e narrativo, al di là della provocazione da sempre associata al suo lavoro. Sulla scia di Alfred Hitchcock ed Edward Hopper, un regista e un artista che ammirava molto, Guy Bourdin è stato essenzialmente uno storyteller, capace di racchiudere interi romanzi, di preferenza gialli o noir, in un singolo scatto.

During Milan Fashion Week, Giorgio Armani launched the exhibition Guy Bourdin: Storyteller in the spaces of Armani/ Silos, a tribute to the work of the French photographer, born from the idea of recounting his compositional and narrative intent, beyond the provocation always associated with his work. In the wake of Alfred Hitchcock and Edward Hopper, a filmmaker and artist he greatly admired, Guy Bourdin was essentially a storyteller, capable of encapsulating entire novels, preferably detective or noir, in a single shot.

LE MERAVIGLIE DI SAN SEVERO

Il grande filosofo e storico Benedetto Croce lo ha definito il “Dottor Faust” di Napoli. Perché il Principe Raimondo di Sangro di San Severo ha passato la vita a sfidare tutte le leggi del tempo e dello spazio, e le credenze del suo tempo. Parliamo della prima metà del Settecento, e per aver importato nel Regno di Napoli i principi dell’Illuminismo e i riti della Massoneria, si salvò dalle censure ecclesiastiche solo grazie al suo altissimo rango nobiliare. Era infatti anche un Pari di Spagna. Alchimista, negromante, inventore, sperimentatore oltre i limiti della Natura, Raimondo di San Severo ha lasciato la sua macchina del tempo nel cuore del centro storico partenopeo, negli splendidi e preziosi spazi della Cappella che porta il suo nome. Ufficialmente tomba di famiglia ,sprigiona tuttora invece energia positiva e luminosa , spinta vitale verso dimensioni esoteriche e simboliche.

Se i gruppi marmorei che ne ornano il perimetro, rimandano a un percorso iniziatico proteso alla virtù e il perfezionamento, il prodigioso Cristo Velato del Sammartino sgomenta per la potenza non solo artistica del corpo pietosamente celato e insieme rivelato dai drappeggi di marmo, che appaiono più leggeri e trasparenti di una garza appena appoggiata. A sua volta la cripta segreta sottostante custodisce due macchine anatomiche che evidenziano dei corpi solo il sistema circolatorio, sopravvissuto allo sfacelo del resto del corpo. Esperimento impressionante fra alchimia e scienza nascente, come la leggendaria invenzione della cosiddetta lampada perpetua e della carrozza anfibia.

Venerato e temuto dai napoletani come un santo laico, custode si dice dei segreti del miracolo dello scioglimento del sangue di San Gennaro, Raimondo di Sangro di San Severo è riuscito a sopravvivere al passare dei secoli e a sé stesso.

THE WONDERS OF SAN SEVERO

The great philosopher and historian Benedetto Croce called Prince Raimondo di Sangro di San Severo the “Doctor Faust” of Naples because he spent his life defying all the laws of time and space, and the beliefs of his time. During the first half of the eighteenth century, he was saved from ecclesiastical censure for having imported the principles of the Enlightenment and the rites of Freemasonry into the Kingdom of Naples, thanks to his very high noble rank. He was, in fact, also a Peer of Spain. Alchemist, necromancer, inventor, experimenter beyond the limits of Nature, Raimondo di San Severo left his time machine in the heart of the historic center of Naples, in the splendid and precious space of the chapel that bears his name. Officially a family tomb, it still releases positive and luminous energy, and a vital drive towards esoteric and symbolic dimensions.

The marble groups that decorate the perimeter refer to an initiatory journey aimed at virtue and perfection, the prodigious Veiled Christ by Sammartino is awe-inspiring for not only the artistic power of the body piously hidden and at the same time revealed by the marble drapery, which appears more light and transparent than freshly placed gauze. In turn, the secret crypt below holds two anatomical machines that highlight the circulatory system of the bodies, which survived decay in the rest of the body. An impressive experiment between alchemy and nascent science, such as the legendary invention of the so-called perpetual lamp and the amphibious carriage.

Venerated and feared by the Neapolitans as a lay saint, guardian of the secrets of the miracle of the dissolution of the blood of San Gennaro, Raimondo di Sangro di San Severo managed to survive the passing of centuries, as well as himself.

PIÙ CHIC È QUELLO DELLA PLEBE

Milano, Cecina, Venezia, Carrara, Viareggio, Lecce, Caorle, Senigallia… Non c’è località cittadina o marittima che non ospiti d’estate un festival dello Street Food, certo il modo più chic, cool e contemporaneo per assaggiare in strada specialità locali e tradizionali non sempre disponibili nei menù dei ristoranti. Si va dalla classica piadina romagnola al panino con il lampredotto di Firenze, dal Pani ca’ Meusa di Palermo alla Miassa piemontese (una sorta di piadina di polenta). E poi Panzerotti pugliesi, Sciatt valtellinesi, Arrosticini abruzzesi, Focaccia genovese fino alla pizza a portafoglio venduta per i vicoli di Napoli e alla altrettanto celebre porchetta romana. Per quanto considerato “moderno” il cibo preparato e cucinato per strada risale agli albori della civiltà, circa diecimila anni fa. I greci già descrivevano l’usanza egizia di friggere il pesce e di venderlo al porto di Alessandria. Se vi capita durante una vacanza in Campania di vistare Pompei, potrete osservare i resti ben conservati dei “thermopolia”, antenati del moderno “baracchino”. Questo perché solo i patrizi disponevano di case con cucine, mentre i plebei si nutrivano per strada con un paio di “assi”, più o meno due euro di oggi. Roba da poveri dunque, anche se oggi invece con lo street food si cimentano gli chef stellati. Ma le “fregature” sono è il caso di dirlo dietro l’angolo. THE FOOD MORE CHIC IS THAT OF THE PLEBE

Milan, Cecina, Venice, Carrara, Viareggio, Lecce, Caorle, Senigallia ... There is no town or sea resort that does not host a Street Food festival in summer, certainly the most chic, cool and contemporary way to taste local and traditional street specialties not always available in restaurant menus. They range from the classic Romagna piadina to the panino with lampredotto from Florence, from the Pani ca ’Meusa of Palermo to the Miassa Piedmontese (a sort of piadina made with polenta).

And then Panzerotti from Puglia, Sciatt from Valtellina, Arrosticini from Abruzzo, Focaccia from Genoa to the pizza sold in the alleys of Naples and the equally famous Roman roast. Although considered “modern” food prepared and cooked on the street dates back to the dawn of civilization, about ten thousand years ago. The Greeks already described the Egyptian custom of frying fish and selling it at the port of Alexandria. If you happen to visit Pompeii during a vacation in Campania, you can see the well-preserved remains of the “thermopolia”, ancestors of the modern “baracchino”. This is because only the patricians had houses with kitchens, while the plebeians fed on the street with a couple of “assi”, more or less two euros today. Poor stuff then, even if today with street food the star chefs try their hand. But the “rip-offs” are the case to say it around the corner. L’unicità del suo territorio è data dalla sua grandissima varietà di ambienti dai quali è possibile scoprire scorci panoramici imprevedibili. Tra i siti panoramici più famosi, il Monte Capanne o il Castello del Volterraio, ma vi sono anche angoli nascosti e sconosciuti tutti da esplorare.

LA STORIA RACCHIUSA IN TORRI E FORTEZZE

Punto strategico nel Mediterraneo per la sua posizione a controllo dei traffici marini e per la sua ricchezza mineraria, l’Elba è sempre stata nelle mire delle più grandi civiltà della storia che, per difendere i loro territori difficilmente conquistati, crearono nell’arco dei secoli moderni avamposti fortificati. Si trovano fortificazioni etrusche, spesso immerse nella macchia mediterranea, torri pisane e appiane, fortezze medicee e spagnole, esempi di inespugnabili architetture all’avanguardia.

I musei più conosciuti all’Elba sono quelli legati all’Esilio di Napoleone Bonaparte: le due residenze Napoleoniche si trovano entrambe a Portoferraio e nella stessa cittadina è possibile visitare il piccolo ma prezioso Museo dei Cimeli Napoleonici e il Teatro dei Vigilanti, sorto da una chiesa sconsacrata che Napoleone stesso volle trasformare in luogo di divertimenti.

SABBIA BIANCA, GHIAIA, SCOGLIERE DI GRANITO E UN MARE CHE NON SI DIMENTICA

Le spiagge all’Elba, oltre 200, sono tutte diverse tra di loro: lunghi arenili di sabbia dorata, piccolissime calette di sassolini, spiagge di sabbia nera, altre di ciottoli bianchissimi, scogliere di granito. Il fondale nella maggior parte delle spiagge digrada velocemente, salvo in quelle di sabbia come Biodola, Marina di Campo, Lacona, Procchio e Fetovaia, dove per circa 30-40 metri dalla battigia si tocca ancora. Tutte le spiagge sono libere o comunque hanno

una buona parte di spiaggia libera. In gran parte di esse è possibile praticare molti degli sport acquatici più diffusi.

SPORT OUTDOOR PER TUTTI

Sulle montagne, su dolci colline, in acqua: all’Elba è possibile praticare il top degli sport outdoor. Si possono provare gli sport più estremi, come il free climbing o il downhill in bicicletta, il parapendio e il triathlon, o altre attività come le escursioni trekking a piedi o a cavallo, il giro dell’isola in mountain bike, o la corsa in tutte le sue declinazioni e gli sport acquatici come vela, kayak, surf, windsurf, diving e snorkeling. Sono numerosi e diversi tra loro i fondali marini da scoprire, così come le grotte naturali e le riserve marine incontaminate.

TURISMO MINERARIO: #ELBAUNDERGROUND

#Elbaunderground è scendere sottoterra alla scoperta di quelli che ancora oggi sono considerati tra i più estesi bacini minerari al mondo, con oltre 200 varietà minerali presenti nella superficie dell’isola e più di un ventesimo di tutti i minerali presenti sulla terra.

Chiuse nel 1981 dopo quasi duemila anni di attività, le miniere ferrose dell’Isola d’Elba oggi sono aperte e visitabili. Il percorso inizia dal Monte Calamita, nella Miniera di magnetite del Ginevro, unica miniera in galleria ancora visitabile sull’isola. Si tratta del giacimento più grande d’Europa ed è considerata una riserva strategica di ferro dallo stato italiano, tanto da essere tutt’ora tutelata per la sua importanza. Altra tappa imperdibile è San Piero, nel lato a ovest dell’Isola, dominato dal granito. Qui, accompagnati da guide esperte in escursioni a contatto con la parte più selvaggia dell’Elba, si può scoprire tutto sull’estrazione e la lavorazione della pietra. Il viaggio si completa con l’esplorazione dei vecchi cantieri di lavoro e dei musei: a Rio marina con

COME RAGGIUNGERLA

L’isola dista circa 10 chilometri dalla costa ed è raggiungibile comodamente in un’ora in traghetto e anche più velocemente con l’aliscafo o con moderne navi veloci partendo dal Porto di Piombino. Si può arrivare sull’isola anche in aereo a bordo degli arei Silver Air, partendo da Milano, da Pisa, da Firenze e ora anche da Bologna, atterrando all’aeroporto de La Pila a Marina di Campo.

il museo mineralogico del Parco Minerario Elbano, le visite guidate alle cave del Bacino e Valle Giove, a Capoliveri con le visite al museo della Vecchia Officina e dei cantieri del Vallone e delle Gallerie del Ginevro, ed infine al MUM, ovvero il museo mineralogico di San Piero per scoprire il meraviglioso mondo del granito.

ENOGASTRONOMIA E TIPICITÀ

Tra i motivi più validi per visitare l’Elba, spicca la possibilità di gustare i sapori della cucina locale, dove tutto parla di tradizioni culinarie che raccontano una lunga storia di incontri tra popoli, di simbiosi culturali, di scambi di ricette. Anticamente divisa in cucina di montagna e cucina di mare, oggi è possibile gustare le diverse tradizioni nei ristoranti dell’isola; una cucina diversa da quella Toscana, uno scrigno di veri sapori isolani, patrimonio di antica saggezza e di moderna passione per i gusti decisi. Uno dei piatti tipici è il Cacciucco, originario di Livorno, ma personalizzato grazie all’impiego di erbe aromatiche: una zuppa di pesce molto gustosa, con pomodoro, aglio e peperoncino in aggiunta a diversi tipi di pesce “povero” e crostacei. Un’altra zuppa elbana di tradizione antica è la Sburrita, un piatto di origine spagnola molto amato dai lavoratori delle miniere elbane e tipico di Rio Marina, a base di baccalà, aglio, erbe aromatiche e olio d’oliva, servito su fette di pane abbrustolito. Degno di nota anche la Palamita, presidio Slow Food della famiglia degli sgombri e dei tonni, che si presta a innumerevoli preparazioni, come il sugo di Palamita e i filetti sott’olio. Il vero fiore all’occhiello dell’isola è il vino. Qui la coltura della vite ha origini antichissime: i muretti a secco che delimitano i vigneti risalgono a oltre 3000 anni fa. Plinio il Vecchio definì l’Elba insula vini ferax, “l’isola che produce tantissimo vino”, e infatti sui fondali circostanti giacciono numerosi relitti di navi sfortunate, cariche di anfore dirette ai principali porti d’Europa.

A DIVE INTO HISTORY

Le Cinque Terre - Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola e Riomaggiore - offrono un patrimonio naturalistico di grande varietà. La notorietà delle Cinque Terre nel mondo è in gran parte dovuta ai sentieri e percorsi che la attraversano. A picco sul mare o lungo le verdi colline dell’interno, i panorami da favola sui cinque borghi hanno contribuito in modo determinante alla fama della zona. Percorrere le Cinque Terre a piedi è un’esperienza unica che sicuramente ci sentiamo di consigliare. Ma entriamo ora nel dettaglio di questi sentieri che vi guideranno alla scoperta di uno dei tratti di costa italiana più affascinanti e sorprendenti per varietà di scenari e ricchezza territoriale. In totale le Cinque ben 48 sentieri con più di 120 chilometri che collegano i borghi alla costa con panorami mozzafiato. Durante la stagione estiva, i due sentieri più famosi da Monterosso a Vernazza e da Vernazza a Corniglia sono a pagamento, tutti gli altri sono gratuiti.

IL SENTIERO MONTEROSSO – VERNAZZA , di difficoltà media e lungo circa 4 km, inizia nella parte orientale del centro storico di Monterosso. Dopo un corto tratto di strada pedonale, alla fine del golfo, inizia una lunga scalinata che attraversa vigneti e uliveti, continuando con un tratto pianeggiante in mezzo ad una rigogliosa macchia mediterranea. Il percorso comprende rapidi pendii a picco sul mare e favolosi panorami. Quando il sentiero inizia a scendere verso Vernazza si attraversano oliveti e campi coltivati, poi si entra nel paese lungo i vicoli per terminare nel magnifico porticciolo.

IL SENTIERO VERNAZZA – CORNIGLIA , di difficoltà media e lungo circa 3,5 km, può essere percorso in entrambi le direzioni. Un suggerimento è di prendere l’autobus alla stazione ferroviaria di Corniglia (biglietto incluso nella Cinque Terre Card) per arrivare al paese situato sulla collina e poi proseguire a piedi per il sentiero fino a Vernazza. Il sentiero in questo tratto è relativamente pianeggiante e nell’ultima parte in discesa. Da Vernazza sulla strada principale del paese, si accede attraverso le viuzze all’inizio del sentiero e attraverso una scalinata si arriva in pochi minuti alla torre sopra le fortificazioni. La salita continua, abbastanza ripida fino al punto panoramico Punta Palma, da dove si prosegue con dislivelli alti e bassi difficili e ci si affaccia

sulla spiaggia di Guvano immersi in campi coltivati, oliveti, vigneti e prati fioriti. Continuando sul percorso si raggiunge il paese di Corniglia, il più piccolo dei cinque villaggi.

IL SENTIERO CORNIGLIA – MANAROLA , lungo circa 5 km e mezzo e di media/alta difficoltà, inizia dalla stazione di Corniglia dove si può prendere l’autobus o affrontare una scalinata di circa 380 gradini (scalinata della Lardarina) fino al paese. Da Corniglia si prosegue poi con un’altra salita di circa 30 minuti percorrendo una vecchia mulattiera attraversando vigneti e terrazzamenti con viste mozzafiato. Si arriva poi a Volastra, passando per il Santuario della Madonna della Salute, e da qui si inizia la discesa verso Manarola tra la macchia mediterranea. Se si percorre il sentiero da Manarola, per evitare il tratto più ripido fino a Volastra, consigliamo di utilizzare il servizio bus che da Manarola porta a Volastra in circa 10 minuti.

IL SENTIERO MANAROLA - RIOMAGGIORE , lungo circa 2 km e di media/alta difficoltà, è piuttosto corto ma molto ripido con scalini alti e irregolari. Questo sentiero è stata

la prima via di collegamento tra i paesi Manarola e Riomaggiore, prima che fosse costruita la Via dell’Amore. Il percorso inizia a Manarola nei pressi della chiesa di San Lorenzo con una ripida scalinata che termina in un tratto pianeggiante. Si prosegue fino al crinale Costa Corniolo dove si scorge nell’entroterra il paese di Volastra, Groppo e sul lato costiero Corniglia, Monterosso con Punta Mesco. Iniziando la discesa, tra vigneti e trenini a cremagliera utilizzati per trasportare l’uva, si intravede Riomaggiore. Si termina vicino alla stazione ferroviaria.

IL SENTIERO RIOMAGGIORE – PORTOVENERE , lungo circa 13 km e di media difficoltà, è piuttosto impegnativo e si può percorrere in entrambe le direzioni. Cominciando da Riomaggiore, in condizioni meteo ideali, si possono vedere le isole Elba, Capraia, Corsica, Palmaria, Tino e Tinetto. Da Riomaggiore il sentiero inizia con una lunga discesa fino ad arrivare all’antico Santuario di Montenero (XV secolo), punto panoramico sulla costa delle Cinque Terre e ottimo posto per una breve sosta. Inizia poi la parte più suggestiva del percorso: una splendida scogliera

con una magnifica vista sul mare con il crinale detto “dei tramonti”, la palestra di roccia del Muzzerone per poi scendere verso Spezia lungo le mura fortificate di Portovenere.

IL SENTIERO LEVANTO – MONTEROSSO, lungo circa 8 km e di media difficoltà, parte a Levanto dalla passeggiata a mare. Si segue la gradinata verso il Castello e poi si prosegue sulla vecchia mulatteria tra pini e vegetazione mediterranea dove è possibile ammirare il panorama sul golfo di Levanto. Il sentiero prosegue attraverso la foresta fino a Punta Mesco e, dopo aver passato le rovine della Cappella di Sant’Antonio e il vecchio faro, si scende con una bellissima vista sulle Cinque Terre, verso Monterosso.

EN Cinque Terre - Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore - offer a naturalistic heritage of great variety. Together with Porto Venere and the islands of Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto, they have been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List as a significant example of how man can shape the environment, respecting it.

Starting in 2021 the Cinque Terre Card was created, a service card that can be purchased at the reception centers of the Cinque Terre National Park and online. With the Cinque Terre Card it is possible to take advantage of services such as guided tours according to programming, use of the bus service managed by ATC within the towns and participation in the laboratories of the Park’s Environmental Education Centre. But let’s now go into the details of these paths that will

guide you in the discovery of one of the most fascinating and surprising stretches of Italian coast for the variety of sceneries and territorial wealth.In total there are 48 paths with more than 120 kilometers that connect the villages to the coast with breathtaking views. During the summer season, the two most famous paths from Monterosso to Vernazza and from Vernazza to Corniglia are subject to a fee, all the others are free.

THE MONTEROSSO – VERNAZZA TRAIL , of medium difficulty and about 4 km long, begins in the eastern part of the historic center of Monterosso. After a short stretch of pedestrian road, at the end of the gulf, a long stairway begins which crosses vineyards and olive groves, continuing with a flat stretch in the middle of luxuriant Mediterranean scrub. The route includes rapid slopes overlooking the sea and fabulous panoramas. When the path begins to descend towards Vernazza, it crosses olive groves and cultivated fields, and then enters the town along the alleys to end up in the magnificent small port.

THE VERNAZZA – CORNIGLIA TRAIL , of medium difficulty and about 3.5 km long, can be followed in both directions. A suggestion is to take the bus at the Corniglia train station (ticket included in the Cinque Terre Card) to get to the village located on the hill and then continue on foot along the path up to Vernazza. The path in this section

is relatively flat and downhill in the last part. From Vernazza on the main road of the town, you enter through the narrow streets at the beginning of the path and through a staircase you arrive in a few minutes at the tower above the fortifications. The climb continues, quite steep up to the Punta Palma panoramic point, from where it continues with difficult high and low gradients and overlooks the Guvano beach surrounded by cultivated fields, olive groves, vineyards and flowery meadows. Continuing on the route you reach the town of Corniglia, the smallest of the five villages.

THE CORNIGLIA – MANAROLA PATH, about 5 and a half km long and of medium/high difficulty, starts from the Corniglia station where you can take the bus or tackle a staircase of about 380 steps (scalinata della Lardarina) up to the village. From Corniglia we then continue with another climb of about 30 minutes along an old mule track crossing vineyards and terraces with breathtaking views. You then arrive at Volastra, passing through the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Salute, and from here you begin the descent toward Manarola among the Mediterranean scrub. If you take the path from Manarola, to avoid the

steepest stretch up to Volastra, we recommend using the bus service that takes you from Manarola to Volastra in about 10 minutes.

THE MANAROLA - RIOMAGGIORE PATH, about 2 km long and of medium/high difficulty, is rather short but very steep with high and irregular steps. This path was the first connecting road between the villages of Manarola and Riomaggiore, before the Via dell’Amore was built. The route begins in Manarola near the church of San Lorenzo with a steep staircase that ends in a flat section. Continue up to the Costa Corniolo ridge where you can see the towns of Volastra and Groppo in the hinterland and on the coastal side Corniglia, Monterosso with Punta Mesco. Starting the descent, between vineyards and cogwheel trains used to transport the grapes, Riomaggiore can be glimpsed. It ends near the train station.

THE RIOMAGGIORE – PORTOVENERE PATH, about 13 km long and of medium difficulty, is quite demanding and can be followed in both directions. Starting from Riomag-

giore, in ideal weather conditions, you can see the islands of Elba, Capraia, Corsica, Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto. From Riomaggiore the path begins with a long descent until you reach the ancient Sanctuary of Montenero (15th century), a panoramic point on the Cinque Terre coast and an excellent place for a short stop. Then begins the most evocative part of the route: a splendid cliff with a magnificent view of the sea with the ridge called “dei tramonti”, the Muzzerone climbing wall to then descend towards Spezia along the fortified walls of Portovenere.

THE LEVANTO – MONTEROSSO PATH, about 8 km long and of medium difficulty, starts in Levanto from the promenade. Follow the steps towards the Castle and then continue on the old mule track between pine trees and Mediterranean vegetation where it is possible to admire the panorama of the Gulf of Levanto. The path continues through the forest to Punta Mesco and, after passing the ruins of the Chapel of Sant’Antonio and the old lighthouse, descends with a beautiful view of the Cinque Terre, towards Monterosso.

«A trainare il comparto sono proprio i single» osservano i responsabili di Vamonos-Vacanze.it. Una volta a bordo essi spendono infatti un 60% più rispetto ad una famiglia di tre persone, essendo più propensi a frequentare spa, casinò e bar.

Prediligono cabine vista mare cercano comfort e relax e, per fare ciò, sono disposti anche a mettere mano al portafoglio e spendere fino a 3.654 euro pro capite, dicono gli analisti del portale. 1Certo è che sono ormai superati i tempi in cui le crociere erano considerate vacanze per over-60, un’icona alimentata dalla nota serie tv “Love Boat” i cui protagonisti —appunto— non erano proprio giovanissimi. Oggi, invece, la crociera è roba da giovani: secondo quanto osserva il portale, il 46% dei crocieristi ha tra i 18 ed i 45 anni ed il 18% ha tra i 18 ed i 25 anni.

IL CUORE DI IBIZA, L’ESSENZA DELL’ISOLA

IBIZA DEL SUD, SPIAGGE, MARE E LEGGENDE

Le spettacolari zone meridionali dell’isola comprendono la vetta più alta di Ibiza (Sa Talaiassa; 475 m), le sue più belle spiagge di sabbia bianca e l’enigmatico e seducente isolotto sud-occidentale di Es Vedrà, che emerge bruscamente dal Mar Mediterraneo. L’isola è associata a numerosi miti e leggende locali, dalle sirene agli UFO passando per la Vergine Maria. Purtroppo, non è possibile visitare l’isola, ma per raggiungere il punto panoramico principale di Es Vedrà, si può prendere l’indicazione Torre des Savinar a 1 km a sud-est di Cala d’Hort.

Il sud di Ibiza, oltre a essere la zona in cui sorgono le più popolari discoteche, è anche una regione di leggende, sia antiche che moderne, con un’installazione artistica contemporanea in cima alla scogliera chiamata Stonehenge e la vista mistica di Atlantide. E poco distante, il Parc Natural de Ses Salines, una riserva naturale di 168 kmq, dichiarata Patrimonio dell’Umanità, con paludi, saline scintillanti, spiagge sabbiose color crema e scogliere costiere ricoperte di pini. È un rifugio sicuro per 210 specie di uccelli, come il gabbiano di Audouin, il falco delle Baleari e gli stormi di fenicotteri in migrazione. Un altro angolo di paradiso da scoprire è poi Cala Llentrisca. Questa sublime baia a ferro di cavallo, circondata da colline boscose, non è accessibile dalla strada, ma si trova a soli 10 minuti a piedi dal parcheggio più vicino e a 4 km a sudovest del villaggio di Es Cubells.

Ci sono alcune capanne di pescatori vicino alla riva, ma per la maggior parte del tempo è estremamente tranquilla, con il mare blu brillante che lambisce il litorale di ciottoli per rompere il suono del silenzio.

Da lì, a piedi, dopo avere mangiato un baklava alla celebre panetteria Abouelafia, si raggiunge il mercato del Carmel per assaggiare i datteri, il succo di melograno, circondati dall’inebriante profumo delle coloratissime spezie. Lasciato il caos di sapori, voci, spezie alle vostre spalle, potete perdervi un’altra volta,

addentrandovi dentro Neve Tzedek, l’affascinante quartiere un po’ bohemien che ha resistito, grazie alla volontà dei suoi fieri abitanti, alla speculazione edilizia. Per chi non è ancora stanco c’è ancora molto da vedere. Basta prendere Rothschild Boulevard per apprezzare la bellezza architettonica, il razionalismo in chiave ebraica dei palazzi che affacciano su questo storico viale che poi sfocia in Dizengoff, altra arteria ricca di bar e chioschi. Il Museum of Modern Art contiene una famosa collezione di opere del ‘900, l’Eretz Israel Museum racconta la storia dell’archeologia, etnografia e del folklore giudaico, mentre nella zona di Ben Yehuda e Gordon street si possono avvicinare i giovani talenti dell’arte contemporanea. Il Sarona Market è poi ideale per gli appassionati di gastronomia e qui si potrà toccare con mano un altro dei record della città: il fatto di essere la città più vegan friendly al mondo.

La città si può anche visitare pedalando lungo i 100 km delle sue piste ciclabili, anche sulla sella delle bici pubbliche offerte nel servizio TelO-Fun. Poi c’è la vita notturna: Carlebach Street e ancora Rothschild Avenue sono sempre accese così come la zona di Tel Aviv Port. Se andate lì capirete perché questa è chiamata party city: qui non si smette mai, a nessuna ora della notte, di divertirsi. In primavera, poi, Tel Aviv ospiterà alcuni eventi da segnare in agenda a cominciare dall’EAT Food Festival (15-18 maggio), il “Fresh paint” l’annuale Festival dell’Arte e del Design (17-22 maggio) e l’“Open Houses” (18-20 maggio), il più grande evento di architettura residenziale e urbana in Israele.

ISRAELE: TERRA DI SPIRITUALITÀ

Israele è la Terra della Bibbia: la Terra dove si incontrano e si coniugano Antico e Nuovo Testamento e Gerusalemme ne rappresenta l’eccellenza. A Gerusalemme vivono ancora le pietre sulle quali ha camminato Gesù e ciascuna di esse racconta una storia. Uno dei luoghi dove le pietre di Gerusalemme parlano è sicuramente la Città Vecchia, splendido sito da visitare che racchiude nei suoi 4 km quadrati una parte importante della storia dell’umanità. Non potrà allora davvero mancare una visita all’arco di Wilson, unica struttura visibile rimasta dal complesso del Tempio del Secondo Tempio, o al tunnel del Muro Occidentale, sito ancora da esplorare che consentirà di camminare proprio sulle pietre delle strade che condussero Gesù al Calvario. Antonia alla splendida Chiesa di Sant’Anna, capolavoro crociato in Medio Oriente, al Santo Sepolcro: questi sono alcuni luoghi tra i più famosi che raccontano la storia della permanenza ierosolomitana di Gesù regalando talvolta una visione inedita della città, grazie anche alle continue scoperte archeologiche che fanno emergere pietre e tradizioni ancora sconosciute.

La Città Antica di Gerusalemme si riveste ora di una straordinaria e rinnovata vitalità, senza dimenticare appuntamenti come la processione che si ripete ogni venerdì.

Jaffa è infatti il luogo ove San Pietro ebbe la sua visione sul tetto della casa di Simone il conciatore (At 10,32), resuscitò Tabitha dai morti (At 9,36), dove Giona salpò per Tarsis (Giona 1:3) e il re Salomone costruì il suo porto (2 Cron. 2:16) sul Mediterraneo. E se si parla di ricerca di spiritualità in Israele, non si può certamente dimenticare il luogo che vide l’infanzia e la predicazione di Gesù: la Galilea. La visita all’antica sinagoga di Cafarnao, dove secondo la tradizione lo stesso Gesù insegnò, o una visita a Cana, dove si ricorda il primo miracolo di Gesù, o una visita al Monte delle Beatitudini sono mete insostituibili e di eccezionale significato spirituale ed esperienziale, oltre che di commuovente bellezza. C’è però un modo forse ancor più inedito per conoscere questi luoghi: compiere un pellegrinaggio a piedi proprio in Galilea, coniugando la dolcezza della natura con lo splendore dei luoghi, camminando come gli antichi discepoli nei luoghi di Gesù. Si tratta del Gospel Trail, un percorso che può essere realizzato anche in auto o in bicicletta o addirittura a cavallo. Circa 60 km alla scoperta dei luoghi iconici del Nuovo Testamento, un percorso segnato e organizzato, messo a disposizione di tutti.

UN PO’ DI RELAX NELLE ACQUE DEL MAR MORTO

Una meraviglia geologica in un ambiente unico e sereno, il Mar Morto è un’attrazione turistica estremamente popolare. Sperimentare la calma, la tranquillità dell’acqua con le sue distinte proprietà curative mentre si gode della bellezza senza pari del paesaggio circostante. farina e poi amalgamata con olio di sesamo. L’eccellenza è merito anche di quegli chef isralieani che si stanno sempre più affermando sia in patria che a livello internazionale. Specialista in cucina biblica, Moshe Basson viene considerato una specie di archeologo del cibo, nonché testimonial della dieta mediterranea. Cresciuto nella panetteria del padre al villaggio di Beit Safafa, aprì il suo ristorante proprio tra le pareti domestiche accanto a un albero di Eucalitptus, come il nome del suo ristorante in cui cucina usando gli ingredienti citati nella Bibbia. Moshe Segev, altro nome illustre della cucina israeliana, ha una formazione più contemporanea, la televisione lo ha portato nelle case di tutti: il suo Segev Concept in Beer Sheva esalta dunque i sapori kosher proposti secondo gli stilemi dei gusti odierni. Un altro luogo da non perdere è Mizlala, la nuova creatura di chef Meir Adoni dopo il ristorante Catit: è una sorta di brasserie israeliana molto all’avanguardia, nella quale i sapori mediorientali giocano a stupire il palato.

Il primo israeliano a libare con un calice di vino, almeno stando alla Genesi, fu Noé sul Monte Ararat intorno al 2500 avanti Cristo e ne restò così inebriato da piantare subito un vigneto. Del resto, secondo la Bibbia, quella a base di uva era la bevanda prediletta, utilizzata anche in medicina. Rispetto al vino biblico, però, quello contemporaneo è decisamente più raffinato, come attesta l’apprezzamento di cui i vitigni israeliani godono. Se l’Università di Ariel è riuscita a riprodurre il vino così come era descritto nella Bibbia è la strepitosa cantina della famiglia Recanati che oggi lo produce: un bianco fruttato che trasferisce in sé tutti i sapori dei vigneti dell’area di Zichron Yacov, la strada del vino del nord di Israele, dove il famoso barone filantropo Edmond De Rothschild, iniziò un’ampia coltivazione di imponenti vigneti. Successivamente il barone decise di produrre uno Château Lafite kosher: la sua Carmel Winery è tutt’oggi rinomatissima. A Zichron Yacov è possibile

visitare il centro della “cultura” del vino che racconta la storia del vino israeliano degli ultimi 120 anni. Israele rimane anche una delle prime destinazioni al mondo anche per uno strepitoso street food che potrà essere assaporato in tutti i borghi del Paese, colorato e inebriante, accompagnato da una sempre fresca spremuta di frutta. Diverranno oltremodo famigliari e compagni di tutti i giorni il gustosissimo falafel o il panino sabich arricchiti di verdura fresca e spezie da tutto il mondo.

TEL AVIV: SEA, BEACHES AND FUN

In Tel Aviv the bathing season is about to be inaugurated with a truly new meaning: return to meet up with each other, have fun and live in safety and normality. According to National Geographic, its endless beach has always deserved a place in the top ten of city beaches. For Lonely Planet it is perhaps the most hedonistic metropolis on Earth, also beloved by the LGBTQ+ community. For art lovers from all over the world, its oriental Bauhaus architecture is a heritage that alone is worth a trip to this splendid location. For those who choose to discover it in total freedom and autonomy, Tel Aviv offers a surprise, meter by meter. The starting point of an unprecedented “urban trek” is naturally its promenade where you can dance, sunbathe, play beach tennis, practice yoga and above all swim, enjoying the sun that shines for almost 300 days in the year.

At the end of the beach, you reach ancient Jaffa, the port from which citrus fruits also departed for Europe for centuries: the labyrinth of its alleys is teeming with art galleries, small sculpture museums, family-run restaurants. From there, on foot, after eating a baklava at the famous Abouelafia bakery, you reach the Carmel market to taste dates and pomegranate juice, surrounded by the inebriating scent of colorful spices. Leaving the chaos of flavours, voices and spices behind you, you can get lost once again, entering Neve Tzedek, the charming, somewhat bohemian neighborhood that has resisted building speculation thanks to the will of its proud inhabitants. For

those who are not tired yet, there is still a lot to see. Just take Rothschild Boulevard to appreciate the architectural beauty, the Jewish rationalism of the buildings that overlook this historic avenue which then flows into Dizengoff, another artery full of bars and kiosks. The Museum of Modern Art contains a famous collection of works from the 1900s, the Eretz Israel Museum tells the story of archeology, ethnography and Jewish folklore, while in the Ben Yehuda and Gordon street area you can approach young talents of contemporary art. The Sarona Market is also ideal for food enthusiasts and there you can touch another one of the city’s records: the fact of being the most vegan friendly city in the world. The city can also be visited by pedaling along 100 km of its cycle paths, even in the saddle of public bikes offered in the Tel-O-Fun service. Then, there is the nightlife: Carlebach Street and Rothschild Avenue are always hot as well as the Tel Aviv Port area. If you go there you will understand why this is called party city: you never stop having fun at any time of the night. In the spring, Tel Aviv will host some events to mark on the agenda starting with the EAT Food Festival (May 15-18), “Fresh paint” the annual Art and Design Festival (May 1722) and “Open Houses” (May 18-20), the largest residential and urban architecture event in Israel.

ISRAEL: LAND OF SPIRITUALITY

In Jerusalem the stones on which Jesus walked still live and each of them tells a story. One of the places where the stones of Jerusalem speak is certainly the Old City, a splendid site to visit which contains an important part of the history of humanity in its 4 square km. A visit to the Wilson Arch, the only visible structure remaining from the Second Temple complex, or the Western Wall tunnel, a site yet to be explored that will allow you to walk right on the stones of the roads that led Jesus to Calvary, must not be missed. From Gethsemane on the Mount of Olives to the pool of Siloam, from the Antonia fortress to the splendid Church of Sant’Anna, a Crusader masterpiece in the Middle East, to the Holy Sepulchre: these are some of the most famous places that tell the story of Jesus’ stay in sometimes an unpublished vision of the city, thanks to the continuous archaeological discoveries that bring out still unknown stones and traditions of the story of Jesus’ stay in Jerusalem. The Ancient City of Jerusalem now takes on an extraordinary and renewed vitality, without forgetting appointments such as the procession which is repeated every Friday.

AND FINALLY, EVERYONE AT THE TABLE…

The secret of the success of the country’s food and wine are the exquisite legume-based dishes, with humus or chickpea cream that considered to be the prince of the table. Barley, broad beans, lentils, millet, spelled are found in many recipes, such as tahini, a sauce made from toasted and ground white sesame seeds until they are transformed into flour and then mixed with sesame oil. Excellence is also due to those Israeli chefs who are increasingly establishing themselves both at home and internationally. A specialist in biblical cuisine, Moshe Basson is considered a sort of food archaeologist, as well as a testimonial of the Mediterranean diet. Growing up in his father’s bakery in the village of Beit Safafa, he opened his own restaurant in the home next to a Eucalyptus tree, like the name of his restaurant where he cooks using ingredients mentioned in the Bible.

Moshe Segev, another illustrious name in Israeli cuisine, has a more contemporary background, television has brought him into everyone’s homes: his Segev Concept in Beer Sheva enhances kosher flavors according to the styles of today’s tastes. Compared to biblical wine, however, the contemporary one is decidedly more refined, as evidenced by the appreciation that Israeli vines enjoy. If the University of Ariel has managed to reproduce the wine as it was described in the Bible, then it is the amazing cellar of the Recanati family that produces it today: a fruity white that brings all the flavors of the vineyards of the Zichron Yacov area, the northern Israel wine route where famous philanthropist baron Edmond De Rothschild began an extensive cultivation of impressive vineyards. Subsequently, the baron decided to produce a kosher Château Lafite: his Carmel Winery is still very renowned today. In Zichron Yacov you can visit the wine “culture” center which tells the story of Israeli wine over the last 120 years.

Israel also remains one of the first destinations in the world for amazing street food that can be savored in all the villages of the country. Colorful and intoxicating, and always accompanied by freshly squeezed fruit juice. The tasty falafel or the sabich sandwich enriched with fresh vegetables and spices from all over the world becomes extremely familiar and everyday companions.

CRESCE L’AREA DI IMBARCO “A”

Zero consumo di suolo e nuove tecnologie al servizio dei passeggeri: a meno di un anno dall’inaugurazione dell’area di imbarco A, ecco aprire la nuova area del Terminal 1 con una capacità di 6 milioni di passeggeri

Ad aprile, c’è stata l’inaugurazione della nuova area del Terminal 1 dell’Aeroporto Internazionale Leonardo Da Vinci di Roma Fiumicino, un’infrastruttura all’avanguardia, dotata di 22 gate, di cui oltre la metà attrezzati con pontili per l’imbarco. Anche in questo caso, come in tutti gli ultimi sviluppi e investimenti realizzati negli aeroporti della Capitale, si è puntato su qualità, sostenibilità e innovazione. In particolare, gli interventi effettuati hanno riguardato tutte le componenti strutturali e impiantistiche, per una progettazione rivolta a massimizzare gli spazi dedicati ai passeggeri e agevolarne l’orientamento. Grande novità, in questo senso, la possibilità per i passeggeri, inquadrando un QR code posizionato sui leadwall dei gate di imbarco, di ascoltare via podcast una guida della destinazione di arrivo con curiosità e luoghi da non perdere, che può essere scaricata e portata anche in volo. Il podcast prodotto è frutto della collaborazione tra Aeroporti di Roma e Chora Media, e rientra nel progetto congiunto “Audioporto di Roma Fiumicino”, che punta a divulgare notizie, storia e arte grazie a varie serie di podcast tematici.

NOVITÀ E SOSTENIBILITÀ

Nella nuova area d’imbarco, con una superficie complessiva di quasi 25.000 mq, sono previsti 12 nuovi loading bridges per l’imbarco diretto sull’aeromobile, 44 self boarding gate, oltre a colonne digitali integrate nelle strutture. Nella zona arrivi, inoltre, è stato installato un nuovo sistema di smistamento bagagli, con 3 nuovi nastri di riconsegna bagagli per una capacità aggiuntiva di ulteriori 3 milioni di passeggeri l’anno. L’apertura al pubblico della nuova infrastruttura aggiunge un ulteriore e fondamentale tassello alla rivisitazione di tutto il nuovo Terminal 1, con un investimento complessivo pari a 500 milioni di euro, che prevede anche l’apertura dell’ex area di imbarco C, prevista prima dell’estate, e la ristrutturazione dell’ex Molo D, che sarà avviata nei prossimi mesi. “Con questa apertura”, ha dichiarato l’Amministratore Delegato di Aeroporti di Roma, Marco Troncone “celebriamo la conclusione di un ulteriore traguardo del progetto di espansione e rivisitazione del Terminal

1, che segue l’apertura del Molo A dello scorso anno. Una tappa importante del grande programma di investimenti di ADR da 10 miliardi di euro al 2046, che ha portato Fiumicino nell’élite globale come qualità del servizio, sostenendo la connettività internazionale dell’Italia e alimentando l’indotto socio-economico: in questo senso, è la testimonianza di un’azienda che mantiene le promesse e supera le aspettative”. Ha aggiunto Giampiero Massolo, presidente di Mundys (gruppo di cui ADR fa parte): “Come Mundys, siamo profondamente impegnati nel supportare il piano di sviluppo di ADR che, ad oggi, ha trasformato lo scalo della Capitale in uno degli aeroporti più apprezzati del mondo. Fiumicino rappresenta per noi un simbolo del modo in cui vogliamo gestire le infrastrutture, coniugando innovazione tecnologica e attenzione all’ambiente per offrire il miglior servizio possibile ai nostri passeggeri. A livello globale, stiamo attuando un piano quinquennale di investimenti, del valore di oltre 10 miliardi di euro”.

UN’INAUGURAZIONE ALL’INSEGNA DELL’ARTE

A dare il benvenuto ai passeggeri, l’opera donata ad Aeroporti di Roma denominata “LEO” da Marco Lodola, artista che in occasione dei 500 anni dalla morte di Leonardo da Vinci ha voluto rappresentarlo con led luminosi in tanti e diversi colori, in omaggio alla sua luce geniale.

Grazie alla lunga e proficua collaborazione con il Teatro dell’Opera e l’Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone, inoltre, durante l’evento di inaugurazione passeggeri e ospiti sono stati intrattenuti da due performance musicali.

Il “Salvator Mundi”: l’ultima opera di Bernini

Grazie alla collaborazione con il Fondo Edifici di Culto del Ministero dell’Interno, i passeggeri in partenza possono oggi ammirare l’ultima opera del Bernini, il “Salvator Mundi”, testamento spirituale del grande artista, realizzata intorno al 1679 e proveniente dalla Basilica di San Sebastiano Fuori le Mura.

L’esposizione si inserisce nella più generale strategia dello hub Leonardo da Vinci di promozione dell’arte e della cultura territoriali e nazionali presso passeggeri italiani ed esteri. L’opera era stata destinata alla regina Cristina di Svezia, alla quale Bernini era legato da profonda stima e amicizia. Alla morte della regina, il Busto venne donato a Papa Innocenzo X, ma dopo ulteriori passaggi se ne persero le tracce. Fu ritrovato nella chiesa romana solo recentemente, circa vent’anni fa.

The “Salvator Mundi”: the last work of Bernini

I SEGRETI DEL PANTHEON IL MONUMENTO PIU’ ANTICO

Una delle curiosità più famose del monumento è il fatto che la pioggia sembri non entrare dal foro sul soffitto: questo accade perché all’interno dell’oculo si forma una corrente ascensionale che disgrega le gocce di pioggia prima che cadano all’interno del tempio. Così, anche quando fuori piove a dirotto, dentro al Pantheon si ha l’impressione di stare all’asciutto, nonostante il foro sul soffitto.

LE FUNZIONI SUCCESSIVE

Per sua fortuna, il Pantheon si è salvato dalle distruzioni dei monumenti romani avvenute nel corso del Medioevo, perché nel 609 fu trasformato da Papa Bonifacio IV in chiesa cristiana, con il nome di Sancta Maria ad Martyres, nome che proviene dalla presenza delle reliquie di diversi martiri cristiani che furono portate nei sotterranei dell’antico tempio romano. Fu il primo tempio pagano diventato una chiesa cristiana. Per questo motivo, è l’unico edificio romano rimasto intatto e che ha continuato ad avere una funzione religiosa dalla sua fondazione a oggi.

Tutti lo conoscono almeno di nome, tutti sanno che è uno dei monumenti che qualsiasi turista di passaggio nella Capitale dovrebbe andare a visitare. Stiamo parlando ovviamente del Pantheon, che racchiude in sé una storia lunga e variegata, anche perché la sua funzione è cambiata nel corso dei secoli, a partire dalle sue origini, raccontate anche dal suo nome: un tempio di età romana, che era dedicato a tutti gli dèi (dalle parole greche pas, tutto, e theos, dio). Ecco allora tutto quello che c’è da sapere su questo meraviglioso monumento, davvero imperdibile se vi trovate a passare nel cuore del centro storico di Roma.

COME TUTTO È INIZIATO

Oggi il Pantheon si trova in pieno centro storico, nell’antico rione Pigna, ma quando venne fondato era il 27 a.C., e fu il genero di Augusto, Marco Vespasiano Agrippa, a voler dedicare un tempio a tutte le divinità, affidando l’incarico della costruzione a Lucio Cocceio Aucto. Il tempio originale fu danneggiato però da due successivi incendi, perciò l’imperatore Adriano lo fece restaurare, tra il 120 e il 124 d.C. E se, dai resti rinvenuti dagli scavi archeologici della fine del 1800 sappiamo che l’edificio originario di età augustea era a pianta rettangolare, fatto di blocchi di travertino rivestiti di lastre di marmo, con capitelli di bronzo e cariatidi e statue sul frontone, la struttura della ricostruzione effettuata nell’epoca di Adriano è invece di forma circolare, quella che conosciamo e ammiriamo ancora oggi, insieme a un portico di colonne corinzie che sorreggono il frontone triangolare. L’iscrizione che ancora oggi leggiamo è quella originaria dell’edificio: “M. AGRIPPA L. F. COS. TERTIUM FECIT”, ovvero “Marco Agrippa, figlio di Lucio, console per la terza volta, edificò”.

Una delle particolarità più interessanti della struttura è la grande cella circolare, detta “rotonda”, che conta otto grandi piloni che devono sostenere la grande cupola emisferica, che rappresenta la volta celeste, casa di tutti gli dèi a cui il tempio era dedicato. Al centro della cupola c’è la famosa apertura circolare (il cosiddetto “oculo”) che permette di illuminare l’interno. Ancora oggi, e nonostante i quasi duemila anni che conta, questa è una delle cupole più grandi del mondo, soprattutto contando che è costruita in

One of the most interesting features of the structure is the large circular cell, called “rotunda”, which has eight large pylons that must support the large hemispherical dome, which represents the celestial vault, home to all the gods to whom the temple was dedicated. At the center of the dome is the famous circular opening (the so-called “oculus”) which allows the interior to be illuminated. Fortunately, the Pantheon was saved from the destruction of Roman monuments during the Middle Ages, because in 609 it was transformed by Pope Boniface IV into a Christian church, with the name of Sancta Maria ad Martyres, a name that comes from the presence of the relics of several Christian martyrs who were taken to the basement of the ancient Roman temple. It was the first pagan temple to become a Christian church. Siamo passati al digitale molto tempo fa. Quali cambiamenti importanti hai notato, avendo utilizzato per anni pellicole e pellicole Polaroid?

Oltre a stilisti di moda, truccatori, maghi dei capelli, scenografi, ritoccatori e artisti del fotocomposito, il mio team include ora anche un esperto di intelligenza artificiale di grande successo! Continuo a stare qualche passo avanti in questo gioco. Nel 2004, sono stato il primo fotografo a girare una campagna pubblicitaria globale di L’Oreal Paris con una fotocamera digitale! Erano così spaventati ma si sono fidati di me ed è stato un enorme successo! Ho abbandonato la pellicola e la scansione nel 2004. Sto anche collaborando a stretto contatto con Fujifilm nello sviluppo delle loro fotocamere di medio formato di punta, come la GFX 100S. Sono un fotografo molto tecnico ed esploro tutti i progressi con entusiasmo.

Per una rivista, generalmente un servizio fotografico è di 8/10 foto o pagine, come lo costruisci?

Sono molto preparato con idee precise, i miei moodboard e tutto il resto, ma tengo aperte le possibilità affinché la magia accada.

Non applico una formula quando costruisco le mie storie, ogni volta mi avvicino al processo da una nuova prospettiva!

Che consiglio daresti a un giovane che vorrebbe fare il fotografo?

Sii molto paziente! È un business molto difficile! Non importa quanto successo abbia il tuo lavoro oggi, dovrai metterti alla prova domani!

Sei bravo solo quanto il tuo ultimo scatto!

Uno che è molto speciale per me si chiama The Angel Factory! La fabbrica degli angeli.

In collaborazione con Erchonia e altre aziende mediche ad alta tecnologia, é Ispirato dall’infatuazione della nostra società per le tendenze dietetiche e la continua ricerca della giovinezza, The Angel Factory esplora questo fenomeno e immagina un futuro in stile Blade Runner in cui il perfezionismo diventa lo standard.

Questo lavoro è prodotto appositamente per mostre d’arte e sarà presentato in anteprima nel 2024.

We went digital a long time ago. What important changes have you noticed, having used film and Polaroid films for years?

Besides fashion stylists, makeup artists, hair wizards, set designers, retouching, and photo-compositing artists, my team indeed now also includes a very accomplished AI expert! I continue to stay a few steps ahead in this game.In 2004, I was the very first photographer to shoot a global L’Oreal Paris advertising campaign with a digital camera! They were so scared but trusted me, and it was a huge success! I abandoned film and scanning in 2004.I am also collaborating very

closely with Fujifilm in the development of their flagship medium format cameras, such as the GFX 100S.I am a very technical photographer and explore all advancements eagerly.

For a magazine, generally a photographic service is 8/10 photos or pages, how do you build it?

I am very prepared with precise ideas, my mood boards, and all, but I keep the possibilities wide open for magic to happen. I don’t apply a formula when building my stories, each time I approach the process from a new perspective!

In collaboration with Erchonia, and other high tech medical companies, is Inspired by our society’s infatuation with diet trends and the perpetual quest for youth, The Angel Factory

explores this phenomenon and imagines a Blade Runner-esque future where perfectionism becomes the standard. This work is produced specifically for art exhibitions, and will premiere in 2024. However, some outtakes from this new body of work are already included in my current gallery exhibitions, as we speak!

OFF-WHITE DI VIRGIL ABLOH E L’ARTE DEL VANDALISMO

La straordinaria storia dello stilista di origini ghanesi, scomparso nel 2021, che ha rivoluzionato la collaborazione con Nike

Che Virgil fosse un nome decisamente singolare per il figlio di due immigrati ghanesi, se n’era resa conto anche la segretaria dell’Università del Wisconsin alla quale aveva consegnato i documenti d’iscrizione per la facoltà d’ingegneria civile. Da Rockford, Illinois, in molti si spostavano a studiare a Chicago o a Milwaukee, ma le finanze della famiglia Abloh, in quel periodo, non permettevano movimenti che non fossero di carattere pendolare. Una madre sarta e un padre venditore di vernici, per quanto integrati al meglio nella comunità di quel centro agricolo della contea di Winnebago, non riuscivano da soli a far fronte ai sogni incontenibili del loro estroso figlio.

Anche per questo, non è sbagliato affermare che Virgil Abloh sia la più completa personificazione del sogno americano: da quel piccolo centro di 150mila abitanti, ha scalato da solo e senza aiuti l’industria del fashion. Tutto è cominciato con la progettazione di magliette in una tipografia di Chicago, mentre frequentava il Master in Architettura all’IIT. È proprio durante quel periodo che è divenuto amico e collaboratore di Kanye West, per il quale ha iniziato a disegnare il merchandising e le copertine dei primi album. Un percorso che lo ha portato poi spontaneamente, nel 2012, ad aprire una boutique chiamata Pyrex Vision, basata su un concept decisamente semplice quanto virale: acquistare lotti di semplicissime ed economiche basics tee Champion e pezzi di magazzino Ralph Lauren, sopra i quali applicava le sue grafiche e le sue serigrafie, rivendendoli poi a centinaia di dollari in più.

L’estetica del vandalismo è sempre stata uno dei trait d’union di Virgil, e raggiunge la sua massima espressività durante l’anno successivo, il 2013, quando il designer di Rockford fonda la sua etichetta Off-White che, ridefinendo quella zona grigia tra streetwear e moda di lusso, era destinata a rimanere nella storia del costume di tutti i tempi.

Inizialmente Off-White incentra la propria estetica su collezioni di tee e hoodie dalle iconiche linee diagonali e dalle etichette riconoscibilissime, accompagnate da un imballaggio industriale. Ma nel giro di poco tempo, si passa alle passerelle: già nel 2014 - infatti - la prima linea di abbigliamento femminile Off-White debutta durante la settimana della moda di Parigi e viene addirittura selezionata come finalista per l’ambitissimo premio LVMH, che per la prima vol-

ta porta Virgil Abloh a strettissimo contatto con l’haute couture.

Ma il vero grail della sconfinata produzione di Off-White è la collaborazione con Nike, che sarebbe iniziata da lì a breve. Durante un’intervista, Virgil Abloh aveva dichiarato che lui e il suo amico Chris Eaton erano così ossessionati da Jordan che avevano “iniziato a disegnare scarpe Nike da inviare al brand. E Nike rispondeva: “Non accettiamo progetti”.

Ma alla fine Nike ha ceduto, e ha fatto bene. La collaborazione di Abloh con il popolarissimo brand è iniziata nel 2017 con la collezione “The Ten”, una part-

nership che ha dato vita ad alcune delle sneaker più ambite di tutti i tempi dai collezionisti. Anche in questa linea, il vandalismo di Virgil prende corpo attraverso un design unico, essenziale e ironico, che decostruisce e ridisegna 10 dei modelli più iconici delle scarpe Nike. In occasione dell’uscita della collezione, lo stesso Abloh aveva dichiarato: “Quello di cui stiamo parlando va oltre le sneakers, va anche oltre la cultura del design. È a dir poco un design all’avanguardia. Queste 10 scarpe hanno infranto le barriere sia in termini di prestazione che di stile. Per me sono allo stesso livello di una scultura del David o della Gioconda.

Puoi discuterne quanto vuoi, ma significano qualcosa. E questo è ciò che importa”.

L’anno successivo, Off-White è il brand più hot del mondo, secondo la classifica trimestrale stilata dalla piattaforma di moda Lyst. In un solo anno, il marchio ha scalato 33 posizioni nella classifica superando per la prima volta maison di lusso come Gucci e Balenciaga. Nello stesso anno, il 2018, Virgil Abloh viene nominato una delle 100 persone più influenti al mondo dalla rivista Time per la sua abilità artistica lungimirante, che ha contribuito anche a far sviluppare e crescere la cultura e l’identità black.

The extraordinary story of the Ghanaian-born designer, died in 2021, who revolutionized the collaboration with Nike

That Virgil was a very singular name for the son of two Ghanaian immigrants, was also realized by the secretary of the University of Wisconsin to whom he handed the registration documents for the civil engineering faculty. From Rockford, Illinois, many moved to study in Chicago or Milwaukee, but the finances of the Abloh family at that time did not allow commuting movements. A seamstress mother and a paint salesman father, no matter how well integrated into the community of that Winnebago county farm, couldn’t cope on their own with the dreams of their fanciful son.

Also for this reason, it is not wrong to say that Virgil Abloh is the most complete personification of the American dream: from that small center of 150 thousand inhabitants, he climbed alone and without help the fashion industry. It all started with the design of t-shirts in a Chicago print shop, while he was attending his Master of Architecture at IIT. It was during this time that he became a friend and collaborator of Kanye West, for whom he designed the merchandising and the covers of his first albums.

A path that led him then spontaneously, in 2012, to open a boutique called Pyrex Vision, based on a concept very simple as viral: buy lots of cheap and basics Champion’s tee and pieces of Ralph Lauren stock, over which he applied his graphics and silkscreens, then sold for hundreds of dollars more.

The aesthetics of vandalism has always been one of the Virgil traits d’union, and reaches its maximum expressiveness during the following year, 2013, when the Rockford designer founded his label Off-White that, redefining that gray area between streetwear and luxury fashion, was destined to remain in the history of costume of all time. Initially Off-White focuses its aesthetic on collections of tee

and hoodie with iconic diagonal lines and recognizable labels, accompanied by industrial packaging. But in a short time, they move on to the runway: already in 2014 - in fact - the first line of Off-White women’s clothing debuts during the Paris fashion week and is even selected as a finalist for the coveted LVMH award, that for the first time brings Virgil Abloh in contact with haute couture. But the real grail of the boundless production of Off-White is the collaboration with

Nike. During an interview, Virgil Abloh stated that he and his friend Chris Eaton were so obsessed with Jordan that they had “started designing Nike shoes to send it to the brand. And Nike said, “We don’t accept projects”.

But in the end Nike gave in, and it did well. Abloh’s collaboration with the hugely popular brand began in 2017 with the “The Ten” collection, a partnership that gave rise to some of the most coveted sneakers of all time by collectors. Also in this line, Virgil’s vandalism takes shape through a unique, essential and ironic design, which deconstructs and redesigns 10 of the most iconic models of Nike shoes. On the occasion of the release of the collection, Abloh himself said: “What we are talking about goes beyond sneakers, it also goes beyond the culture of design. It’s nothing short of a cutting-edge design. These 10 shoes have broken barriers in both performance and style. For me, they are on the same level as a David or Mona Lisa sculpture. You can discuss them as much as you want, but they mean something. And that’s what matters”.

The following year, Off-White is the hottest brand in the world, according to the quarterly ranking compiled by the fashion platform Lyst. In just one year, the brand climbed 33 places in this ranking, surpassing for the first time luxury brands such as Gucci and Balenciaga. In the same year, 2018, Virgil Abloh was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine for his artistic ability, which also helped develop and grow black culture and identity.

Tra i tanti brand che possono vantare l’essere rappresentativi del Made in Italy ce n’e uno che spicca rispetto agli altri, parliamo di Aspesi azienda fondata da Alberto Aspesi nel 1969, nata a Legnano in Lombardia inizialmente per produrre camicie ma nel tempo si è specializzata nella creazione di collezioni total look uomo/donna, diventando un vero punto di riferimento del prét-a-porter italiano. Negli anni 70 per quanto riguardava la moda e le sue tendenze i punti di riferimento erano tutti oltralpe ed esattamente a Parigi dove l’Haute Couture determinava le regole stilistiche a livello internazionale, ma i brand italiani e soprattutto Aspesi iniziarono a puntare sulla ricerca dei materiali, ridisegnando un nuovo concetto di eleganza e rivedendo le proporzioni di una nuova vestibilità, una nuova estetica stava affacciandosi all’intero sistema moda determinandone il cambiamento, Aspesi in questo senso è stato uno dei primi brand capaci di avviare questo nuovo approccio dove eleganza, ricerca e proporzioni ridisegnavano il nuovo concetto di vestibilità e moda.

Aspesi ha un nuovo modo di interpretare la moda rispetto a quello che le altre maison sviluppano, una visione non convenzionale e un innovativo metodo di raccontare la propria storia e i propri prodotti, questo avviene attraverso la scelta di collaborare con fotografi internazionali capaci di cogliere al meglio la filosofia del brand, tra questi citiamo i grandi Peter Lindberg, Oliviero Toscani e Paolo Roversi che sono stati capaci non solo di raccontare al meglio la visone del brand ,ma anche d’interpretare la sua passione per l’arte e l’architettura che traspare non solo nelle campagne pubblicitarie ma anche nelle linee stilistiche di tutte le collezioni, Lindberg ad esempio scatterà la campagna pubblicitaria sulle coste americane di Palm Springs dove le protagoniste saranno 2 top model del calibro di Linda Evangelisti e Christy Turlington, bellezza e leggerezza saranno la nuova visione della moda della maison lombarda.

Ancora oggi il minimalismo e la super eleganza sono parte integrante e viva dello stile di Aspesi che riesce in modo unico ed esclusivo ad avere una personalità chiara e riconoscibile fedele al proprio Dna pur rinnovandosi anno dopo anno conquistando le preferenze dei consumatori di tutto il globo. Ad interpretare lo stile di Aspesi è lo stilista Lawrence Steele che già in passato aveva collaborato come creativo della linea femminile, invece dal 2020 diventerà il Direttore Creativo di tutte le collezioni della maison, il designer americano vanta nel suo curriculum vitae un passato in Marni, Prada e Moschino, che contribuiranno ad alimentare il suo estro creativo che porterà inesorabilmente all’interno della maison di Legnano, coniugando al meglio ricerca tessile e design. Nel 2017 Aspesi viene acquistato dal private equitty italiano Armonia SGR che darà nuove risorse economiche e riporterà a casa come sopra dichiarato uno dei suoi creativi più sensibili e capace di dare continuità allo stile unico della maison, creando abiti dall’inconfondibile vestibilità capaci di durare nel tempo.

Durante le presentazioni alla stampa noi di Gate abbiamo avuto il piacere di essere invitati nel negozio Aspesi di Milano dove abbiamo visto le nuove collezioni e chiacchierato con collaboratori del brand e il loro ufficio stampa per scoprire qualcosa in più dell’evoluzione di uno dei brand più rappresentativi del nostro Made in Italy.

Chi sono gli uomini e le donne Aspesi? Sicuramente persone autentiche e fedeli a se stesse, con una grande personalità e nella maggior parte dei casi persone pure. ASPESI è un brand autentico, forte di un pragmatismo che lascia intravedere un senso molto profondo di intimità nel proprio racconto. I capi di ASPESI compongono un vero e proprio guardaroba di funzioni d’uso, pensati per essere trasversali, intercambiabili. Ci piace pensare che la stessa giacca che ieri indossava il nonno e che per lui rappresentava un senso di autorità e sicurezza, oggi sia indossata dalla nipote, che interpreta il capo in chiave più ribelle e libera. In questo senso, il guardaroba aiuta le persone ad esprimere al meglio

la propria personalità ed autenticità, senza soffocarle. Il piumino è stato il primo capo di successo del vostro brand, come è evoluto nel tempo?

La storia di ASPESI è permeata di episodi legati alla funzionalità. Come quello legato al piumino. Il brand è stato il primo a introdurre il piumino, fino ad allora considerato un capo puramente tecnico, come elemento di un guardaroba più urban e trasversale. L’idea nasce durante una chiacchierata tra Alberto Aspesi e Franco Moschino, che diede il suo nome alla giacca.

I capispalla tecnici sono poi diventati capisaldi del guardaroba ASPESI e si legano al binomio tra la realizzazione di capi iconici, senza tempo, e la costante ricerca di materiali innovativi e inaspettati.

Quali sono i tessuti più usati per realizzare i vostri capi?

Il nylon è certamente un tessuto iconico per il brand, ma in generale ci riguardano tutti i tessuti pregiati: Aspesi utilizza tessuti di alta qualità come lino, seta, cashmere e lane pregiate per creare capi di abbigliamento senza tempo e confortevoli.

Aspesi è nell’immaginario comune un brand invernale ma avete una bellissima collezione estiva ne vogliamo parlare?

L’estetica Aspesi è classica, elegante e senza tempo ed è rimasta popolare per decenni. I design del marchio sono pensati per essere indossati negli anni e sono una testimonianza del fascino duraturo del classico stile italiano.

Ogni collezione incorpora però nuovi elementi nel guardaroba, aggiornandolo con stampe, tessuti e tagli dedicati alla stagione.

Nella primavera estate vi è un richiamo alle stampe che evocano l’estetica della vacanza. I look della collezione mixano poi elementi apparentemente distopici, come paillettes e nylon, che convivono in accostamenti dai colori pastello, smorzati da classiche camicie in lino, il brand è capace di soddisfare ogni esigenza legata alla stagionalità.

Avete un archivio molto importante, ci sono dei capi iconici che sono stati importanti e diventati nel tempo fonte ispiratrice?

I design ASPESI presentano spesso silhouette eterne, come giacche dal taglio morbido, pantaloni dritti, camicie classiche e capispalla in nylon. Queste forme senza tempo sono progettate per valorizzare una vasta gamma di fisicità e non passare mai di moda. Possiamo citare i “Fundamentals” che riassumono i valori del brand di pragmatismo, vestibilità, essenza, veri e propri capi iconici d’archivio ASPESI: Pinguino, Gabetta, Orso, Magenta, Moschino, Piumino, Gilet piuma, Field Jacket...

Negli anni 80 avere un capo Aspesi significava un vero status symbol, questa azienda è stata capace di creare capi d’abbigliamento capaci d’interpretare in pieno il cambiamento che la moda stava vivendo in quel periodo, abiti e giubbotti dalla duplice funzionalità a seconda di come venivano indossati e in quale occasione.

Giubbotti in nylon e velcro capaci di contribuire ad aumentare l’eleganza se indossati sopra un abito elegante e formale per andare al lavoro o per qualche evento mondano importante, ma altresì funzionali e pratici se indossati sopra i jeans ed un maglione di cachemire per una sfrecciata in moto oppure un pomeriggio allo stadio, questo nuovo modo di approcciare la moda è stato il punto di forza di questo brand che oggi unisce generazioni lontane l’una dall’altra ma con le medesime esigenze, eleganza, vestibilità, adattabilità e glamour.

Paris where Haute Couture determined stylistic rules at an international level, while Italian brands and above all Aspesi, began to focus on researching materials , redesigning a new concept of elegance and reviewing the proportions of a new fit as a new aesthetic was appearing in the entire fashion system influencing its change. In this sense, Aspesi was one of the first brands capable of starting this new approach where elegance, research and proportions redesigned the new concept of wearability in fashion.

The visions of certain stylists gave strength to the brand which fed on the intuition of creatives such as Franco Moschino, Walter Albini and Marco Zanini who gave new creative lifeblood with a modern and uncontaminated vision from those static and outdated elements typical of French fashion. During a discussion between Alberto Aspesi and Franco Moschino, the first down jacket with minimal lines was created and a new wearability emerged on the international scene with intense attention to the research of fabrics and new materials that quickly made this garment the most iconic object of the maison.

EN Among the many brands that can boast being representative of Made in Italy, there is one that stands out from the others. Aspesi, a company founded by Alberto Aspesi in 1969, born in Legnano in Lombardy, initially produced shirts but over time became specialized in the creation of men’s/ women’s “total look” collections, becoming a true point of reference for Italian prêt-a-porter.

In the 1970s, as far as fashion and its trends were concerned, reference points were beyond the Alps and precisely in

brand. Among these we can mention the great Peter Lindberg, Oliviero Toscani and Paolo Roversi who were able not only to describe the vision of the brand, but also to interpret its passion for art and architecture that shines through not only in the advertising campaigns but also in the stylistic lines of all the collections.

For example, Lindberg shot the advertising campaign on the American coasts of Palm Springs where the protagonists were 2 top models of the caliber of Linda Evangelisti and

Christy Turlington; beauty and lightness was the new vision of fashion from the Lombard maison.

Even today, minimalism and super elegance are an integral and living part of Aspesi’s style which manages, in a unique and exclusive way, to have a clear and recognizable personality faithful to its DNA while renewing itself year after year, and conquering the preferences of consumers from all over the globe. Interpreting Aspesi’s style is stylist Lawrence Steele who in the past had already collaborated as creative for the women’s line. In 2020 he became the Creative Director of all the collections of the maison. The American designer boasts in his curriculum vitae a past in Marni, Prada and Moschino, which helped fuel his creative flair which he inexorably brings into the Legnano maison, combining textile research and design in the best possible way. In 2017 Aspesi was bought by the Italian private equity firm Armonia SGR which gave them new economic resources and brought home one of its most sensitive creatives while being able to give continuity to the unique style of the maison creating clothes with an unmistakable wearability capable of lasting the test of time.

During the press presentations we at Gate had the pleasure of being invited to the Aspesi store in Milan where we saw the new collections and chatted with brand collaborators and their press office to find out more about the evolution of one of the most representative of Made in Italy.

Who are the Aspesi men and women?

Definitely authentic people and true to themselves, with a great personality and in most cases pure people. ASPESI is an authentic brand, strong in pragmatism that reveals a very deep sense of intimacy in its story. ASPESI garments make up a veritable wardrobe of functional uses, designed to be transversal, interchangeable. We like to think that the same jacket that grandfather wore yesterday and which for him represented a sense of authority and security, is now worn by his granddaughter, who interprets the garment in a more rebellious and free way. In this sense, the wardrobe helps people to best express their personality and authenticity, without suffocating them.

The down jacket was your brand’s first successful garment, how has it evolved over time?

The history of ASPESI is permeated with episodes related to functionality. Like the one tied to the duvet. The brand was the first to introduce the down jacket, until then considered a purely technical garment, as an element of a more urban and transversal wardrobe. The idea was born during a chat between Alberto Aspesi and Franco Moschino, who gave his name to the jacket.

The technical outerwear then became cornerstones of the ASPESI wardrobe and are linked to the combination between the creation of iconic, timeless garments and the constant search for innovative and unexpected materials.

What are the most used fabrics to make your garments?

Nylon is certainly an iconic fabric for the brand, but in general we are all concerned with fine fabrics. Aspesi uses high quality fabrics such as linen, silk, cashmere and fine wools to create timeless and comfortable garments.

Aspesi is a winter brand in the common imagination but do you have a beautiful summer collection and shall we talk about it?

The Aspesi aesthetic is classic, elegant and timeless and has remained popular for decades. The brand’s designs are meant to be worn through the ages and are a testament to the enduring appeal of classic Italian style.

However, each collection incorporates new elements into the wardrobe, updating it with prints, fabrics and cuts dedicated to the season.

In spring summer there is a reference to prints that evoke the aesthetics of the holiday. The looks of the collection then mix apparently dystopian elements, such as sequins and nylon, which coexist in pastel-colored combinations, toned down by classic linen shirts. The brand is capable of satisfying every need related to seasonality.

Do you have an important archive? Are there any iconic garments that have been important and have become a source of inspiration over time?

ASPESI designs often feature timeless silhouettes, such as relaxed fit jackets, straight trousers, classic shirts and nylon outerwear. These timeless shapes are designed to flatter a range of body shapes and never go out of style. We can mention the “Fundamentals” which summarize the brand’s values of pragmatism, wearability, essence, real iconic items from the ASPESI archive: Pinguino, Gabetta, Orso, Magenta, Moschino, Piumino, Gilet feather, Field Jacket...

In the 80s having an Aspesi garment meant a true status symbol, this company was able to create clothing capable of fully interpreting the change that fashion was experiencing in that period, suits and jackets with dual functionality depending on how they were worn and on which occasion. Nylon and Velcro jackets able to help increase elegance if worn over an elegant and formal dress to go to work or for some important social event. But also functional and practical if worn over jeans and a cashmere sweater for a dash on a motorbike or an afternoon at the stadium. This new way of approaching fashion has been the strong point of the brand which today unites generations with the same needs, elegance, wearability, adaptability and glamour.

La culla degli Usa è conosciuta come “triangolo storico” (“Historic Triangle”), e comprende alcune cittadine dove i primi coloni britannici si stabilirono quando andarono a colonizzare il Nuovo Mondo 400 anni or sono.Tre sono le cittadine che meritano una visita per ripercorrere le vicende che hanno reso gli Stati Uniti d’America il Paese che è oggi: Jamestown, Williamsburg e Yorktown. Il “triangolo storico” si trova a poco più di un paio d’ore di auto dalla Capitale, Washington D.C.. Le tre città sono collegate tra loro dalla strada panoramica Colonial Parkway, che in 37 km attraversa il National Scenic Byway. Il perfetto road trip da fare in America. È a Jamestown che nacque la prima colonia americana nel XVII secolo. La città, così chiamata in omaggio al re d’Inghilterra James I, fu anche la prima Capitale della Virginia (oggi è Richmond). Tra gli eroi cittadini c’è un certo John Smith, un mercenario che ebbe il merito di instaurare ottimi rapporti con i nativi americani, in particolare con un’indiana di nome Pocahontas, che ha ispirato il celebre cartoon della Disney. Oggi Jamestown è stata ricostruita come parco a tema con tanto di villaggio indiano, forte e porto con velieri attraccati. Williamsburg è considerato, invece, il più grande museo storico vivente. Fu qui che vissero personaggi come Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe e altri iniziarono a costituire gli Stati Uniti d’America. Ancora oggi, nel quartiere più antico, Colonial Williamsburg, è come fare un salto indietro nel tempo. Le antiche case di legno o di mattoni rossi costruite

tra il ’600 e il ‘700 erano quelle abitate dai primi coloni e ancora oggi figurati in costumi dell’epoca, ma anche gente normale che ama indossare gli abiti tradizionali, si aggirano per le strade come fossero ancora nel 1600. Tra i luoghi da visitare c’è sicuramente la Christiana Campbell’s Tavern frequentata da George Washington. La cittadina di Yorktown, infine, è quella dove si conclusero le prime lotte per l’Indipendenza e che videro la nascita della nuova Nazione. Del primo abitato storico sono rimaste poche case, alcune appartenenti a privati. È qui che il generale britannico Charles Cornwallis si arrese al generale Washington nel 1781 tanto che questa sconfitta pose termine alla Guerra d’indipendenza americana. Tra i tour consigliati c’è la visita del campo di battaglia. Ma Yorktown ebbe un ruolo importante anche nella Guerra civile americana in quanto maggior porto per lo scarico dei rifornimenti. Per gli appassionati di Stati Uniti, di storia, per una vacanza tra storia e natura, questo è il viaggio perfetto.

LA STORICA BRESSANONE

È la città più antica dell’Alto Adige e, ancora oggi, conserva un centro storico circondato, in parte, da mura, accessibile attraverso cinque porte. Le sue strade acciottolate costeggiate da portici sotto i quali sono sorti negozi e tantissimi locali, sono un invito a passeggiare in ogni stagione. Da qui passò spesso Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart durante i suoi viaggi in Italia. A trip to the heart of the USA, Virginia, where it all began to discover places still barely known to non-American tourists.

The cradle of the USA is known as the “Historic Triangle”, and includes some towns where the first British settlers settled when they colonized the New World 400 years ago. There are three towns that are worth a visit to retrace the events that made the United States of America the country it is today: Jamestown, Williamsburg and Yorktown. The “historic triangle” is located just over a couple of hours’ drive from the capital, Washington D.C. The three cities are connected to each other by the scenic Colonial Parkway, which crosses the National Scenic Byway for 37 km. The perfect road trip to do in America. The first American colony was born in the 17th century in Jamestown. The city, named in homage to the King of England James I, was also the first capital of Virginia, while today it is Richmond. Among the citizens’ heroes is a certain John Smith, a mercenary who had the merit of establishing excellent relationships with the Native Americans, in particular with an Indian named Pocahontas, who inspired the famous Disney cartoon. Today Jamestown has been redeveloped as a theme park complete with an Indian village, fort and harbor with docked sailing ships.

Williamsburg is considered, however, the largest living history museum. It was where people like Thomas Jefferson lived, and James Monroe with others began to form the United States of America. Even today, in the oldest neighborhood, Colonial Williamsburg, is like a step back in time. Lake Garda always envokes great emotion to those who visit it, but there is an area that is perfect for outdoor activities. It is the Trentino Garda area, which is the northern shore of the lake, including towns such as Riva del Garda, Arco, Nago-Torbole sul Garda, Dro, Drena, Tenno, Valle di Ledro, Comano and the Valle dei Laghi, up to the Dolomites of Brenta. THE RENAISSANCE VILLAGE IN UMBRIA

Built along the ancient Via Flaminia, the village of Acquasparta, one of the most beautiful in Italy, is part of a splendid natural setting between valleys and woods. HISTORIC BRESSANONE

The oldest city in South Tyrol and today it still retains an historic center partially surrounded by walls, accessible through five gates. Its cobbled streets lined with arcades under which shops and many clubs have sprung up are an invitation to stroll in every season. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart often passed through here during his travels in Italy. Bressanone was a bishop’s city and there are many places to visit, starting from the Cathedral with its frescoed 10th-century cloister to the Bishop’s Palace with the Diocesan Museum, the Hofburg, up to the Torre Bianca of the church of San Michele with its miniature bells. A perfect destination for a weekend trip.

SLOW TOUR FRA LE VILLE MEDICEE TOSCANE

Ho avuto l’opportunità di fare uno Slow Tour in Toscana con un camper Laika, il van Ecovip 645. Dopo un piacevole giro tra le colline fiorentine, talvolta anche perdendomi tra le stradine collinari, ho deciso di parcheggiare presso la struttura Hu Firenze Camping in Town. In realtà ho scelto di girare un po’ a vanvera, ma se avessi preso l’autostrada, sarei uscita a Firenze Sud e avrei trovato il campeggio a breve distanza. Sebbene lo chiami “campeggio”, un po’ all’antica, questi luoghi sono attrezzati con un’organizzazione impeccabile, quasi svizzera, che permette di trascorrere piacevoli momenti di vacanza... Ciò che rende tutto ancora più divertente è che lì è possibile trovare ogni tipo di soluzione per le vacanze: camper, roulotte, tende, villini. È meglio che andare a una fiera! Poi ho deciso di noleggiare una bicicletta e dirigermi verso il centro di Firenze. Il percorso

lungo l’Arno, sulla pista ciclabile, è un’esperienza di viaggio diversa. Arrivare nel cuore della città, fino agli Uffizi, evitando il traffico e soprattutto le folle di turisti, aggiunge fascino alla visita di questa città che rimane una tappa imprescindibile in un viaggio in Italia che si rispetti! Per sfuggire all’affollamento turistico, però, ho deciso per una breve pausa rilassante all’Orto Botanico, che si trova proprio nel centro di Firenze. Qui, l’Università organizza corsi di botanica sull’uso delle piante nella vita quotidiana.

Il mio vero obiettivo nei tre giorni a disposizione per questo giro era esplorare le Ville Medicee, patrimonio dell’UNESCO. Queste splendide residenze furono commissionate e curate dalla famiglia Medici in diversi momenti della loro lunga storia come “padroni” della Toscana e di Firenze, diventando luoghi di delizia e bellezza per i vari illustri membri della famiglia. La storia delle Ville medicee è affascinante, partendo da Cosimo il Vecchio che inaugurò Villa Careggi, passando per l’Accademia neoplatonica e il Rinascimento. Giovanni e Lorenzo di Pierfrancesco commissionarono a Botticelli la celebre Nascita di Venere e la Primavera per Villa Castello, dove Cosimo Primo fece realizzare il primo giardino all’italiana ad opera di Tribolo. Non solo: Francesco realizzò a Pratolino uno strepitoso giardino alchemico e Ferdinando ampliò Villa Petraia, un luogo di delizie dove la musica del suo matrimonio diede inizio a una nuova concezione musicale grazie alla Camerata dei Bardi...

Ogni Villa ha una storia unica e riflette la personalità di chi l’abitò. Del resto queste residenze dovevano discostarsi da quelle medievali, che erano fortezze votate alla difesa.

Un itinerario in camper in provincia di Firenze e non solo [Syusy Blady]

Durante l’era medicea furono trasformate in ville del bel vivere, luoghi di piacere e bellezza come li conosciamo oggi. Circondate da giardini, le Ville erano in parte autosufficienti grazie alla coltivazione di agrumi e all’orto. Non mancavano vasche per i pesci, giochi d’acqua e decorazioni allegoriche che dovevano rappresentare il paradiso in terra, con un’idea maniacalmente geometrica di ordine, anche quando si voleva evocare la natura selvaggia, come nella grotta degli animali a Villa Castello!

All’interno delle Ville medicee si possono ammirare meravigliosi affreschi che celebrano le gesta dei proprietari, come nel cortile di Villa Petraia, o conducono gli ospiti lungo percorsi sorprendenti di natura allegorica e alchemica, come a Pratolino, dove incredibili automi azionati dall’acqua suonavano organi e animavano scenografie straordinarie, culminando in un banchetto allestito su una quercia secolare. Che dire? Non è un caso che questo sia stato il periodo del Rinascimento italiano, un’epoca di signori e Papi mecenati di grandi artisti, un’epoca di splendore e grandi conflitti che ancora risuonano nelle Ville tanto amate dai Medici!

In conclusione, un consiglio per i turisti che desiderano visitare Firenze: fate come me e andate alle Ville medicee… Facciamo come Medici, che la sapevano lunga sul godere del bello e del buon vivere!

EXPLORING THE MEDICI VILLAS ON A TUSCAN JOURNEY

A camper itinerary in the province of Florence and not only

I got the chance to travel in Tuscany with a Laika camper, the Ecovip 645 van. After a delightful journey through the Florentine hills, occasionally getting lost on the winding country roads, I decided to park at the Hu Firenze Camping in Town facility. I chose to explore randomly, but if I had taken the highway, I would have exited at Firenze Sud and found the campsite just a short distance away. Although I refer to it as a “campsite”, these places are equipped with impeccable and almost Swiss-like organization, making it possible to enjoy pleasant moments of vacation. What makes it even nicer is the wide range of vacation solutions you can spot there: campers, caravans, tents and bungalow... Just as you are at a fair! Then, I decided to rent a bicycle and head towards the center of Florence. Riding along the Arno River, on the cycling path, is a unique travel experience. Arriving in the heart of the city, all the way to the Uffizi, while avoiding traffic and the crowds of tourists, adds charm to the visit of this city that remains an essential stop in any respectable trip to Italy! To escape the tourist crowds, however, I opted for a brief and relaxing pause at the Botanical Garden, located right in the center of Florence. Here, the University offers botanical courses on the use of plants in daily life.

My primary goal for the three days of this trip was to tour the Medici Villas, which are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. These splendid residences were commissioned and curated by the Medici family at various moments in their long history as the “rulers” of Tuscany and Florence, becoming places of delight and beauty for the various illustrious family members. The history of the Medici Villas is fascinating, starting with Cosimo the Elder, who inaugurated Villa Careggi, passing through the Neoplatonic Academy and the Renaissance. Giovanni and Lorenzo di Pierfrancesco commissioned Botticelli for the famous Birth of Venus and Primavera at Villa Castello, where Cosimo the First created the first Italian-style garden, designed by Tribolo. Not only that, Francesco created a remarkable alchemical garden at Pratolino, and Ferdinando expanded Villa Petraia, a place of delights where the music of his wedding gave rise to a new musical conception thanks to the Camerata dei Bardi... Each

Villa has a unique history and reflects the personality of its inhabitants. These residences had to distinguish themselves from medieval fortresses dedicated to defense. During the Medici era, they were transformed into villas of refined living, places of pleasure and beauty as we know them today. Surrounded by gardens, the Villas were partly self-sufficient thanks to the cultivation of citrus fruits and the vegetable garden.

There were fish ponds, water features, and allegorical decorations meant to represent paradise on earth, with a meticulously geometric concept of order, even when evoking wild nature, as in the animal grotto at Villa Castello! Within the Medici Villas, one can admire marvelous frescoes that celebrate the deeds of the owners, such as in the courtyard of Villa Petraia, or lead guests along surprising paths of allegorical and alchemical nature, as in Pratolino, where

incredible water-powered automatons played organs and animated extraordinary scenery, culminating in a banquet set up on a centuries-old oak tree.

What can I say? It is no wonder that this was the period of the Italian Renaissance, an era of lords and Popes patrons of great artists, a time of splendor and great conflicts that still resonate in the Villas beloved by the Medici! Finally, I’d like to offer some advise to travellers who want to visit Florence: follow my example and go to the Medici Villas. Let’s copy the Medici, who knew how to enjoy beauty and the finer things in life!

Win non è un bambino come gli altri, lo sa bene la famiglia Captein. Il piccolo Mikkel giura di averlo visto cambiare colore della pelle, ai suoi genitori basta constatare che a quattro anni non sappia parlare, mangiare, o esprimere i più semplici dei sentimenti per capirlo. È un’ordinaria sera d’estate quando appare misteriosamente nel loro cortile, quasi fosse piovuto dal cielo. I Captein sono pronti ad accoglierlo, crescendolo come fosse figlio loro, ignari del segreto che il bambino cela, sepolto nel profondo per anni ma pronto a riaffiorare in superficie.

Così come è apparso nelle vite di quanti lo hanno amato, un giorno Win scompare per seguire il suo oscuro destino, lasciando i suoi cari nel dolore e nella confusione. Ma chi era davvero Win? E quanto costa decidere di diventare quello che siamo?

Lo scopriremo nel primo romanzo di Vincenzo Catano. Catano nasce a Canosa di Puglia nel 1996. Nel 2019 consegue la laurea in Ingegneria Informatica presso il Politecnico diMilano, in seguito lavora per due anni nell’ambito della sicurezza informatica. Dal 2022 vive a Stoccolma, dove frequenta un Master in Game Design.

Appassionato di romanzi del mistero e thriller, in seguito alla lettura de “L’Ombra del Vento” di Carlos Ruiz Zafón decide di mettere nero su bianco una storia semi-autobiografica. La fantasia descritta nel romanzo è ispirata infatti da una piccola bugia raccontatagli dal fratello quando entrambi erano bambini.

La sua scrittura è influenzata dallo stile di Zafón, limpido e romantico, ed ha l’intento di trasmettere le emozioni dei personaggi nel modo più puro e autentico possibile.
