Emission Control System (ECS) a. Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) System The tractor engine is equipped with a closed type crankcase ventilation system using a Fleet-Guard oil separator. This separates the oil efficiently from the engine blow-by gases through a high performance media, maintains the crankcase pressure within acceptable safe limits. The maintenance of the PCV system essentially involves replacing the oil separator filter media. The oil filter media must be replaced after 1500 operating hours as indicated in the service schedule for continued performance of the engine.

Removing the Oil Separator 1. Rotate the housing cover (C) approx. half a turn anticlockwise and remove. If the cover is difficult to move, a tool (e.g. screwdriver) can be used to turn the cover. 2. Pull the oil separator element (B) upwards to remove and dispose of as per local waste regulations.

Assembly the Oil Separator 1. Clean housing, cover and sealing surfaces. H
2. Change O-ring (A) and rub in a small amount of engine oil.

3. Slide the new oil separator element into the housing (C) with a new, slightly oiled O-ring.
G
4. Put on the housing cover (C) and turn clockwise until it latches into place.

NOTE: Maintenance intervals may need to be shortened depending on the operating conditions. Remove the hose connections at the turbocharger inlet, intercooler inlet, outlet and EGR mixer pipe inlet ends and check for oil precipitation. Thin layer of oil mist on inner walls is normal. If oil droplets are heavy, then the oil separator element and preseparator need to be replaced.

Always carry out the maintenance work only when the engine is switched off and parked properly. Never start the engine without an oil separator and/or cover. 90
