Eighteenyear-old Wade Watts lives in an old stacked trailer with his abusive aunt and her horrible boyfriend. To access the OASIS, people wear virtual reality goggles, gloves and even a bodysuit. When you are logged in, you are fully immersed in the virtual reality. As you will see, Wade has to use several strategies to manage his everyday life. And fortunately for Wade, a virtual world like the OASIS offers countless options that the real world does not, even for communication.

The school bell rang and a warning flashed in the corner of my display, informing me that I had forty minutes until the start of first period. I began to walk my avatar down the hall, using a series of subtle hand motions to control its movements and actions. I could also use voice commands to move around, if my hands were otherwise occupied. I strolled in the direction of my World History classroom, smiling and waving to the familiar faces I passed.
