Living Outside the Dream Americans are known for being extremely driven. You could say that the main message of the American Dream is that all are free to work hard and succeed, meaning that all have the same opportunities to do well in school, win in sports or succeed in life in general. At the same time, this mindset can contribute to an attitude that all are responsible for where they end up, meaning that if you lose in sports, fail in school or end up poor, you only have yourself to blame. Choose one of the titles below to match each of the three images: Homeless Veterans, Border Chaos, Immigrants Held at Detention Centers, Increased Use of Metal Detectors, Poverty on Native American Reservations. Find images to match the titles that are not used. Discuss the factors that contribute to all the situations.
