The 2014 season proved to be one of growth and development for all levels of rugby at Trinity College.

Dean Carlisle continued to develop the playing style of the senior players with his new assistant Alex Stajka. This year the senior players can be very proud of the way they persevered week in and week out. It was a tough season, each game was a tough game but the players were still there at the end of the season, they turned up to training wanting to learn, they put their bodies on the line and they were proud to wear their Trinity colours.

The 1st XV Captain, Joseph Halpin led by example with his continuous message of “giving it a crack” and was well supported by Vice-Captain Nicholas Gillespie, with his never say die attitude. They were outstanding leaders for the Trinity Rugby Club in 2014 ably assisted by all the Year 12s and consolidated the pride they have in representing Trinity in Rugby.

Trinity Rugby was supported by the efforts of our coaches, Trinity College staff members Mr Tony Webb, Mr Ian Hailes, Mr Chris Morris, Ms Mary Hickey, Ms Rebecca Harris-Miller, Mr Dean Carlisle and Mr Alex Stajka.

The Old Boys coached, ran lines and provided encouragement. Thank you to Mr Finlay Koenig-Luck (’13), Mr Lachlan Spence (’10), Mr Noah Harris (’13), Mr wAngus Gillespie (’13), Mr William Brock (’04), Mr Alec Wilson (’11), Mr Alex Pensini (’13), Mr Sam Harris (’09) for returning to Trinity to coach teams. We are blessed to have this continuous support and enthusiasm. A special thanks to Finlay Koeing-Luck (’13) who led the Year 10s whilst Mr Hailes was absent.

This year we have been fortunate to have Mr Kenny Chan join us to work on our mental attitude and set achievable goals with the senior players. This service was invaluable and led to an improvement in our score line.

The parents of Trinity Rugby, you are the strength of our Club! Thank you for all that you do to get the players to and from games and training, provide the boys with drinks, the sugar hit, cooking BBQs, taking photos, running lines and washing jumpers, you are all amazing. The Rugby Committee, led by President Mr Geoff Hogg (86) and his committee you are an enthusiastic, dedicated, passionate and capable group that continues to build a Club where their boys’ endeavours are important. To the players, from years 5-12, you wear your Trinity colours with pride, you stand together as a team, you are committed to the task, you have dug in deep in 2014 and it was worth it. Congratulations and well done.
