The Waimakariri District is located in North Canterbury. The roading network totals approximately 1600 kms, made up of 985 kms of sealed roads and 615 kms of unsealed roads.

Rural roads make up 81 percent of the roading network (1295 kms) and the remaining 19 percent is urban (305 kms). The drainage network totals approximately 347 kms which is made up of 85 kms of drains and waterways within the road reserve/public reserve and 262 kms of drains and waterways within private property. Contract 19/43 is a NEC3 Term Service Contract, for the Road and Drainage Network. The contract includes Resurfacing, Roadmarking, drainage, programmed, reactive, rehabilitation and emergency works, snow clearance, ice gritting and incident response. The work includes network inspections, investigation, programming and reporting as well as carrying out the maintenance and renewal work. CORDE has won this contract in a

6competitive open market, on a 5-year cycle, ever since 1995. CORDE has earned full contract extensions (3+1+1) for every contract term since the inception of this contract. As a result, CORDE has extensive knowledge and understanding of the network assets and we are consistently looking at ways to improve our service to our client.
