REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS 52. Position each of the three rear countershafts so that the single timing mark on each countershaft Lo-split gear enters the mating set of timing marks on the rear compound mainshaft Lo-split gear. Install each countershaft on the cup of its mating front countershaft rear bearing cover. 551
53. Obtain the rear mainshaft and synchronizer assembly. Paint three equally spaced sets of double timing marks on the gear teeth surrounding every 10th space between two teeth for the Hi-range/Hi-split gear. Paint three equally spaced sets of double timing marks on the gear teeth surrounding every 18th space between two teeth for the Lo-range gear. 54. On the conventional output shaft transmissions: T313–T318(L)(LR), use a hoist and a threaded eye-bolt to lift and install the rear mainshaft and synchronizer assembly between the rear countershafts. Make sure to retain timing mark alignment. 552
