Year 6 White
Mr Tony Maxfield Year 6 White
What an amazing year – and to share it with such a quality group of boys who are well on the way to becoming young Men for Others. I will let the boys tell you about our year: Mr Tony Maxfield Year 6 White My favourite things we did in Year 6 White were prospecting for gold on the Kalgoorlie camp, doing the team building games with Mr Thompson at the Leadership retreat and hatching our fluffy class chicks and caring for them. Thanks for a great year, Mr Max. Kuba Jayamaha
My favourite activity by far was hatching our class chickens. It was awesome seeing them break out of their shells, taking their first breaths and standing for the first time. It was very touching. Kalgoorlie camp was also excellent, not only the gold but the amazing history of this unique setting. Our Asia Travel Expo was a great learning experience. It was like we really had jobs selling holidays to people. Thanks for everything, Sir. Finn Gismondi
I really liked reading the Parvana novels. Parvana and Parvana’s Journey were very interesting. I did not know anything about how hard life was in Afghanistan for so many people. I also liked all of our class because they were all so friendly. Damon Winterburn
The best thing about Year 6 was meeting new friends. I had not been in a class with many of the boys. The Kalgoorlie camp was a great week, we all learnt so much about gold and mining. This year I improved in all my subject areas. Mr Max, thanks for being a great teacher and helping me through Year 6. Jeremy Clarke
The things I enjoyed the most were the Kalgoorlie camp, challenging myself in spelling and I loved the true story, Shackleton’s Forgotten Men. I improved my maths so much this year. Mr Max, I loved the way you taught me in such a fun way, especially maths and reading. Zayne Gardiner
I liked reading our literature text, Shackleton’s Forgotten Men. It is amazing what Antarctic explorers faced every day to stay alive. I also really enjoyed Christian service at the Second Avenue Aged Care Facility. The residents and staff were very nice people. This year I have improved my reading and writing. Poetry was a lot of fun too. Thank you for being my teacher, Mr Max. You helped me to understand things. Thomas Smith
I really enjoyed our class discussions this year and getting ready for Year 7. I loved looking after our class chicks, our Parvana and Shackleton novels. Mr Max has prepared us well for next year. Carlos Tan

What a year! Our class, 6 White, has done so much. We have been on two camps, the Leadership retreat at Dwellingup and the Kalgoorlie camp. Also we hatched and parented some chicks in class. My favourite excursion was to the Perth Mint because we learnt so much about WA history and gold. I would like to thank you once again, Mr Max, for such a brilliant year and I can’t wait for high school. Flynn Tyson

My most favourite thing this year was hatching our chickens because they were so cute. I also loved our epic class discussions on our Parvana and Earnest Shackleton literature novels. At first I was a bit scared about being in Mr Max’s class, but now I would not have it any other way. Thanks, Sir. Nathan De Fonseka
When I started Year 6 I was very nervous – new teacher, new class and different peers. I particularly enjoyed the Leadership retreat and our Kalgoorlie camp. I’ve really improved in all subjects, especially maths. Reading the Parvana novels and Shackleton’s Forgotten Men made me really realise how the world has changed and how hard life can be for some families in other countries. Thank you, Mr Maxfield, for such a wonderful year. Alex Devilee
Wow! This year in Mr Maxfield’s class: where do I start? I guess my highlights were the Kalgoorlie camp where we learnt about gold and Western Australian history. I really loved the Kalgoorlie camp, the swimming and athletics carnivals. It was really good going to the Second Avenue Aged Care Facility. Some of the ladies are from Poland and only spoke Polish so I looked up some Polish words on my laptop so I could talk to them. We also sang Christmas carols and gave them Christmas cards and poems. Dear Mr Max, I hope you had a great year with the class and me. Tex Gorski
