ADF Visit
During Term 1, Trinity was literally blown away to host the Royal Australian Navy and its eight million dollar helicopter. After secret flybys and meticulous planning, Trinity Old Boy and pilot, Benjamin Hansen-Murphy (’03), landed the aircraft with considerable skill and noise onto Centenary Park. He spoke to interested students about his time in the Navy and the various employment and travel opportunities within the Royal Australian Navy. A big thank you goes to the ADF and the pilots who allowed Junior School and Senior School students to climb into and look around the helicopter.
Year 10
All Year 10 students in 2015 spent time examining career possibilities in the Personal Development & Wellbeing (PDW) classes. The students used Career Voyager, a psychometric assessment tool designed to help match their interests to possible careers. Students researched different aspects of careers to determine suitability.
In Term 2 the annual Careers Carousel was held with over 16 guest speakers from a broad range of industries. Students were fortunate to hear from professionals in areas such as law, finance, media, education, emergency services and engineering. A special mention to the following Old Boys who gave up valuable time to visit the College and offer their expertise: Mark Knedler (’04), Blair Bayens (‘07), Ben Hennessey (’07), Liam Dowling (’08), and Fraser McInnes (’10).
Year 10 students also received a Trinity College portfolio which is designed to help them keep track of employability skills, achievements, qualifications and improve their work readiness. This portfolio acts as a resource for future career planning and will be added to as the students continue at the College.
Year 11
Students received individual career counselling as they requested, usually revolving around subject changes and possible future careers. Extension opportunities were presented to groups who expressed interest. These included the Business, Law & Politics Symposium hosted by Notre Dame University and the ECU Accounting & Finance Symposium held in October, where students were given a taste of university life and careers in the Accounting & Finance Industry.

Year 12
From the beginning of the year students were presented with information and advice regarding life after Year 12. In Terms 1 and 2 the students heard presentations from Curtin University, Murdoch University, University of Notre Dame and the University of Western Australia. These talks proved to be invaluable as many students took the opportunity to ask questions and then visit some of the campuses which many will be attending in 2015. TISC also visited Trinity to guide the university bound students through the ins and outs of applying for university entrance.
Thank you to Year 12 students and their families who completed scholarship applications for entry into university in 2016. In recent years, Trinity has built an impressive record of students applying for and receiving prestigious university scholarships.
Cert IV Business
For the first time, the Certificate IV Business course was offered to Year 12 students. The competency-based course can be used as an alternative entry into many university courses. Students were assessed on key employability skills including project management and marketing. In 2015, eighteen students successfully completed the course and enrolled in university courses ranging from commerce to education.
Vocational Education & Training
Non-ATAR students were busy completing certificates throughout the year and 16 students have been involved in workplace learning which involves one day a week spent off campus studying different courses. Throughout 2015 there were 109 students studying four different certificate courses. The Certificate Courses Offered were: Cert II Sport & Recreation, Cert II Information Technology, Cert II Outdoor Recreation, Cert II Business, Cert II Visual Arts (Furniture) and Cert IV Business.
Sixteen students were involved in Workplace Learning (WPL), spending one day a week off campus studying at TAFE.
