During the early years, students learn to approach life with curiosity, confidence, persistence, and imagination. By the time they reach Years 3 and 4 their independence of mind and actions stretches them to try new things and learn to express their emotions appropriately. In Years 5 and 6, they gain leadership skills through the school values of courage, respect, integrity and service.

People of Good Character

When students step up to Year 7, the emphasis shifts to relationships, connections and kindness. During the Cripps years students learn negotiation, teamwork and self-advocacy, and identify their personal character strengths.

By Mandy Andrews, Director of Enrolments

In my early days at Korowa, the first question parents asked was about VCE results and academic achievements. More recently, however, I find parents looking for evidence of what Korowa will do to help make their daughter a “good human”. It’s not that academic standards no longer matter, it’s that the expectation of a Korowa education now prioritises, more than ever, the development of good character. Korowa students do achieve excellence, and along their pathway develop a host of skills that cannot be learned from a textbook.

By Year 9, they are ready for challenge and choice. Subject selections and choice of the end of year experience help develop confidence, resilience, empathy and an appreciation of service to others. Year 10 students explore their futures through subject planning and career exploration, and take on a more global view through opportunities to travel to Cambodia, France, Germany, China or Japan. By the time our students reach VCE, they have developed a sense of personal responsibility and are future focused. They can look beyond themselves and the Korowa gates, and understand how to make a positive influence in the world. The sense of belonging, the feeling that you matter, and the shared emotional connection that each student experiences is what creates the strength of character in every Korowa student.
