Midway through the year, it became evident that the remainder of 2020 was going to be “COVID-normal”! While disappointed we couldn’t be together in person, every effort was made to ensure milestone events still occurred online. These included “100 days of Prep and Year 12”, where Year 12 students delivered gifts to the Preps, and videos were shared of our oldest girls reading their favourite children’s book to our youngest.

The 2019/20 Rowing Presentation evening was online, with award winners receiving trophies and medallions at home. Parents were encouraged to capture the moment and these were shown during the ceremony, allowing us to share in the delight of mums and dads presenting trophies to their daughters. With the snow season cancelled, it was more important than ever to recognise our Year 12 students, some who have been part of the group since Junior School. There was an online presentation evening, with the Friends of Snowsports families who witnessed a specially crafted medallion presented to our senior students. Our Year 12 Father/Daughter Breakfast tradition continued, with hampers delivered for dads and daughters to enjoy at home. We missed our students during distance learning, and on several occasions let them know we were thinking of them, sending small pamper packs or cookies to students far from home, and those in Year 12. In the absence of Speech Night or Valedictory Evening, we recognised our Class of 2020 with a Valedictory Luncheon outdoors in a specially constructed marquee. Our Community Engagement groups met online and arranged guest speakers for webinars and events, including an afternoon with Rodney Eade, a past parent and former AFL player and coach who joined us as part of The Fathering Project.

The highlight of our social calendar in 2021 will be the K-Ball, to be held at the NGV (National Gallery of Victoria) in the Great Hall, on Saturday 31 July. Get together with friends for a great night.
