The Jervois Quay Emergency Stormwater Upgrade project, impacting a major arterial route into Wellington CBD, required E. Carson & Sons to call on all of its 40+ years of experience to ensure a successful outcome was achieved in a highpressure environment, within an extremely tight timeframe.

We are pleased, that with the support of our consultants GHD and our sub-contractors G.P. Friel, E.N. Ramsbottom, McCormack Group, ATMS and JB’s, we were able to deliver an outstanding solution that will alleviate flood risk in this crucial heart of Wellington CBD.

Construction of a 750mm Reinforced Concrete Stormwater main, 2.5m deep in a tidal environment, across six lanes of traffic in four days, required significant logistics and planning, 42 2CCNZ / HIREPOOL CONSTRUCTION EXCELLENCE AWARDS 2022 cross-team collaboration, technical expertise and consistent focus to ensure we got the right result for our client, Wellington Water (WWL), safely. We are proud to have delivered this challenging project safely and on time. Management of stormwater at this low-point of Wellington’s CBD has been an issue for WWL and WCC for a number of years, with a solution for an up-sized culvert on the books for almost a decade.
