Make a presentation In class, you will often be asked to make an oral presentation using presentation tools like PowerPoint. Another good way of showing what you know is to make a video presentation. If you are not happy with your performance, you can edit it and thus have many attempts at getting it right.

Research. Find facts about the topic from sources you can trust. Include and refer to these sources to exemplify and prove your knowledge. For example, if you present your school as in task 8, you may want to use the school website to find important information.

Make an outline. Write down main headings or slides first to focus on structure, then add details later. For task 8, the outline has been made for you. Write a key word manuscript. Base the manuscript on your outline. For a video presentation you have to add location.

8 Work in pairs or groups of three. Plan and make an inspirational video presentation used to recruit tenth grade students to choose vocational studies at your school. Begin by reviewing "How to plan a presentation" to your right. Use the following outline: ● Introduction about you and your school Location: classrooms, cafeteria, library, gym ● Information on your vocational studies, for instance, what you do, what you can become, possible work places and tips to reach your goal Location: interesting vocational places, like where you do your vocational studies. Show and tell. ● Interviews with vocational teachers or students to back up your arguments Location: classrooms, workshops, work sites ● Conclusion of your experiences so far, your opinion of your vocation and your school Location: your favourite place at school Use the task checklist to your right before handing in.
Use special effects. For a PowerPoint presentation, consider images, background DQG IRQW VL]H )RU D YLGHR SUHVHQWDWLRQ \RX have far more options, limited only by the purpose of the video and your skill level in making videos. For school or work, do not go overboard with videos. Using too many special effects will take the focus away from the message. Consider your audience. Adjust the form, content and language to the receiver.

REMEMBER Images are more eye-catching and motivating for your audience than text. Practice presenting without a manuscript by using each image as help to remember what to say.
