Italian
Mr David Ceccarelli Mr Jean-Marc Rousset (’69) Italian Specialists The year 2014 has proven to be another successful year at Trinity College for our students studying Italian. One of the highlights was the second running of Italian Week in Term 4. Again, this was another opportunity to celebrate the Italian culture and bring a slice of Italy into the lives of Trinity students. Several events were organised during Italian Week and, certainly, one main feature was the Italian food stall which raised over $450 in support of the India Pilgrimage. The College community enjoyed all types of Italian food, a good portion of which was homemade by ‘mammas’ and ‘nonnas’ of our students. As a result, a big “grazie” goes out to all families who helped to make this stall successful. A new addition to this year’s Italian Week was the Commedia dell’Arte performed by two Italian actors for our Years 7 and 8 students. The Commedia is a theatre ensemble performing traditional raucous cabaret numbers and Italian storytelling portraying the traditional characters of Arlecchino, Colombina and Pulcinella. It has also been an interesting year for our Junior School. The Year 6 students looked at the topic of Italian geography and then moved onto Italian food. The Year 5s enjoyed looking at describing La Casa and exploring the cultural differences between Australia and Italy. Finally, the Year 4s labelled and described all the different animals in Italian and produced beautiful presentations to illustrate their work. Buone vacanze!
