In 2016, units 3 and 4 of the new course will be introduced. Even though the old course has been modified the new course’s topics are very similar.

Trinity hosted the students and their teacher, Ms Diana Tersigni, for the oral examinations. We thank Diana for helping with the running of those exams. During Week 4, the College celebrated Italian Week and I thank Mr David Ceccarelli for his support in organising the daily quiz questions and the gelato day. Thanks also to Luke Nardelli (9.7), his mother, Mrs Josie Nardelli and especially to his nonno, Pasquale, for organising the bocce games. Nonno Pasquale was very kind in sharing his knowledge of the game with the students. Thanks also to Trent Piccicacco (11.2) for teaching other students how to participate.

The major theme of Italian Week was the story of Italian migration to Australia and we thank Ms Emma McLevie for the beautiful display in our library. To explore this theme further, the Year 11 students of Italian visited the monument in Lake Vasto (Perth) to pay tribute to the first Italian migrants. It has also been an interesting year for our Junior School students. The Year 6 students had the opportunity to explore the topics of our most famous Italian foods: pizza, pasta and gelato. They studied the surprising history and culture behind these culinary delights! The Year 5s looked at the topic of ‘la casa’, exploring the differences between Australian and Italian houses and the Year 4s learnt the many different animals and Italian vegetables. Viva l’Italia!
