The Sports and Wellbeing Centre is now beginning to take shape as it emerges in the centre of the school.
We can now begin to see the new eight lane swimming pool take form. The central lift and stairs connects the social spaces and consultancy suites for Learning Support and Psychological and Counselling services located on the first level with the dance and yoga studios above. The main entrance fronts onto Ranfurlie Crescent with central access through landscaped gardens where students will enjoy outdoor spaces. We can now see how the new building will connect to the rest of school through the café entrance adjacent to the Cripps building. Over the last twelve months we have expanded our offer of fitness and sports leisure programs. Metafit has proved popular with staff and students. This is a studio based class activity that incorporates highintensity intervals for fitness and health benefits based on traditional bodyweight exercises with the latest HIIT training techniques. We have also offered relaxation and mindfulness sessions led by our Educational and Developmental Psychologist, Dr Michelle Andrews-Luke. Our new Sports and Wellbeing Centre will provide the perfect venue for these programs alongside more traditional team sport training facilities. Other programs will continue to be developed ready for the 2022 school year. Despite the events of the pandemic and inclement weather towards the end of 2020, this exciting building project remains on track. This should see us able to officially open and occupy this new facility in Term 1 of 2022.
