Volleyball Mr Bobby Emmanuel Coach 1st VI Volleyball This year the Trinity College Volleyball Club continued to be very successful; largely thanks to a strong level of community support from parents, commitment from Old Boys who filled coaching roles, dedication of teachers and the desire of the students to train hard and win volleyball games. For the first time in history, Trinity College won the Brother Carrigg Shield for the third year in a row. The Middle School volleyball program, spearheaded by Mr John Overton yielded great results in 2015. Most pleasing is the depth of talent and numbers within each year group; however, on occasion this has resulted in a scratch match. It is commendable to see the lower age groups put up their hands for the opportunity to compete and their willingness to fill in and put others before themselves for the good of the club. The Middle School teams won a vast majority of their games and, on more than one occasion, a clean sweep of all opposing teams. Special thanks goes to Ms Rita Basilio, Ms Kate Raphael, Mr Sam Mettam (’10), Mr Julian Fritz, Mr Brayden Keizer (’14) and Mr John Ricciardi for their support and dedication in preparing our teams over the season. Once again, our senior volleyball teams enjoyed an outstanding season with some close matches against the stronger teams. A talented bunch of players in the Year 10 teams, coached by Mrs Claudia Kelly and Mr Peter Fitzgerald (’13) showcased the depth in the upcoming teams. Currently three of the Year 10s are playing in the 1st team and when they join their compatriots in future years, this will make them a very formidable team indeed. Our 3rd VI team experienced many victories and continued to develop a strong sense of camaraderie under the tutelage of Mrs Rosa West. The mighty 2nds continued to grow in confidence and skill. They remained undefeated throughout the season and were guided by the very calm and stoic Mr Craig Adams. Congratulations to the team on remaining undefeated for three years in a row. The depth and talent in these teams are a testament to the strong volleyball culture at Trinity College. The preparation for the defence of the Brother Carrigg Shield started in Term 4 2014 with a large squad of motivated players trying out for 1st team selection. As the team started to form, it was evident that there was an abundance of talent and skill; however, the biggest challenge was going to be team cohesion and performing at their best in the tough matches. The 2014 Term 4 competition was encouraging with only one loss in a close match to Aquinas College. With this result in hand, the team 319
