A Farewell to Assistant Bursar Helen Iddon When Helen Iddon commenced working at Trinity College as Assistant Bursar on 12, October 1998, she did not contemplate that she would be at the College for a total of 17 years! Helen Iddon Assistant Bursar Some may say that Helen has hardly changed during that time but she has seen many changes at the College, four Headmasters: Tony Curtis, Peter Bothe, Robert Henderson and Ivan Banks. As well as two Bursars: Des Hardiman and Michael Burgess, also many structural changes in the buildings and grounds. Gone are the days when the huge potholes in the Trinity driveway filled up
when it rained and Black Swans swam up as far as the Celtic Cross in the roundabout. The Administration building has undergone a huge transformation and Helen’s office, originally on the ground floor, moved to level one with the rest of the Accounts Department. The Br PL O’Doherty Cultural Centre opened in 2010 enhancing the College with state-of-the art Visual and Performing Arts facilities as well as a new Staff Lounge with sweeping river views and beautifully equipped for the many parent and staff functions held at the College. Helen retires this year to spend more time with her husband and grandchildren not to mention fulfilling some lifetime travel ambitions. We thank Helen for her dedication to Trinity and wish her a happy retirement.
