The Trinity College Parent Council has enjoyed a very busy and exciting year. The welcome sundowner held in early February, was very well attended, including a large number of new Years 4 and 7 parents. This was very pleasing to see. Rio Carnivale was the theme for this year’s ball with over 300 people attending. DJ, Bronia, played non-stop and had everybody dancing ‘til the early hours of Sunday morning. A huge thank you goes to the Year 12 parents for all their hard work and creativity. We hosted two guest speakers this year, Dan Haesler spoke about the difficulty of raising boys from when they are little through to young men. Our second speaker was Hugh Van Cuylenburg, who spoke about resilience and covered areas from bullying to coping with pressure and stress, be it in classroom, on the sporting field or in family life. Both speakers were very informative and entertaining. 36
Two council members resigned at our AGM: Mrs Melanie Robertson and Ms Sonya Mahoney. I thank them both for their help and commitment throughout their stay on the Parent Council. We gained two new members: Mr Leon Jennings and Mr Anthony Olivieri and I look forward to working with these two gentlemen. To all the current Parent Council members – a big thank you for all your help through out the year. Mr Gordon Taylor Chair, Trinity College Parent Council
