It has been another fantastic year in the world of drama at Trinity. One of the main highlights this year was the College production of Skate directed by Miss Beth Parkinson. It was an outstanding show that received excellent feedback. Skate is an Australian play, written by Debra Oswald and was based on a true story following a group of kids fighting with their local council to get a skate park. However, this becomes more than just a fight for a skate park. As the plot progresses, tragedy hits the town in a number of ways. Miss Parkinson and her Year 11 Drama class achieved a highly entertaining and polished production. It was funny, tense, emotional with an outstanding set and full of skateboarding tricks. The cast consisting of Conor Mackie (11.1), Tim Adams (11.6), Tomas Wayne (11.6), Liam Crevola (11.3), Matthew Drew (11.3), Stratos Sarris (11.6), Liam Heald (11.1), Matthew Sales (11.5), Nathan Huntley (11.6), Jordan Martin (11.7) and Luke McPherson (11.6) should certainly be acknowledged for their dedication and excellent performances in Skate. The College also saw its first Year 12 WACE Drama class through to exams. Students prepared for both a practical and written exam, studying a range of texts and writing their own five to seven minute solo performances. Students had the opportunity to present their exam pieces at a Year 12 Drama Showcase evening at the end of Term 3. It was highly rewarding to see the performance level these students had reached and they should all be proud of their efforts. This year was also the first time the College had a Drama Captain, under the leadership of Jack Perry (12.3). Jack did a fantastic job at setting the standard for Drama for the years to follow.

Year 11 production, Skate
Once again, our Years 8, 9 and 10 Drama students put together some highly engaging performances. Students have covered a range of drama forms including comedy, melodrama, physical theatre and commedia dell’arte. A number of these pieces were performed at our Drama Showcase Evening and in the Performing Arts Festival. During the festival the students did an outstanding job and in total received 13 honourable mentions. Drama club has been a lot of fun this year with an energised and committed group of Year 7 students. We covered basic drama and public speaking skills and ran a semester of a theatre games competition. The competition was highly entertaining.
