Hansie When people think of my country, they often think of racism between the different groups of people who live here. I’m a modern South African and I like to celebrate our country’s achievements. Not many people know that South Africa has had four Nobel Peace Prize winners. Two authors have also won the Nobel Prize for Literature. Christiaan Barnard, a South African doctor, was the first person to perform a heart transplant over 50 years ago. Elon Musk who co-founded PayPal and Space X and the electric car Tesla was born in Pretoria. I would like to become a scientist so that I can help solve some of the problems my country faces.

Nomsa Do you know what a black mamba is? Yes, it is one of Africa’s deadliest snakes. It is also an all-female anti-poaching group. They work at the Balule Nature Reserve which is part of Kruger National Park. I take part in their weekly Bush Babies lessons. We learn about the wild animals that live around us. We also learn that we have to take care of these animals for future generations. When I grow up, I would like to join the Black Mambas and help save the rhinos and other African animals.
