Understand Essay Structure and Colour-Code System

Writing essays can be tedious work. It can be stressful to figure These colour codes will assist you in writing and organising your essay. Writing Course Part 1 helps you understand both the structure of a five-paragraph essay and the colour-code system for developing each paragraph. 1

A five-paragraph essay should look exactly like the summary essays in Action. Five solid paragraphs. Do not press “enter” to change a line and add space, unless you mark a new paragraph. The essay always starts with an introduction to get the reader interested in the topic, then follows with the main part of three main paragraphs before the conclusion summarises the main points. Have you ever tried building with Legos or bricks? If so, then you know that Legos can be used for building everything from a simple house or car to huge structures such as castles or spaceships (1). Your creations depend on how you follow the instructions and combine bricks (2). Think of your essay as a Lego structure. The text is made up of five different types of bricks – purple, pink, yellow, green and blue – which each have a specific function or meaning.
