The film is directed by James Cameron. It was released in 1997 and in 3D in 2012. The main actors are Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio. It is a romantic drama film. The story takes place in April 1912. The Titanic was on its maiden voyage when it hit an iceberg and sank into the deep and icy cold water of the Atlantic Ocean. The main characters of the film are Rose and Jack, who meet for the first time on board the ship. Other important characters are Rose’s fiancé, Caledon and Jack’s friend, Fabrizio. The film begins with the Titanic leaving the port of Southampton. Then there is a shift to the present time, and we see the deep, dark sea. We see two mini-submarines and we understand that they have found the wreck of the Titanic. A treasure hunter is looking for a necklace called the Heart of the Ocean. He does not find it but he finds a sketch of a naked woman wearing the necklace. A woman sees the treasure hunter on the news and contacts him. She tells him that she is Rose, the woman in the picture. She begins telling her story about what happened on the doomed ship that fateful night in April. I really liked the film. I think it was exciting because you know the story is true, even though the love story between Rose and Jack is fictional. It was also a tragic film. I am impressed by the many details which show what life on the ship was actually like, and the class differences between the passengers in first class and third class. The film has won 11 Oscars and many other film awards, and is one of the bestselling films of all times. It is also called, “One of the World’s most Famous Love Stories”. Millvina Dean, the last survivor of the sinking of the Titanic, was the inspiration for the movie. This film is a family film and I will recommend it for people from the age of 12.
