Thank you to the College and the support from Mr Ivan Banks and Mr Stephen Leahy (’78), the parents under Mr Brett Viskovich, the coaches, Mr Mark Bozich, our rowing coordinator and especially our passionate rowers. This team has won the Hamer Cup, won every race in the Year 9 section, including the 9As for the first time ever, and we are now the national champions in the under 17 quad and under 17 double.

This year, Ethan Taylor (10.6) broke the Year 10 ergometer mark with 6.41 and Tom Norman (11.3) broke the Year 11 record with 6.26. Old Boy Dave Watts (‘09) raced in the Olympic Quad, with Josh Hicks (‘08) and Rhys Grant (‘04) and they have a great chance of making the final crews by April 2016. We had enormous success in Tasmania and the Year 9s have broken a record by clean-sweeping all regattas and the 9Bs fought back from a caught oar and coming to a dead stop (crab) to win us the Hamer by racing into second position when others would have paddled home feeling sorry for themselves.

These achievements are the results that get noticed but they are the product of the unnoticed efforts. These unseen efforts and students striving to achieve goals, is a rehearsal of an attitude and approach that will get them to achieve well in life – these are the wins we want.

Our Captain, Lewis Parsons (12.6), and the Vice-Captains, Nick Gillespie (12.4), Rory Kendell (12.7) and Captain of Coxswains, Spencer Staltari (12.5), have done a great job and have been brave leaders of our club. They have all pushed for personal improvement and achieved great things and this has drawn the club with them.

The ergo and scull champions are:

We have had an amazing year and all athletes have excelled themselves.

It is always sad to farewell the Year 12 rowers and their parents. Every year we welcome a new group into the club and this year they have jumped in with both feet. Thank you to the leaving rowers and parents for your support and belief. It has been great fun and you have been an integral part of the wins and belief the rowers have built in themselves. To the coaches and rowers thanks for having such a great sense of humour, thanks for always looking for the job that needed doing and thanks for bravely hunting the tigers you were scared of. Thank you.
