The Infrastructure Skills Centre’s goal is to ensure people have a learning experience that can set them up for a life-time in infrastructure. It provides an across-the-board appreciation of the various skills required in building, operating and maintaining infrastructure, it is also helping to address the industry’s skill shortage. Course entrants are employed then start the 6 week programme, each intake has a combination of practical hands-on training with some theorybased class sessions including on-site visits.

The programme is facilitating by a combination of 18 different facilitators who are either trainer/ workplace instructors or subject matter experts. The skills covered range from learning how to working safely, effective communication to environmental awareness, budgeting, time management, mental health awareness, concrete pouring and finishing, working safely at heights, underground service protection, dangers of bitumen, applying asphalt, traffic control and use of power tools.
